Hidden Love ʚଓ A Beautiful Story of Timing and True Love ʚଓ
SUMMARY ❀˖°🍓Sang Zhi catches feelings for Duan Jiaxu the guy who used to always come over and hang out in her older brother’s room playing games. He’s five years older than her. When she was younger, she had this huge crush on him, but then they lost contact for a while. Later on, after Sang Zhi graduates, she ends up going to university in the same city as him. And from all their little moments together, getting closer day by day, they slowly fall in love. It’s based on "Secretly, Secretly; But Unable to Hide It" (偷偷藏不住) by Zhu Y.
Hidden Love is a beautiful, well-written love story that deals with friendship, sibling dynamics, family, and the journey of Sang Zhi and Duan Jiaxu’s love story. It’s about two people who started off at the right age and the right time. Sang Zhi is this vibrant, super friendly girl who first meets Duan Jiaxu when she’s young. As a teen, yeah, she did like him first, but as she grew up, she got to know him better and learned a lot of good lessons that helped her stay focused on her studies.
The way their story plays out is honestly so beautiful. They meet again when Sang Zhi leaves for university, and little by little, as they start talking more, Duan Jiaxu falls for her too. Eventually, he asks to woo her, and that’s when they officially get together. Hidden Love never made their story feel wrong or weird, Sang Zhi was at the right age, and everything happened at the right time. It was never about anything inappropriate, no matter what some people tried to say.
CHARACTERS 𓂃 ོ☼𓂃
Chen Zhe Yuan As Duan Jiaxu ⋆˙⟡♡
Starting off with Duan Jiaxu he’s such a well-written male lead. He went through some serious hardships because of what happened in his family. The consequences of his dad’s actions messed him up a lot, and people around him always criticized him no matter what he did. But even with everything he went through, Duan Jiaxu stayed focused. He never let it break him. He kept pushing toward his goals and worked hard to build a better future, not just for himself but also to pay off his family’s debt.
Along his journey, he met Sang Yan his male best friend, before he even crossed paths with Sang Zhi again. Then came Sang Zhi, and honestly, she was like this light that showed up during all his dark nights. But what’s beautiful too is that Jiaxu didn’t just rely on others he healed himself too.
Duan Jiaxu is a man of his word. He’s so determined, hardworking, and respectful. He doesn’t just care for Sang Zhi, he takes care of her in the most beautiful, patient way. And let’s be real, he’s also handsome, super charismatic, and elegant without even trying.
Chen Zheyuan absolutely brought this role to life. He didn’t just act Duan Jiaxu he became him. Every little look, every smile, the way he carried all of Jiaxu’s pain, hope, and love,it was so natural. I could feel everything through his expressions alone. He brought so much depth and softness to Jiaxu’s character that it made you love him even more. Honestly, no one else could have pulled off Duan Jiaxu the way Chen Zheyuan did. He understood the assignment and delivered it better than anyone could have imagined.
Zhao Lu Si As San Zhi 𓂃˖˳·˖ ִֶָ ⋆🌷͙⋆ ִֶָ˖·˳˖𓂃 ִֶָ
Sang Zhi is such a well-written female lead. I loved seeing all the transitions she went through how she handled being a younger sister, a daughter, a friend, and then growing into her own person. She was so good with her relationships with everyone around her. Whether it was with her family, her friends, or anyone she met, Sang Zhi always knew how to balance being sweet and playful while still being respectful. She’s the type of girl you can’t help but like because she’s real, she's humble, and she carries herself so well.
Even though her parents are rich, Sang Zhi never acted entitled. She was raised right, you could see it in the way she spoke, the way she treated people, and how she handled tough situations without ever looking down on anyone. And honestly, her maturity was such a treat to watch. She knew when to be playful, when to be serious, and when to step back and reflect. She was smart too, not just in school, but emotionally smart.
And Zhao Lusi? She Slayed in this role. She didn’t just play Sang Zhi, she made Sang Zhi feel alive. I kept rewinding during her close-up scenes because she was so gorgeous and her expressions were just perfect. Every little look she gave said more than words could. Lusi really captured all the layers of Sang Zhi, her innocence, her growth, her confidence and she made it look effortless. I really admire how she gave Sang Zhi so much heart and made you connect with her instantly.
Victor Ma As Sang Yan .☘︎ ݁˖
Sang Yan was such a good brother to Sang Zhi. You could really tell he cared about her deep down, even when he was acting all funny and teasing her. He never once treated her badly, it was always that typical older brother energy where he jokes around but would still fight anyone who hurt her. I loved how their sibling bond felt so real and natural, not forced at all. They bickered, they teased each other, but at the end of the day, Sang Yan always had Sang Zhi’s back.
And as a friend, Sang Yan was honestly such a good one to Duan Jiaxu too. He never judged Jiaxu for the hardships he went through and always treated him like family. Their friendship felt solid like even if they didn’t say much sometimes, you knew they were loyal to each other no matter what. Sang Yan was the bridge that connected Sang Zhi and Duan Jiaxu in the beginning without even knowing it, and I just loved how he was always present in both their lives without being overbearing.
Victor Ma's Acting here was very natural and good, i loved how he conveyed the comedy in this drama, it felt natural and not cring at all and he was very good as a big brother.
SUPPORTING CHARACTERS
I also have to say the supporting characters in this drama were so good. Everyone’s acting felt so natural and real. It never felt like they were acting just to move the story along; it felt like every character had their own life and story going on in the background. It made the whole world of the drama feel more alive and believable. You could tell the whole cast understood their roles and made everything come together so perfectly.
ROMANCE PART────୨ৎ────
I love the romance in the drama, everything came out at the right time, right moment, and the feelings were mutual and not forced at all. The maturity in Sang Zhi was such a treat to watch, Lusi really slayed here as she always does and I kept rewinding during all her close-up moments cos she's so gorgeous. I love how Jiaxu respects Sang Zhi and never crossed any boundaries.
