same. this year hasn’t been that amazing in terms of good dramas from start to finish.
next years gonna be great! we got this, we got guardians of dafeng, ALL of ZLH’s dramas and kdramas! I’m desperately waiting for can you translate this love.
I completely and totally enjoyed the first half of the drama, but after ep 18 the drama just went downhill for…
took me forever to finish this drama for the reasons you said. I loved first half. I was completed engrossed in the drama. second half was god awful and totally boring. the story with the songstresses and her building clear mind?! all of it was such a drag. so unfortunate because I feel like dramas have been ending on a bad note for me which is so frustrating. I was so ready to give this a 10/10. I ended up giving it an 8 bc I remember how much I enjoyed the first half. UGH. what an upset
i started watching this for a third time after watching one and a half episodes of family by choice. I think just the fact that kdramas are shorter (16 episodes) vs the 30, 40, 50 episodes cdramas have, there just isnt enough time to display nuances and develop the deep relationships that really moved me in this drama. and this is solely a personal preference - nothing to do with storyline in either drama or actors or acting skill etc.
For example, one of my favorite scenes in go ahead is at the beginning when Ling Ba comes to pick up Ling Xiao. It's late at night and it's a somber-ish mood. Li Ba invites him in and says he prepared a few dishes so he can eat a late dinner. The three kids are sleeping soundly. The two men share stories of their painful past - their regrets, the duties of being an adult, and from there you just know that an unspoken decision has been made to raise the three kids together. And somehow, the heavy scene ends on a heartwarming note.
So maybe kdramas dont have time to spend on this scene because like i said, 16 episodes vs 40 episode. But for me, it's these little scenes that really give the characters depth. I didn't see that in family by choice; next scene was just them eating at the dinner table WHICH IS FINE TOO. I was just looking forward to how that scene would be executed because it just so happens to be one of my fave scenes.
starting four episode was just so so good their bickering movement was soul of the series and my expectation was…
I don’t mind love triangles. in fact, I love them. the issue for me with the ex coming back is he just unfortunately doesn’t LOOK like a worthy contender. it doesn’t matter if he’s only here for a few episodes or not. I just don’t believe in this character’s love for the female lead, seems a bit too passive for someone flying to another country to get his woman back. sigh and I’m sorry to say it but ML’s visuals are tier 1 and ex is like tier 2 or 3…. :X
It will be explained later but before that, little things will come out so you’ll kinda understand! If you want…
I see okay. I guess I just wasn’t sure if I’m supposed to be confused right now. thank you for the assurance!! no spoilers yet for me but now I know where to go if I need one. 😊 tysm!
