“somebody behind the scenes is giving these two very specific instructions” YES!!!! you right 🥰 it’s one of the first mainland Chinese dramas to hire an intimacy coordinator for these scenes! it’s common in western shows and even Taiwanese shows but incredibly rare or nonexistent in Chinese dramas. they’re usually just instructions given by the director and assistant directors
intimacy coordinators review the actors’ contracts that spell out EXACTLY what they’re willing and unwilling to do. and their main job is to make sure the actors feel comfortable and safe! that’s prob why they look so good in sensual scenes. there’s someone monitoring every movement.