I liked how the drama showed how a healthy relationship should be, just like Sang Zhi and Jiaxu, even when there is a misunderstanding they open up to each other on time. It’s so refreshing to see two characters communicate, compromise, and show vulnerability without it feeling too dramatic or over the top. Their dynamic felt like a real relationship – supportive, understanding, and full of mutual respect. The way Jiaxu listens to Sang Zhi and values her feelings is just... chef's kiss.
There are so many scenes I loved in the drama and I really liked the proposal scene, the birthday scenes, like I said every scene. EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM IS CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・. The little moments of just them being together, laughing, or sharing a quiet gaze... it felt so pure. And let's not forget the chemistry, it's electric, but in such a natural way. These two were so in sync with each other, and it’s honestly the kind of relationship that makes you believe in love a little more. Just... PERFECTION.
Favorite Scenes 🐻❄️ྀིྀི
I loved the OST so much. It just blended perfectly with the drama. Every song matched the mood, and it made each scene even more emotional. The music didn’t overpower the moments ,it enhanced them.
Their first date
Sang Zhi’s birthday
Sang Zhi with her friends
Sang Yan and Sang Zhi’s bickering
Every moment of Sang Zhi and Duan Jiaxu’s relationship-from their awkward but sweet conversations to their more mature moments, I was living for all of it. Their growth as a couple was so natural.
The proposal scene
Overall Thoughts on Hidden Love 。 ₊°༺❤︎༻°₊ 。
Hidden Love is easily one of the best dramas I’ve watched. The story is so well-written, and everything just falls into place. The way love, family, friendship, and life in general are portrayed is amazing. Author Zhu Yi has a real gift when it comes to blending all these aspects and creating something that feels real and heartwarming. She doesn’t just write a love story she writes an entire life story. Honestly, I might need to ask her to write my own love story (LOL).
This drama is so rewatchable for me. It's never boring, and I can watch it over and over. I even watched the special episode where the behind-the-scenes cuts and the main leads shared their experiences. It was so nice seeing how comfortable they are with each other and how friendly they seemed off-camera. Since I joined the Hidden Love fandom a bit late, I’m not sure how the fans feel about each other, but I really hope Lusi and Jiaxu get paired up again. It’d be tough to get a second season, though.
The summer’s coming, so you bet I’m going to rewatch it again. Even when I was tired after work, I watched it, and it made me feel alive again. It’s just that good. Now, I’m diving into watching edits and even planning to create a Pinterest board for this drama.
So, would I recommend this drama? A thousand YES, no doubt. Would I rewatch it? Well, I’ve already said yes, and it’s a big YES. And here’s the thing: watch it at your own pace, don’t let FOMO rush you. I watched it at my own pace, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

And when I finally caught up to him, that's when I knew that I wasn't the only one running. He was running towards me too. In these five whole years, I healed his trauma. " We may destroy each other at times, but we're also the ones who save each other"
" We may destroy each other at times, but we're also the ones who save each other". Therefore, we are both each other's destroyers and saviors." My Demon" is one of the first kdrama i enjoyed watching without getting bored, i was always excited to watch the new episodes when it aired every Friday and Saturday.
STORY: My demon is a fantasy rom com that tells the story of Guwon and Dohee, it switched from supernatural, romance,
Joseon era (which is the key foundation to Guwon and Dohee's Love story),thriller, family drama, CEOxbodyguard, and just
the right balance and mix that had me waiting impatiently for the next episode. Guwon and Dohee's love story started
as enemies to marriage contract to lovers and fighting for love to be with each other. Though their fate was cruel to them,
they always found a way to overcome every trials they faced. The past live of Yisun and Wolsim was beautiful yet tragic. I
do have a lot more to say about this drama but i will keep my review short.
CAST: Song Kang: He played the role of Guwon, i liked the fact that he didn't remain stoic and cold and aloof the entire time,
rather he displayed silliness, malewife role , and his comedic side is so funny.
Kim Yoojung: I could feel the depth of her character Dohee just by watching her, she portrayed the role of a
CEO, a cute wife and a strong woman who is outstanding. I could also feel the emotions through her eyes as she
embodied Dohee like a real human who went through so many pain. The pairing of Song kang and Kim Yoojung together
created an explosive magical chemistry, that word's cannot describe and i am grateful to have gotten to know them more
because of this drama. The side characters all played well as each of them portrayed the characters of humans, The
gangsters are so funny and have a good enemy to lovers bond with Guwon.
Although the story of My Demon may have its ups and downs, I was truly invested in the story of Guwon and Dohee, their love story is really captivating and touching, as they went through so many eventful times were they had to save each other again and again until they finally conquered. The emotional connection between them made me feel the love they both have for each other. Though some may not like their cute couple moments but each time i watch them i always find myself smiling so hard.
WHY I LOVE MY DEMON
Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang have good chemistry between them, the way they interact with each other, the eye contacts, and how comfortable they are around each other. They defined chemistry in the way i could not describe because i can feel just by watching them.
OST : My Demon Ost is so good as each song has meaningful words that adds to the story and the melody is soothing to my ear, my fav ost is "With You" by winter of Aespa girl group." True" by Yoari is also good as its the intro song used in the drama and i never for once skipped the intro even though i was eager to watch the new episodes.
ACTING : Song Kang played his role as a demon and human as he did a good job portraying the character of a self -absorbed demon, playful and funny human too. He has the potential of becoming a more better actor and I hope to see him excel more when he returns from the military. I have watched some of Kim Yoojung's drama and she is indeed a good actress who can portray different characters in one play, she did so well in her thriller parts i could feel the agony, sadness, happiness, and her crying scenes here in this drama and I hope for all the best in her career.
STORYLINE: I enjoyed the storyline in this drama, the angst scenes, the past live story which was a big part of this drama which was built with historical and cultural references, making it more bittersweet and so rightfully satisfying even though some people complained about this troupe it was very useful here as it answered all my questions. The religion aspect here made me like this drama more as I could relate to most parts that talks about Christianity and was also the link to Guwon and Dohee's story. I really have so much to say about this story but I think my review is becoming too long now.
