I feel a little lost right now but I’m pretty sure I just finished watching one of the best Chinese dramas of all time. Was it my favorite Chinese drama of all time? Nope.

I thought vegetable girl with a birthmark had a purpose. that maybe she would be embroiled in something later on and FL would have to save her. looking back, it’s like her character was just used to notate a passage of time.

oh that’s actually my question. so for those who don’t have wetv “VIP,” even episode 43 is delayed/not its usual airing time?

I thought 43 and the rest of the episodes were gonna drop at the usual time on Kisskh! What happened?!

can someone explain to me the significance of xinru and the marquis scene at the beginning? And how he somehow came to the realization that she never cared about the concubine? How did he get that from her response? Why did she say she’s going to give the concubine a grand ceremony? And why was he left in deep thought and chuckling? And what was the whole picture of his fighting family on first floor and second floor? And why were they even fighting?! So confused. Pls help a sis out.

I thought him bringing her to the gravesite on HER birthday was the final act of kindness that would have pushed her over the edge. that even though he doesn’t know it’s her, she can see the respect he still has for his once-betrothed all this time.

BUT! I appreciate you asking that question. bc now my delulu self is going to fantasize about that being the new moment where I will finally see her truly love him. I need this moment. I need it to believe 😭

I realized 40 episodes in that as an audience member, I’m not even fully convinced the FL loves the ML. It feels like everything she’s done is for the good of the family and her family so far. Doing the right thing and upholding virtue as a woman and as a wife. I really really needed a scene where I can see her reflecting and getting her ah-ha moment that she has unknowingly fallen for him.

I assumed it to be when she found out who buried her entire fam. I actually spent most of the drama fantasizing that would be THE MOMENT when she realized her husband’s true character and that would have been the scene we’ve all been waiting for.

Now listen I’m not asking for much. I actually don’t NEED a bedroom scene. I don’t even need a kiss. And it’s because this drama never set itself up for that. It never really focused on romance. To have such a scene or a TUB SCENE even, is like hmm this seems out of place. I just needed a quiet moment of her alone or in a crowded room where she’s sitting with her thoughts and suddenly the audience can see that she’s fallen for him.

I feel like that’s a closure I never got and it jumped straight into well, whatever that was. So it feels like I’m going to be watching this till the end with the understanding that these two simply have a solid, traditional, friendly, respectful partnership.

I thought he was going in for a cheek kiss. which I actually would have loved more and would have fit more imo. but then it was some awkward landing and I…sigh I just looked away and anxiously waited for the moment to pass.
