I don’t care about diving into the deep conflict between Li and Wei. Esp this late in the game. I already know they’re at odds. If they wanted to elaborate on this feud with the son and grandson breaking legs, put it earlier and maybe I’ll pay attention then.

I feel like the drama invested so much time in the main leads developing relationship at Lin An. Their interactions felt carefully crafted with the promise of more intimacy later on when he reveals his identity but we’re just not getting that. It feels like the dramas trying to get too creative with the politics now but ain’t nobody has the bandwidth to learn new things this late in the game. And with these extended political scenes, we get cameos of our leads for a few minutes at a time in each of these later episodes.

They should be giving us substantial fuzziness between the leads to ease all the tension we sat through for the past 32 episodes! I’m pretty bummed. I’m still watching as it airs and am trying to stay away from spoilers but just from the sound and look of it, the ending doesn’t seem promising. What a gigantic waste of immense potential right now.

I ALSO WANT THE SAME THING. if I can get 40 min of screen time of just his face? I promise I’ll be okay. instead we see a few seconds of him from window up above and one minute of him in the alley.

7 episodes left and they spent more time showing the emperor cry than our leads, who we spent 32 episodes investing our time in. what. in the actual. EF.

even their alleyway meetup was short and lame. just feels like they’re extras in their own drama.

you know what’s interesting though. I think of prisoner of beauty and I think the leads’ roles were evenly split. she was brains and beauty and he was brains and strength. the drama highlighted what she was good at and was able to do the same for him. gah. I’m so obsessed with this drama. I absolutely love it but I really do wish this aspect of the story was better portrayed. I didn’t read the novel but a friend told me he had many battle scenes in the book showcasing his marquis-ness. I suppose it’s what OP said, we just have to assume he’s powerful in this case.

ah you’re right…maybe second lead scenes hit more bc it feels a little forbidden and dark too. not to mention the music that plays in the background during their scenes. but 🥲…. kinda sad about what we got. esp after waiting so long.

YOOOO. this 💯 I was just talking to my friend about this. it’s a little too female lead centric for me. I thought okay maybe at the beginning bc it’s her village and she’s head of household and he’s a live in son in law, she calls the shots. that’s totally normal.

but if it has transitioned into HIS territory - battlefield and politics? I need to see some bad@ssery from him esp since the first half of the episode spent a lot of time TALKING about what a powerful man he is. I wanna see some battle scenes from start to finish where he gets to show his prowess. I feel like the only snippet we’ve gotten so far is eunuch tent scene which I loved.

THIRTY THREE EPISODES LATER. I feel like the bts that dropped a year ago when they were filming was spicier than the scene itself. the issue is that they kept cutting the scene with hands and shadows AND we’d get mainly heads or angles that would block the actual contact we’ve been thirsting for. and said contact was smooshed faces rather than that give and take that sets fires ablaze - see upside down Spider-Man kiss with qi and yu.

I mean…. it was amazing bc of the wait but given the scenes we got with Qi Min and Yu Qian, basically knowing that’s the kinda stuff they got and that’s the kinda POTENTIAL WE COULD GET… their scene left a little too much on the table for the me. 🫠