PARALLELISM: The parallelism in My Demon is my roman empire because it explains that "history repeats itself " which is true and it happens. As their fate was cruel in the past but ended in the present as they both conquered all the hardships they faced and started a new beginning.
CINEMATOGRAPHY- Aesthetically pleasing throughout each episodes .
The story of Guwon and Dohee ended happily but left audience thinking if it's truly a happy ending because Guwon still returns as a demon and Dohee as a human and i say yes it is a HAPPY ENDING because Dohee wished to have him back and their lives are linked together, when Dohee dies so will Guwon because his life is her wish. This is also implied by God that said "silly humans" meaning that both in fact will go eventually brought back for a limited time. Also the good on the hat of God is now shining so it means good ending. They will always find each other and Love each other for as long as they can.
As i end my review, I would like to say that this drama may not have satisfied everyone but i was truly satisfied even though some mistakes were made, nothing is perfect but the story of Guwon and Dohee is Perfect and memorable, leaving me with so many quotes to remember.
My fav Quotes : " Caught in the crossfire of hatred and misfortune ceaselessly hurt each other and destroy each other's
souls. However, despite all that, our lives and this world continues. Perhaps that's because there are more
people who save each other with their love and trust".
" I can do all things through him who strengthens me - Bible verse Phil 4: 13.

"Where Wounds Fade Gently, and Love Finds Its Way"
SUMMARY :Love Next Door skillfully balances deep emotional wounds and the slow healing that comes with time and love. There’s also a beautiful exploration of friendship and how the relationships we hold dear from childhood can influence our adult lives. The family dynamics, career struggles, and personal growth all intertwine as Seokryu and Seunghyo navigate their shared history and rekindle their romance. It’s about letting go of the past while forging a new path forward.
CHARACTERS
BAE SEOK RYU (The Quiet Storm) ⭐❤︎
Bae SeokRyu is a complex character whose perspective and actions can be misinterpreted. I found Seokryu’s character relatable in terms of family expectations, being the first child and a woman in society. I love Seokryu’s journey in this drama, even when she made mistakes by not telling her family about her illness. I understood her because she feared pity and judgment, especially due to her upbringing.
There are so many things I loved about SeokRyu. For example, her cooking skills are thanks to Seunghyo’s ex-girlfriend who helped her realize her true career passion. Her love for cooking isn't just about feeding others, it's a language of its own. Every meal she prepares feels like a carefully crafted story, with ingredients chosen as thoughtfully as words. She's the kind of person who brings food into every conversation, whether she's using it to explain something or to lighten the mood. Jung Somin Portrayed Bae SeokRyu’s character ,she brought so much depth and emotion to this role even without saying a word.
Seokryu’s quiet strength and emotional depth reflect a character who is learning how to heal and open up to love again.
SEOKRYU’S GROWTH
Development through illness: Though not shown broadly in the drama, her illness made her feel reserved and vulnerable. She learns to accept help from others and confront the reality of her mortality.
Emotional growth: She learns to balance vulnerability with her desire for independence and strength in love and friendship.
CHOI SEUNGHYO (The Anchor)❤︎
First of all, I love Seunghyo’s profession as an architect, not just for his forearms, but because of my love for houses, even though the show didn’t focus on this much. This was the perfect line of work for him, instead of being a swimmer. Every time I see Seunghyo’s character on screen, the first thing I notice is how his eyes have this mellow vibe. His character is flawed but well-balanced. I liked that he had an ex, which helped him learn a thing or two about love instead of waiting endlessly for Seokryu.
I felt bad for his childhood self, being abandoned by his mother at a young age because she didn't want to live just as a mother but also as a career woman. This affected his childhood and caused him to draw conclusions before someone could explain. Nevertheless, Seunghyo is such a lover boy, sometimes quick in his requests but always reasonable. I love how he did his best to be there for Seokryu. Jung Haein Portrayed Choi Seunghyo’s character so well that his acting felt so natural , from the smallest mannerisms to the emotional high and low .
SEUNGHYO’S GROWTH
From self-centered to caring: Initially self-absorbed and distant from SeokRyu because of his feelings, he changed once he learned about her past. Though sometimes quick with his decisions, he learned to be patient.
Development in love: He tried to distance himself from Seokryu and was harsh at times, but after realizing his mistakes, he learned to support her without pitying her, accepting that love comes with challenges.
MOEUM (The Friend Who Heals)-`♡´-
A third friend in their dynamic, Moeum also finds comfort in her own romantic journey. She plays an essential role in their trio, representing the shared history and support system they provide each other. Her story is a gentle reflection of broader themes of healing and love. I love how Moeum brings their friendship together, always making time to be there for Seokryu and Seunghyo when they need her.
Seunghyo and Moeum had a funny friendship dynamic. Moeum is brave and lovely, and she's realistic about love and passionate about her job. I’m glad she made it to the South Pole, with her family, friends, and lover supporting her until her return.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
I appreciated how the writer gave every character flaws. In a slice-of-life drama like this, no one was perfect. First, Seokryu is a complex and vulnerable character, and while we didn’t see much growth in how she loved, the show portrayed the different dynamics between two people in love. Seokryu’s illness made her skeptical about her decisions, using illness as a plot device that explored meaningful themes like vulnerability, resilience, and the impact of mortality on relationships.
All the characters showed growth after learning about her illness. In general, I would say there was growth in some areas, more so toward the end. There were times I felt frustrated with the characters' decisions, but I ended up understanding their perspective, even if it wasn’t always shown clearly in the drama.
I also loved Seunghyo’s parents’ growth. They had been misunderstood for years, but eventually, they resolved their conflicts and became close like newlyweds. Seokryu’s mom still had a complex arc, but there were moments when she changed her behavior. And Seokryu’s dad was always one of the best characters a father who wasn’t great career-wise but was always there for his family.
