Yeah I understand mjty and sokp were very popular, but in comparison to lbfad which is the drama that made zlh famous, the aforementioned dramas aren't as well received. I enjoyed those dramas as well, but what I am trying to say is that if an actor needs to become an a lister, than they must have multiple shows with high ratings or high popularity. Sokp and mjty were indeed popular, both garnered over 100k votes on douban, but lbfad has over 800k.

Zlh and zjm aren't a listers yet. ZLH has filmed many dramas such as mjty and sokp which are well received internationally but received a few complaints domestically. He needs a few more dramas with stronger scripts in order to cement his status as an a lister. I would say zjm is more popular than him domestically, she is first on the billing. She has famous roles such as reset and wandering earth, but the only problem is that she doesn't have a dedicated fanbase like zlh and also doesn't have that many international fans. I hope this drama can bring more fans to both zlh and zjm internationally and domestically, allowing them both to be a-listers.

Based of the novel it shouldn't be, it's quite mature and angsty. Also the characters are 50 year olds trapped in an 18 year old body, so they act very maturely.

I also couldn't find a direct quote, but apparantly he said it one of his interviews. He didn't specifically say that he won't do romance, but he wants to do more serious productions not idol dramas. He is a child actor who the general public likes in china, but he never had a dedicated fanbase until he did idol dramas like tlb, lltg and nbu. I think now that he has a big fanbase + general public's favour, he thinks he has enough support to do more serious productions. Either way I wish him the best for the future, he is a very talented actor.

I first saw ZLH in Maiden Holmes and I thought he is the handsomest man I have ever met in my life, had really good acting skills despite that being his first drama and that he is going to be really famous one day. And guess what, he is famous now. Love between fairy and devil really boosted his popularity but his older works, especially Maiden Holmes is really good.

Ok so above 9 is very rare and those dramas are considered masterpieces. Douban is very different from mdl, mdl users are mostly drama fans and are usually young (there are older fans) whereas douban is more general public. So the dramas that get above 8 are usually family, politics or thriller dramas that the older population would enjoy. Romance dramas, especially idol dramas which are acted by young traffic actors, are sometimes looked down upon due to them not having an intricate plot, cnetz can be very picky the criticise the smallest things which mdl fans find insignificant. For AASOL the main complaint was that the some cnetz found it boring and found LY character creepy. Majority of idol dramas get a rating between 5 to 7, so a 6.9 is considered to be a good drama. Now there are exceptions such as Love between Fairy and Devil which got 8.1 and wu lei's drama Nothing but You which got 8.2, both which are amazing dramas that I highly recommend.
