This was a solid and entertaining adventure. Fate and karma intermingle on this one. Acting was very good, music fit the mood, and the direction/cinematography were fine. Was it perfect? No, but I'll certainly rewatch this is in the future. Would have loved to see a little more on the chef/sister relationship and less on the annoying Manager... but that's just my view. Haven't read the webtoon but I think I'll do that next week.
Not what I was expecting but a decent [yet very emotional] watch. If your exposure to this drama are the trailers provided on Netflix, you may want to to dig a little deeper into the drama's synopsis before deciding to watch. I was okay with the story line but would have been more vested in a deeper dive into the relationship of the three FLs. With every three sided relationship, there is always someone left out... and that's very evident here. Dragged towards the end, I didn't find much chemistry between the FLs/MLs but the final episode hit me like a ton of bricks.
I enjoyed this thoroughly! Sure, it's of its time but the story was fun, the acting was good, and cinematography + music were fine. It dragged a little in the middle but ended well with closures all around. A fun watch.
Exceptionally good. This was on my "to watch" list for the past year and I'm kicking myself for not watching it earlier. The storylines, plot twists, intrigue, backstabbing, smiles, tears were all amazing. Kudos to the writers, directors, cinematographers and actors on this one as it was excellent. Never a dull moment: heroes I rooted for, villains I hated, and support characters that kept me engaged. This changed my mind about period dramas. Should have watched this sooner.
This Ran On and On and On and On. Way too many sub plots that only scratched the surface. It would have been a much more satisfying watch if they spent time further developing the ML/FL relationship [which really had no emotion as presented]. Endless tangents to nothing. Oh well, at least I was introduced to Shin Se-kyung and will go explore other dramas that she acted in. Always think positive ;)
i don't get how they so easily believed Hae-young killed Chi-soo. like do you really think someone who works as…
Maybe he really wasn't that smart? I mean he missed that the envelope with the final communication [mailed to his mother's house, final episode] was from the nursing hospital. He tracked down the location with the postmark but the real location turned out to be printed right on the envelope. I guess I'm going on a rant with this one as it was a well written drama but this particular event ruined it a little for me [unless I'm misunderstanding something].
Once in a while you stumble across a drama that strikes a chord or touches you deeply. The sense of loss, the sense of guilt, and the longing for returning to the past... I think we've all had those emotions/thoughts. But you can't live within your memories. Thoroughly enjoyed the ML/FL characters that were brought to life so effectively by Seo Ji-hoon and So Ju-yeon. A great watch!
Better than I expected actually. Certainly lots of eye candy with the main cast, acting was hit and miss but mostly on the positive side, and the friendships/rivalries were decently crafted. Everyone should have a sister like Lim Hee Kyung and a friend like Han Seo Joon [you have to reach the end to understand].
Overall, this was a light and entertaining watch. Was it flawless? No but it was worth my time. I enjoyed the dynamics + relationship between the ML/FL and could relate to their situation [perhaps that's why I liked it so much]. The surrounding stories were fine but I found myself only engaged with the leading couple. Acting was great, soundtrack was fine, and I didn't have the need to ff through anything. Give it a try, you may like it.
It took me 5 months to complete Part 1 but only 3 days to complete Part 2. This was where the real excitement was... well worth the watch. Acting was excellent as was the cinematography. Great ensemble and the story had enough twists and turns to make it interesting without it becoming unbelievable.
This was a good drama that could have been great. The acting was solid [special kudos to Woo Do-hwan], OST was decent [although slightly derivative of Goblin], and the story was interesting [hmmm... there were elements of Goblin here too]. If the scope of the story was tighter or more character definition occurred, it would have been better. Also, the romance accelerated at break neck speed leaving me wondering if I missed something. Odd, this was good but it left me a little disappointed.
Fun Fact: While watching this I dug a little into the actors backgrounds and came across pictures of Lee Min-ho shopping at my local Shoppers Drug Mart in Etobicoke. Small world indeed.
This was a tough one to finish but, nevertheless, I did. The FL character was flawed to an almost annoying level but Han So-hee did a good job portraying the character. Not since Something in the Rain had I yelled at the tv as much, asking the FL "Why?". Yes, the heart wants want it wants but daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn this has bad decision written all over it. Honestly, I was more vested in two of the other couples and that was the saving grace for me on this one. Acting was fine but I really wish some backstory was provided to round out the characters and provide more insight. I didn't hate this but it's not a favourite.
It's unfortunate that this film was overlooked at TIFF (my local film festival) it was as enjoyable as Concrete Utopia (which received more press). Both Female leads were excellent, is there anything Kim Hye-soo can't do? Secondary actors were solid as well and the story line was very interesting. An enjoyable watch!
Started watching this as the episodes aired in my region but placed it on hold after the 4th episode. Loved the cast, the ML+FL are great actors but I just wasn't attached to the story and found their chemistry lacking. Figured it would be best to binge watch the series so waited until last weekend to start it up again.
Honestly, I found this an interesting and emotional watch, well worth my time. While the ML+FL [and support] actors were excellent, I still found their chemistry somewhat non-electric. Perhaps I was hoping for similar chemistry of IOTNBO but maybe that's not fair, it's a different story. Villains were well portrayed, OST was great and the cinematography was well done. Could have lived with less crying but the title is Queen of Tears. Really enjoyed Lee Joo-bin in this, I'm hoping that more main roles will follow for her. I guess I'm one of the odd ones that thought the ending was decent as it was foreshadowed, provided a definitive end but allowed for your imagination to fill in the blanks. Well done.
Well that was certainly an interesting ending... hopefully not for the series though. There are enough loose ends and open storylines that could easily fill a 10 episode season 2. I thought the story was compelling, the acting was excellent and the action scenes were well choreographed. Smoldering chemistry between the ML/FL was quite evident and I'm glad Mansik is safe.
On a side note, I've been happily surprised with the kdramas on Disney+ recently. This, Moving, Flex x Cop, Revenant, soundtrack, Call It Love, etc... they've all been very good.
Entertaining! Solid story and acting, as good as the hype. Ending was unexpected but fit right in. Enjoyed all the acting, especially Park So-dam. A good watch.
Finished this last night, it could definitely have been tighter. Would have enjoyed a bit more focus on Hwarang [training, back stories] and less on the false tensions and certainly less of Ah Ro crying. Acting was hit and miss, some bromance could have been portrayed stronger and the overall storyline wasn't the strongest. Not a bad watch, just not great.
This was a tough watch, although the last 3 episodes redeemed the series [sort of]. I didn't mind the non-linear telling of the story, the acting was fine but there were a ton of loose ends... well, except for the inevitable. Would have benefited from more background on the characters so that you cared about what happened to them and why they were like that. Very interesting premise that failed to materialize to its full potential.
This was a quirky adventure that sort of lost its way at the end. Acting was fine, chemistry between the leads was great and the ensemble held their own. Highlight for me was Han Ji-eun, she was fantastic and brought her character to life effortlessly. Overall a fun watch.