ROMANCE
Seokryu's slow process of falling in love with Seunghyo was beautifully portrayeddressing differently, making sure she looked good, cooking his favorite meals, and feeling jealous when his ex was around. Jung Haein and Jung Somin’s chemistry was undeniable. They looked so natural and comfortable on screen, making me blush, giggle, smile, and cry during the emotional scenes.
The romance between Seokryu and Seunghyo unfolds at a gentle pace, filled with nostalgia, rediscovery, and growth. Their chemistry feels authentic, and the tender moments stand out more than grand gestures. While some may think Seokryu doesn’t love Seunghyo because he shows more affection, it’s due to her vulnerability. During their relationship, Seokryu was still healing from her past and feared her illness would return, making her reluctant to let Seunghyo suffer as she had.
Moeum and Danho’s relationship was another highlight. Moeum didn’t force her feelings on him after she found out the truth about his past , rather she decided to be friends with him until he confessed.
EX STORYLINE
The EX storyline really helped explain Seokryu’s complexities in the drama. They both loved each other, but due to circumstances of Seokryu getting stomach cancer and depression, she didn't let any of her family members know of this situation. Faced with her emotional turmoil due to her condition, a pivotal moment occurred where her ex snapped at her, making her feel misunderstood. She breaks up with him, wanting to protect him from the burden of her struggles.
After spending a year focused on her healing and returning to her hometown, she acknowledges that while her ex wishes to mend their relationship, “they can fix the ring but not the relationship itself.” She realizes that returning to him would only subject him to the same pain she endured. Ultimately, her journey leads her to a deeper, more supportive love with her childhood best friend, illustrating that sometimes, personal growth requires letting go of past relationships, even when it seems unfair to those who cared for her.
FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE
Friendship and love are intricately woven into the story. Seokryu, Seunghyo, and Moeum share a bond that has survived the years and the distance. I called their group “The Chaotic Crew” before Mr. Mudflat Man came into the picture. Their friendship is the foundation that allows them to explore deeper feelings and eventually rekindle their romances.
Love in this drama isn't just romantic; it’s about the strength of friendships, the support of family, and the healing power of being understood by those who know you best. The unconditional love between the three friends is one of the show’s greatest strengths, a reminder that sometimes the most important relationships are those we’ve had since childhood.
FAMILY
Family plays a crucial role in the characters' development. Seokryu’s return to her family home forces her to confront unresolved issues from her past, shedding light on the complexities of familial relationships. The show captures the bittersweet reality of family dynamics sometimes strained, sometimes loving, but always deeply rooted in the characters’ identities. These interactions help Seokryu realize that healing isn’t just about romance; it’s also about reconciling with the past and understanding your place within your family.
I loved that Dong-in, though he felt inferior and made some mistakes in his choices, learned his lesson and changed his ways. I appreciate the writer for showing us sibling dynamics with growth. The family in Hyerung-Dong neighborhood brought warmth to my heart, made me cry, laugh, and wish to have such a happy family, even with their complexities.
I liked everything about the Lavender ladies, they brought so much smile to my face and i wished we had a backstory of their high school. All the side characters were so interesting that I didn't feel that their scenes were “Fillers”.
LIKES\LOVE
LND Titles – I like the titles from the Beginning of the drama and the End because it helps me understand the main focus of each Ep’s and impact to the story.
Childhood Friends to Lovers – I liked the transitions of the leads being childhood friends to lovers, and that they showed the Awkwardness when someone starts dating even though you have known each other for long. They both have different Love Dynamics in this drama. I also like the lead's bickering scenes in the drama. It was funny to see them being in love but the friendship vibe never left.
Peak Romance of Seung Ryu (Slow burn) . Hugs , their love for food and words of comfort when one partner feels down , Passionate Kiss (Ep 12 Consent) and some little peck scenes. I wanted more of their short montage dating scenes. It was so beautiful to watch, especially when Seunghyo hugs SeokRyu. SeungRyu’s Dating era was everything i wanted and got, i didn't feel cringe when they acted silly together rather i was giggling and squealing at how cute they are.
Great Dads- The Dads becoming best friends in the drama was a nice plot twist and I laughed anytime they hung out together.

DISLIKES
One of the key issues with Love Next Door was its marketing. While the drama itself was a deeply emotional and nuanced exploration of love, friendship, and healing, it was marketed as a romcom, which led to the wrong audience being drawn in. Many viewers were expecting a lighthearted, funny romance, but instead, they got something different . If the drama had been marketed as a melodrama or slice-of-life, the audience would have better understood the story’s deeper themes and emotional tone. Though i am glad that i understood the story of this drama.
Overall, I think there might be some dislikes I may not have mentioned because i did get what LND stands for in terms of genres so my critics would be that the writing had its flaws but no drama is perfect. I just wished I could change them here.
ENDING :
The ending of Love Next Door left viewers with mixed emotions. While the finale itself is happy and fulfilling in many ways, it doesn’t go as far as some fans would have hoped. The wedding scene, a staple in many romance dramas, is notably missing. Still, the ending isn’t about a wedding, it's a hopeful new beginning for the characters, suggesting that their story doesn’t end with a typical “happily ever after,” but with the promise of a shared future. I personally liked the ending even though I wanted more.
PERSONAL THOUGHTS❁
What I appreciate most about Love Next Door is the way it treats love as something fragile but worth fighting for. It’s a show that touches on the bittersweet reality that relationships, even those we cherish deeply, can fall apart due to misunderstandings, and that sometimes it’s in the smallest moments of healing where love truly finds its way. LND is a story that i would love to rewatch during the Winter season to feel my heart with warmth, its a story that might not be appreciated by everyone but thats okay we all have different opinions .
I realized that Complex characters are always misinterpreted or not fully understood when less perspectives are shown, especially women in Kdramas, From QOT Haein- Atypical Family- Do da Hee and Bae Seok Ryu- LND. These characters are one of my fav women complex characters. They are misunderstood due to less perspectives shown in the drama but I could see through these characters and understand them.
I would recommend this drama if you like slice of life, melo drama with romance and little comedy, sometimes it's slow paced but also fast, the drama has relatable lessons and watching everyone grow from being distant to becoming inseparable.
