Well yes, good observation! I don’t check my replies often so here we are!

If you love every BL/thai BL trope, this shows got it. Rich tops, the “we’ve both admitted our feelings but for some reason the bottom doesn’t believe the top likes him so we’re semi-dating for 4 episodes”, the “we met in the past but you didn’t recognize me” (2x), the over protective top who thinks that’s the bottom can’t be anywhere without them (2x), and the innocent, childish bottom who thinks kissing and talking about being boyfriends is too much even though they’re in college!

Now I don’t wanna yuck anyone’s yum, bc if you enjoy the BL clichés, I love that for you and you’ll definitely enjoy this. If you’re looking for character development or a storyline, this is not for you. The only “storyline” is us uncovering how the mains met/their history which we find out pretty fast. I watched this show weekly and it wasn’t boring enough to quit so that was nice, binging it would be rough tho.

I so badly want to see Earth in a like-able roll, but here we are! I didn’t dislike Ter, but he was too much yet too little at the same time. I also thought it was hilarious that when Hill met Ter for the first couple times (spoiler ahead) he wore a mask and acted mute?? What was the point?!?! And don’t say it was bc he’s too shy or that “people would recognize him”, no way, the writers just had no creativity.

I did love Jo and North, a few of their moments gave me butterflies, but their relationship dynamic at the start is odd and the connection is forced for a while, but their kissing scenes would good! North is so cute thooooo, gonna miss him

Well there are a lot of Japanese BLs, if this was rated this highly predominantly since it is a bl, then there would be a lot more JBLs that rank higher than an 8.5. Its always good to look out for fetishization, but that is not the case here for many reasons

I read some people saying there was no plot. And I feel like it’s bc they watched week to week. I did that at first and kept forgetting the details which are important for the plot development. But I decided to rewatch it all at once, it’s SO MUCH better!

They set up the mystery of Haruto well, to where we’re still curious about him in ep 10. We see them develop their relationship while also watching them solve cases, and the cases are simple but still fun. And I thought the character and relationship develops were well done! Highly recommend, especially if you love a well done tsundere

No literally. And both girls kept defending him and taking his side throughout the whole series!! Pleng looooovvvveeeddd hearing him out even after he threated to kill her, tried to kill her, tried to kill her partner, and after constantly trying to pursue Wan even when Wan didn’t want it!!! And they wanted me to cry with Wan while he was in the hospital. Hell. No

I liked it a lot! The plot set up was really good! It vaguely felt like a typical rich kid with servant kid trope but I could see hints of intriguing plot details and it had me speculating on the interesting ways the plot could go. I think the last 3-4 fell into Thai romance trap. It felt forced, almost too dramatic but also not a lot happening at the same time. I wanted more grit and intrigue but maybe the directors didn’t want that! (Spoiler in the next sentence and paragraph!!!!) I thought they really could’ve done something interesting with the affair aspect but instead they did an incest/killer ex thing.

The actors killed it!! Both were amazing and they kiss better than 99% of the GL/BL world!! Ms. Wan is GORGEOUS!!! And seeing a Gemini tattoo on her (I’m a Gemini) made me a little happy. But also?? I totally should’ve caught the incest “twist” with that “subtle” Gemini convo on the 1st or 2nd ep.
Show should’ve ended before that crazy ex popped up at the birthday party and it would’ve been closer to perfect!

I heard about this drama and manga in December of 2022, and I finally read the manga for it today and now I’m not as excited for this drama haha. The MC was almost insufferable, but I do hope they finally make this and that it does well.

I mean she never begged Ryo to go, I think Ryo decided to go was bc he realized that Hikaru was still think of him (the bread), and that Chika checked on him. I think it made him feel cared for and wanted his actions to reflect the kindness that they had for him

That’s an interesting view point. In my opinion, it seems like Chika did that selflessly. She wants to help minami and Hikaru get together, wants Ryo and Hikaru to be happy, and also wants to be happy with Ryo, so she’s in a tough situation especially since she’s the only one who knows all the dynamics btwn the group. I’m sure this makes decision making hard for her, so I think she is resorting to just making sure no one is left behind. I think she’s well aware that Ryo’s not doing this for her, and she sad about it but is also happy that he is coming in general

I see a lot of comments saying that the series is boring, and I 100% see why people are saying that, but for me, my intrigue is making this not boring. It’s slow and there’s been no romance, but the first two episodes did a good job of setting up the love triangle (now square), so I’ll be excited to see it play out. The third episode felt like a partial throw away given the length of the show, but it also did a great job of making me anticipate how the story will go and let us learn about the new girl. If you’re looking for a typical BL plot, this doesn’t seem like this will have that. That said, I can’t wait for the boys (and hopefully girls) to start getting together.

May I ask why you chose to share these stories with us? I’m a little confused by your point. I read your other reply to this commenter, but I don’t see how these stories have anything to do with anything

I do drop shows sometimes, but for shows that I keep watching, it could be for multiple reasons. Ex: I think it could get better, it’s so bad but I can’t stop looking/it’s fun to laugh at, or it’s bad but doesn’t feel like a waste of time. But I only kept watching this show bc I love TutorYim so I wanted to support them/watch them. I did have to watch it at 2x speed tho (and that still felt too slow)

Is it obviously low budget? Yes but not in a bad way. And it either needed to be 15-30 minutes longer or the pacing could have been better. The storyline is a little weak but if you go into this with a fun mindset and knowing you’re going to watch a surface level show, it’s enjoyable. Personally, I don’t think its as bad as some people are saying, I just think they went in with too high of expectations.

I am a kpop fan but I’ve only loosely known about OnlyOneOf. That being said, the main leads’ acting is great. I feel like they were held back by being in a low budget show. If you put either of them into a medium-high budget production, they would really shine. Idk if it’s bc they felt comfortable with each other, but their acting is a lot more natural than many other BL actors. They have great natural looking mannerism. I just wish we got to see their characters’ relationship develop more.

The ending sucks, I’m a person who wants a kiss at the end and a good one, but all we got at the end was a hand hold, not even a hug!

I haven’t watched it but from what I’m told, you don’t need to. It seems like it’s loosely inspired by the original and not a continuation or exact copy.
