Thank you for the article. Looking forward to the next installment. It is especially significant since in 1910…
Probably not since most of the movies were super political, the only one so far was the movie about the crown prince of korea visiting Japan and them show casing he was happy to quell the masses.
Amazing article! For the little I know, I heard that the word "drama" came actually from Japan cause they start…
I will get there when I get to the 40's the first drama is already in the DB but most of the actors migrated from cinema companies so building the early movie database is helping me get to doramas
1940s-1990s Japanese films>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2000s-2020s…
I'll get there eventually, I am also doing TV shows when I get to the 40's in a sister article
Super impressive, thank you! Can you recommand me a good English or French book on the subject?
I have several downloaded in PDF form but alas they all start about 1920 the sources I linked on the bottom of the article are where I compiled this information from
❓Have you ever written an article before, anywhere❓ I actually have published poems and genealogy books and tons on MDL ❓If you have written an article in MDL, what are your experiences❓ This is more what I have learned. 1. Ignore negative comments, apologize for your mistakes and do better each time 2. Promote in the feeds, The app does not feature articles, so promoting in the feeds will get more people looking at your article 3. Do not forget to like and promote your own articles on what ever social media you use. I do the facebook like, the heart at the top and link to twitter. ❓Any interesting topic you want to write about (no need to answer here if it's a secret ;D)❓ Currently thinking of starting a series that start with the first few years of japanese cinema, highlighting the cinematographers and producers that started it all, and then going by decade through out the series, splitting when I get to dramas in the 1940's This article will also talk about production companies.
❓If you are a reader: do you have any unique topic you want to know about❓ When i read an article I always look for what is familiar, have I watched it, do I follow that actor? I love when i can tell an author has put thoughts and love into an article. you can tell even if the subject is not to your taste.
❓ What do you think of MDL articles❓
I love writing them, I love reading them, I love doing the research for them. (Watching dramas/movies)
Thank you for this series I will definitely be using them for next years Watch challenge.
How did your Jdrama Journey start? I was stuck at home for Medical reasons and burnined through EVERY SHOUNEN ANIME I wanted to watch on Crunchyroll. I watch 1 Shojo Anime (Say I love you) and craved more...decided to try live action and Itazura na kiss was on the same platform. That was in 2016, I am now approaching 1000 Titles completed. Most from Japan.
Do you have any tips for any Newcomers? What genre you like in your own language or comfort country may NOT be the the genre you like from this country.
Japanese humor is usually a physical type comedy or comes off as Middle schoolish with sex jokes and funny faces and over exaggerated physical movements. Also puns on language as many "sounds" have different Kanji that mean different things and vice versa.
If you are looking for hot and steamy romances with lots of physical, until 2018 or so you will not find many. Its more about compatibility and completing each other. That doesn't mean you wont get a bed scene, or a miss-kiss at the end, you just wont get HBO (its not porn its HBO).
Psychological and Slice of Life is where Japan excels
Other Niche Genre are Yanki Dramas (High schoolers gangsters that fight ), Kaiju (Giant Monsters like Godzilla) and Tokusatsu (sci-fi heroes like power rangers and Kamen Rider)