In Conclusion i would say “Love Next Door” was a good Slice of Life , Melodrama and Romance drama with little Comedy but if you ask me on a deeper level why i lIke “ Love Next Door “ i would say It was a breath of fresh air, a show where women’s needs and wants were valued and prioritized.A place where a woman’s dream is valid and she can take a job in the South Pole and her Brand new relationship stays Strong.
A place where a hyper independent woman learns that she is loved deeply either way. A place where friendships blossom amidst the ups and downs. Where older Couples can rediscover the intense love they have for their partners and are ready to fight for themselves. A place where food is confirmed love language & food builds bridges. A place where best friends are for life ! A place where words hold value & stand as promises fulfilled . I will never forget you” Love Next Door” You were Beautiful, Warm and Amazing ✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦ ( Thanks to my wonderful friend outside MDL who inspired me with this part).
Thanks For Reading and i hope LND warms your heart 𓆩♡𓆪

The Heart of Fangs of Fortune: A Journey Through Characters, Mysticism, and Emotional Depth
Fangs Of Fortune also known as " The Story of Mystics" or " The Big Dream Returns" , is a supernatural and mystical drama that follows the adventures of a group of people with unique talents and powers who come together to solve cases and uncover various mysteries. This drama features incredible action scenes, top-notch cinematography filmed in a gloomy and fantastical style that captures the mood perfectly, and strong performances from the cast, making it a standout in its genre. As flashbacks in this drama were used, they really added layers to the story and helped show why the characters acted the way they did. It wasn’t just random moments thrown in they tied the past and present together, making the plot flow better and giving more meaning to the characters’ decisions and growth. For me, this worked well in the drama because it made everything feel connected, and the timing of those flashbacks was perfect, revealing just enough to keep me interested while also showing how their histories shaped who they became.
The comedic tones in the drama were also necessary, especially with how gloomy and depressing some of the characters’ situations were. Without those lighter moments, the story would have felt too heavy. The humor balanced it out and showed how the characters coped with everything going on, which made them feel more real to me. And honestly, the shift from comedy to something darker and more emotional hit harder because of that. It started out funny, but once the truths were revealed, the tone became intense and heartbreaking. The shifts felt natural, too, like they were preparing me for the heavy emotional impact later on. By the time things got angsty, it didn’t feel out of place is it felt like the natural progression of everything that had built up.
THE CHARACTERS / ACTING
Neo Hou as Zhu Yan (Full Name: Zhao Yuan Zhou)
Zhu Yan is a 34,000-year-old great demon who carried the weight of his past and was determined to die because of it. His character was deeply depressed and used comedy as a way to cope with his guilt and loneliness. After spending so many years in seclusion, he decided to search for the Bai Ze Token while helping the team uncover not only their pasts but also his own. As the journey progressed, Zhu Yan found peace through his growing bond with the team. The friendship, love, and camaraderie they shared turned into a connection so strong it felt like family to him. Despite being the most powerful character, Zhu Yan wasn’t just defined by his strength but also by the emotional vulnerability he revealed over time. The drama centered heavily around him, and even though some scenes were cut, his presence and impact never dimmed.
Neo Hou’s performance was absolutely brilliant. He brought so much life to Zhu Yan, capturing the comedic, action-packed, and emotional moments perfectly. His portrayal was so convincing that I felt every emotion whether he cried, laughed, or fought. He embodied the character in such a way that my words can’t fully do it justice. Neo Hou as Zhu Yan surprised me in the best way possible, and his performance left me in awe. He made me cry when Zhu Yan broke down and laugh during his lighthearted moments, showcasing incredible range.
Chen Duling as Wen Xiao
Wen Xiao is a mortal chosen as the Bai Ze Goddess to protect the people and wilderness. While she wasn’t written as the strongest physically, her character was far from weak. Wen Xiao had a heartbreaking past, and her dedication to waiting for Zhu Yan after their time together showed her strength and loyalty. She spent years researching demons to better understand them, as seen in the first episode, which set up her role as a key problem-solver in the group.
Wen Xiao was smart, mature, and the glue that held the team together. She felt like a mother figure to the group, offering encouragement and wisdom during tough moments. I did wish to see more of her in the final episodes, but overall, I was satisfied with her character arc. Her chemistry with Zhu Yan was subtle yet incredibly intense, and their interactions were filled with unspoken emotions and tension that left a lasting impression.
Chen Duling portrayed Wen Xiao so naturally that every scene with her felt impactful. She made me cry during her emotional moments and smile in her lighter ones. Her talent really shone through, especially in her portrayal of the demon side disguised by Ao Yin. She played it so convincingly that it felt like an extension of Wen Xiao rather than a separate character. This balance between vulnerability and strength, along with the ability to switch between a heroic and villainous aura, showed how talented she truly is.
Tian Jia Rui as Zhuo Yichen
Zhuo Yichen played an important role in this drama. He started out bound by his goal to kill the great demon Zhu Yan, but as he spent more time with the group and got to know Zhu Yan, his character began to change. ZYC was an upright character who stood firmly for what was right, but when he found himself in the same position as Zhu Yan, he finally understood him.
Tian Jia Rui portrayed his character really well. He showed great versatility, transitioning from a reserved, quiet demeanor to someone who experienced real growth. The way his character’s before-and-after was shown was done very well, and I appreciated his acting in this role.
Cheng Xiao as Pei Sijing
Pei Sijing started as a cold and distant character due to her past experiences with demons and her brother’s situation. However, as the story progressed, she began to open up. Pei Sijing is best described in one sentence: “cold on the outside, but warm at heart.”
Cheng Xiao portrayed her character in a very good way. It’s not easy to convincingly portray a cold character without coming off as flat, but she balanced it well. I loved her action scenes, and her role as an archer fit perfectly with the group dynamic. She handled both the emotional and fighting scenes excellently, and I really liked her performance in Fangs of Fortune.
