This show has me on the edge of my seat, mainly because I don't know what Kian84 will do next. He's so... idk but he's fascinating to watch. I'm a BTS fan so I admit I started this for Jin but it is fun and really unexpected. Haven't seen a show quite as chaotic and realistic from Korea, as I mainly watch scripted K-dramas and tv-presentable Korean talk shows. So this was actually a breathe of fresh air to see Jin and others interacting with non-famous people and have genuine reactions to this torture house of a BnB! Hahaha
I agree that adaptations rarely recreate the magic of the source material. But a non-straightwashed adaptation…
I totally agree with you, I think I just felt disappointed from watching the trailer and seeing how they straight-washed the characters, that it made me not even have faith in a good adaptation (of a beloved manhwa to me). You are very correct to say that TV and shows facilitate a bigger audience for societal message to get across to the general public, and I'm so glad we're seeing more and more LGBT+ Korean shows, especially stuff like Love In the Big City.
as a big fan of the manhwa, I've waited for this adaptation ever since the it was in prep. But right now I'm going let all my expectations go and tune into it like it's just another new k-drama, because I honestly think even a non-straightwashed adaptation would not be able to compare to the manhwa. If anyone is interested, I highly recommend reading it!
It's quite clichéd and unrealistic at times but if you really like reading CEO/wattpad type books this is a perfectly enjoyable time! It's serious within the story arcs but not so serious in a slice-of-life way, great for when you want to watch something romantic without analysing or thinking!
im only on ep2 can someone explain Hong He joo's family tree, like is she a illegitimate daugjter of a high ranking family? is that her step-mom? thanks!
also love how every character seems to be connected (excited to find out how) and has seperate and unique backstories, makes it a realistic and engaging story!
Didn't except such a comedy! lots of funny and witty dialogue with interesting and modern concepts. It's certainly for the more mature audience as its more realistic/less fantastical. Because of its relatability I had such a lighthearted and fun time (but they did touch on gender inequality which i really appreciated) watching the 2 eps. Haven't felt this much funny energy from a K-drama in a while! So excited for next week!
I've never watched a drama like this before! Had the most realistic, vulnerable and complexly flawed characters ever. Each with different backgrounds and outlooks on life, love and death, which are explored all throughout the drama. It subtly ties in great feminist messages and empowering discussions, greatly focusing on the trials of balancing a career and love. Also brings awareness to disability stigma and struggles of feeling incompetent too. I think its an important drama to produce and put out to the world!
(!) The story can be quite heavy and sad to watch at times so please be aware if you're going through a hard time and need a no-brainer drama, this is not the typical sweet/fluffy pick-me-up.
Idk y’all I think the comments about the FL are a bit… unreasonable. This isn’t your usual, slice of life…
Couldn't agree more! It's been a while since I've seen a FL with realistic complex decisions who puts themselves first, compared to FLs in other dramas who seem like they are only written to elevate the ML.
Have you guys seen the video explaining what the website Xclusive is about? it's a really sketchy and money-grab website and you can't even own the video for $90!! This is not related to the Tannies at all, they have no say over anything from this drama, production or get revenue, and Hybe wants us to pay that much? Hybe has beem making weird decisions lately since all of BTS are in the military i'll just gonna watch it illegally
I find this drama soo cute, funny and exciting to watch because I'm in a mood for easy-to-watch CEO romance dramas in my life right now. If you don't think you're in the mood for that type of story please don't go with the trend and watch it now, otherwise you'll dislike it and won't get to experience it when you feel down and want a no-brainer romance to fill your time with.