YaNan as Li Lun
Li Lun was a lonely character who made the wrong choices because of how he viewed humans and his strong desire to protect the wilderness. His actions broke his friendships and turned him into a villain, but as the saying goes, “villains are not born but made.”
I appreciated that his character had development toward the end, even though he caused so much damage to the demon bureau and the people. His final decision helped the group when they needed it the most.
YaNan played this character very well. He wasn’t just a good-looking villain with no substance he showed the contrast between his happy times with friends and his darker side after becoming a villain. His acting was impressive, and I’m proud of his performance.
The Other Characters
I wish I could write longer for each character, but here’s a quick summary of two key members of the group:
Lester Lin as Bai Ju - Lester was phenomenal as Bai Ju. As a young actor, he showed a lot of potential and versatility. He played three parts: the comedic boy, the spy, and even an evil version of Li Lun, all of which were well-directed and well-acted. I truly believe he’s going to become one of the best Chinese actors someday.
Xu Zhen Xuan as Ying Lei - Ying Lei was such a comfort character for me. I loved his portrayal as the mountain god and his overall contribution to the group. He genuinely cared about the team and loved them all.
Xu Zhen Xuan did an amazing job as Ying Lei. His comedic moments brought so much light to the group and made me laugh a lot. He also did well in his fight scenes, and when it came to emotional moments, especially during that heart-wrenching choice he had to make, I cried so much for him.
Guest and Side Characters
All the characters, even the guest ones, played an important part in the story. From Aimi as Qing Geng, Zuo Ye as Fei, Zhang Miao Yi as E Shou the rabbit demon, and Ryan Cheng as Cheng Huang to Riley Wang as Ran Yi and Xiao Ran as Miss Qi, everyone’s performance was excellent. Lai Wei Ming, who played Pei Sijing’s brother, was another standout. I especially loved the sibling dynamic between Pei Sijing and her brother it felt natural and heartfelt.
ROMANCE AND CHARACTER DYNAMICS
The romance between Zhu Yan and Wen Xiao was delicate yet deeply impactful, reminding me of an “old married couple.” Their mutual understanding, words of encouragement, and sacrifices embodied the phrase, “What would you do for love?” Both answered in their unique ways, and their story has earned a place in my heart as a second Romeo and Juliet.
This drama also stood out with its subtle portrayal of relationships. From hints of BL and GL elements to the depiction of a polycule-like bond within the group, it offered layers of complexity. Wen Xiao, despite her physical frailty, wasn’t a weak or unnecessary addition to the plot or added due to censorship. Her character brought depth, warmth, and an essential perspective to the group dynamic.
CINEMATOGRAPHY AND OST
The cinematography in Fangs of Fortune was breathtaking. Every frame held purpose, allowing the emotions and thoughts of the characters to shine without excessive zoom-ins or unnecessary exaggerations. It gave space to interpret the story and characters’ struggles naturally, enhancing the overall experience.
The OST was equally masterful, amplifying the emotional and narrative depth of the series. Neo Hou’s “Yuanzhou’s Boy” (translation) and Liu Yu Ning’s “Unintentional Big Dream” were standout tracks, perfectly aligning with key moments like epic fight scenes or introspective character arcs. These songs added another layer to the storytelling, making each scene resonate deeply.

OVERALL THOUGHTS AND REFLECTION.
While Fangs of Fortune isn’t without its flaws, no drama is truly perfect. Despite minor mistakes, the story’s heart and intent shone through. The inclusion of characters like Lord Ying Long and Lord Bing Yi, portrayed by Neo Hou and Tian Jian Rui, respectively, enriched the narrative with a historical weight that complemented Zhu Yan and Yi Chen’s arcs beautifully.
The drama tackled themes of human nature, moral choices, and the balance between worldly desires and higher ideals. These elements, combined with intricate relationships and seamless directing, created an unforgettable experience. Fangs of Fortune reflected on the ugly realities of the world while marveling at the characters’ resilience and courage. One thing I have to say is the double standards for females, whether they are strong or weak, is so sad to see. No matter how they act, their choices and behaviors are often judged more harshly than those of males. It’s a frustrating pattern that highlights how women are held to different standards, no matter their strength or vulnerability.
The ending of Fangs of Fortune really pierced my heart, leaving me torn with emotions. As each character faced difficult choices, their struggles hit deeply, and I couldn’t help but cry. Even with the special episode that added something new, offering a glimpse of hope, the overall feeling was still bittersweet sad yet uplifting. It captured the weight of their journeys, and while I felt a sense of closure, it didn’t erase the heartache that lingered.
I am proud of all the cast hard work for this drama because it paid off well and it is was successful in it's own way, I do hope that one day we would have a reunion project with this amazing cast again.
For me, this was the most anticipated drama of the year, and it exceeded my expectations in ways I didn’t expect. It’s rare for a series to be both thought-provoking and entertaining, but Fangs of Fortune achieved just that. It is truly a gem that I will remember for a long time. I recommend this drama to anyone who likes fantasy dramas with poetic dialogues and a story that deals with choices and this a drama that requires patience.

FEUD : A BOND THAT TRANSCENDS TIME, KARMA, AND PAIN
" Lament of the River Immortal "It refers to deep regret or longing, often tied to love and sacrifice; the passage of time, boundary between realms, spiritual journey; and beings with the power of eternity but burdened by endless emotion. "Feud"is the second name, this is a Xianxia drama that stands out because of its unique elements, plot twists and a well paced story that blends well with comedy and angst at the right time. This drama is centered on revenge, but it's revenge built on heartbreak, misunderstanding, and years of silence.Feud is also one of the first Xianxia dramas to feel different from the others, it felt like a slice of life xianxia drama, the pacing matched the story, the ost, the dialogues, and the acting was very good.
STORYLINE 𐙚⋆°。⋆♡
In a captivating fairytale, Li Qing Yue, a powerful immortal blessed by the Four Spirits, and Bai Jiu Si, a revered master of Dacheng, are fatefully drawn to one another. But their bond is tested by a cruel twist of fate, a heartbreaking misunderstanding that leads to conflict, and ultimately, their tragic end.
Yet destiny refuses to let their story end there. Given a second chance, they rise from the ashes of their past to mend what was broken. Standing side by side, the immortal and the master become unlikely champions, uniting their strength to protect the innocent from an impending darkness.
The first part of Feud actually starts off pretty comedic The female lead, Li Qing Yue, is introduced living as a mortal in the Jingyun Sect. She's seen as low-ranking and not really taken seriously, to the point where they make her guard the sect gate with the second male lead. It's during this time outside the sect, while she's out looking for herbs to treat herself, that she runs into the Heavenly Lord and honestly, that’s where the long and emotional journey of Feud really begins.
Because of a mistake, she ends up having to marry the Heavenly Lord. The first half of the drama focuses on their marriage, with the male lead being super cold toward her, constantly trying to make her admit that she’s his past lover, Hua Rue Yue. But it’s clear from early on that something deeper is going on like there's more to the story than what we’re being told. What stood out to me right away was the chemistry between the leads from episode one, the ML always stepped in to protect her whenever she was in danger their bond didn’t feel forced at all; it just clicked.
As the story continued, we were introduced to more side characters who all played their own part in building up the world of the drama. I got completely hooked from the first episode. It didn’t feel like your usual xianxia, it had a different vibe, something new, and I instantly liked both leads. The early episodes were also really good at making everyone, including me, curious about what actually happened in their past. Why did they break up? Did the FL reincarnate? We all had our theories flying around, trying to figure it out, but we had no idea how deep things would really go. The mystery, the pacing, the way the story slowly unfolds it will pull you in without you noticing.
As the drama moves into the second half, everything takes a huge emotional turn and we get hit with not just one, but several major plot twists. One of the most surprising things was how well the female lead, Hua Rue Yue (disguised as Ling Qing Yue), was able to fool everyone in the Heavenly Realm into believing she was just a powerless mortal. Even we, the viewers, were convinced for a while. The second half starts digging much deeper into the pasts of both leads It explores their differences as immortal beings who came to the mortal realm to fulfill a love tribulation. But things didn’t go the way the male lead, BJS, had hoped. Before the flashback kicks in, there’s a huge moment where Ling Qing Yue finally reveals her true identity; she's actually Bai Jiu Si’s real wife, Hua Rue Yue, this caught so many of us off guard. And then another twist followed: she had planned everything that happened in episode one, including staying at the Jingyun Sect. She and the ML ended up fighting in an intense and beautifully shot scene, and that fight took them straight back to the mortal realm.
Now, here’s where it gets even crazier: the mortal realm they both found themselves in after falling down during their fight, was actually an illusion created by HRY herself. Using stories and events from other people's lives, she pieced together a world to show Bai Jiu Si a version of her past, what she had gone through and how she had felt. These illusion scenes were some of the most emotional and reflective moments of the drama even though the world she built was fake, it helped change Bai Jiu Si’s entire view. He started seeing mortals not just as lesser beings, but as people who experience real love, pain, friendship, and sacrifice all things he had never fully understood before. When the story enters its final arc, the emotional weight really starts to hit. Bai Jiu Si falls into a coma, and during that time, he meets the Goddess of Time, she shows him the consequences of his karma and reveals Hua Rue Yue’s past in full. These scenes were honestly heart breaking so deep and painful to watch. They highlighted everything HRY went through as a divine god who carried so much compassion, and how BJS, despite his love for her, made a decision he thought was right, only to realize how deeply it hurt them both.
The villain’s true identity is finally revealed, along with the real cause of all the misunderstandings between BJS and HRY. Since they represent Yin and Yang, their connection was always going to be complicated, but the way it was portrayed made it even more intense and raw toward the end. Something that really stood out for me in " Feud"was how layered and complex the characters were there wasn’t a single character that felt one dimensional, HRY and BJS both had their flaws, but they also had depth, growth, and heartbreak. Another thing I appreciated so much was the loyalty of their disciples. In a lot of xianxia dramas, the disciples usually end up betraying their masters or acting out of jealousy or ambition but here, every disciple remained respectful and deeply devoted. They weren’t hypocrites; they each had their own way of understanding and standing by their master, which gave the story more meaning.
Rather than ending on a cliché happy or tragic note, the finale was more symbolic and meaningful . HRY doesn’t just change her own past she rewrites the past of others too. It’s an alternate ending where her actions don’t erase everything, but reduce the amount of suffering and loss for the people involved which was beautifully written.
In the present timeline, HRY returns to the place where she and BJS first met. When she says, “It’s time to accompany him,” it sounds like she’s ready to die with him, since he’s still missing that moment felt so final and devastating. But then there's another twist of fate, the Goddess of Time steps in and changes their ending, HRY and BJS reunite at the exact place where it all began. This final scene is truly unforgettable cinematic, emotional, and full of closure in the most poetic way possible for me.
CHARACTERS/ ACTING ꫂ❁
Bai Lu as Hua Rue Yue / LingQingYue ᰔᩚ
Bai Lu did such an amazing job bringing HRY to life, from her playful and “mortal” side as Ling Qing Yue to the deeply emotional and broken parts of Hua Rue Yue, she captured every layer so well. I loved how powerful HRY was not witty for show, but genuinely smart and dedicated to helping the mortal realm, her choices weren’t always understood by those around her, and that’s what made her character so interesting. As a Heavenly Goddess, she didn’t act self-righteous or look down on mortals. Instead, she chose to understand both realms, which made her stand out.
HRY is one of the most complex and emotionally layered female leads I’ve seen in a xianxia drama. At first, she appears lighthearted and even a little silly, especially while pretending to be a mortal at Jingyun Sect. But underneath that playful surface is someone deeply burdened by love, betrayal, and compassion. What made her stand out was how she never stopped loving BJS, even when she was angry or heartbroken. Bai Lu nailed this role, especially through her subtle expressions and the way she balanced the emotional, serious, and even the lighter, cute moments of the drama.
Joseph Zeng as Bai Jiu Si ♡ˎˊ˗
Joseph Zeng as BJS was honestly the perfect casting choice. At first, BJS comes across like your typical cold male lead, but as the story unfolds, you realize his silence isn’t emptiness; it comes from years of buried emotions, guilt, and love. He followed the Heavenly way, and his beliefs made him view humans differently. In his eyes, he was doing the right thing. But after meeting HRY again and experiencing the mortal illusion she created, he started to understand that living in the mortal realm isn’t about status or wealth; there's still pain, sacrifice, and hardship no matter who you are.
Joseph truly brought BJS to life, showing every emotion with so much restraint and control, his love for HRY never changed across timelines, and that steady love is what eventually softened her heart, even through all her anger and hurt. Their reunion felt real and ended exactly how it was meant to. Also, I have to say Joseph looked genuinely cute in the scenes where BJS lost his memories. That softer version of him was such a nice contrast to the serious and composed version we saw before,he’s probably the first xianxia male lead I’ve seen who pulled off that innocent, clueless look without it being awkward or cringey.
OST/ CINEMATOGRAPHY ˚.🎀༘⋆
I liked most of the OSTs in the drama because they blended so well with the story. Bai Lu and Joseph’s OST especially stood out; it was used in some of the most emotional and touching scenes, and it really added to the impact. The CGI was pretty good overall, It may not have been the absolute best, but it reminded me of older dramas . I actually really liked the monkey animation in the first episode, it was very cute. The cinematography was also nicely done, they did a good job capturing the emotions of the leads and highlighting some of the key locations in the drama.

OVERALL IMPRESSION⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
In Feud, BJS's love for HRY is complex, unwavering, and ultimately tragic. It’s not the kind of love that fades in the face of rejection or resentment; instead, it persists through centuries of trials, misunderstandings, and emotional distance. He doesn’t stop loving her even when she resents him, and that’s the core of his character: his is more patient with her and choose to love her even when they had their differences
The drama does a good job showing that love without communication can become its own kind of cruelty. BJS loved her deeply, but love alone wasn't enough; it needed action, honesty, and mutual growth. HRY’s heartbreak, their years of separation, and the eventual emotional reckoning both of them had to face.
Feud really left an impact on me. It’s not your typical xianxia with a straightforward love story or constant action. The drama takes its time to explore complex characters, emotional depth, and the consequences of past choices. The romance isn’t fluffy or centered on constant sweet moments; it's painful, layered, and tied to something much bigger than just feelings. That might not appeal to everyone, especially if you’re looking for a lighter story, but for those who stick with it, the message behind their love, sacrifice, and growth is powerful. It’s the kind of drama that left me thinking even after it ended .
I explained this drama just like how i interacted with many people.

LOVE WON OVER REVENGE
Revenged Love, also known as Counter Attack (逆袭) and written by Chai Ji Dan (柴鸡蛋), is a Chinese BL drama adapted from a web novel. It starts with a revenge plot that slowly turns into real love, genuine, different, and heart-touching. The story has misunderstandings, happy scenes, sad moments, and funny parts. It’s more than just revenge; it also shows friendships, family issues, personality differences, toxic traits, and how one can influence another person’s life.STORYLINE SUMMARY ⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆
The drama opens with a stylish introduction of its characters. Wu Qi Qiong is a nerdy, financially struggling young man devoted to his girlfriend Yue Yue, but she breaks up with him over his lack of money and looks. At work, his efforts go unrecognized until he finally quits. Soon, we meet Chi Cheng, who passionately cares for snakes, his playful rival and best friend Guo Cheng Yu, and Dr. Jiang, who supports Wu Qi Qiong’s scheme. Yet even after transforming, Yue Yue does not return, leaving him heartbroken. While working multiple jobs, Wu Qi Qiong (later renamed Wu Suo Wei) crosses paths with Chi Cheng. Their early encounters are awkward, and by the third meeting, Wu Suo Wei mistakenly thinks Chi Cheng is Yue Yue’s new boyfriend. Believing Chi Cheng seeks revenge, he plots to make him fall in love, only to dump him. Instead, the plan turns into an unexpected love story. Meanwhile, Guo Cheng Yu becomes interested in Dr. Jiang’s charm and aims to win him over.
The story starts off sweet, funny, and engaging. Watching Wu Suo Wei interact with Chi Cheng, sometimes manipulatively, was entertaining. Though uneasy at first as a straight man, he grows comfortable and develops genuine feelings, always wanting to be near him. Despite their differences, Wu Suo Wei understands Chi Cheng’s directness and acts of service, while Chi Cheng understands Wu Suo Wei’s clever ways. The drama mixes humor with some other stories like the snake story and market scenes, which some might find confusing, but I understood. Before the second half of the story, we see a clear contrast between Wu So Wei’s family and Chi Cheng’s. Wu So Wei was raised by a single mother after his father passed away, while Chi Cheng comes from a wealthy but emotionally cold home. Wu So Wei’s mother is warm and welcoming; she cooks for Chi Cheng, offers him the kind of care he never receives at home, and treats him like family. Chi Cheng finds comfort in her presence, often visiting, bringing her gifts, and happily eating any food she sends his way. This genuine warmth amazes Wu So Wei, he realizes that Chi Cheng values a welcoming home and kind personalities far more than wealth or status.
In the second half, the main leads finally come together with the help of the support characters. Chi Cheng encourages Wu So Wei to open an art installation company, and Wu So Wei proudly shows off their relationship. Guo Chengyu and Dr. Jiang also grow closer through little moments of care.
When Chi Cheng’s ex Wang Shuo shows up, misunderstandings hit hard, made worse by Wu So Wei’s mother being secretly sick. The breakup was heartbreaking, and their distance hurt just as much as their love. When they finally reunite, WsW and chi cheng promised each other not to dwell on the past. The final part mixed comedy, heartache, and devotion with the jail arc, showing Wu Suo Wei’s determination to bring Chi Cheng back home. A deleted scene that was posted added more meaning to the ending. Wu Suo Wei took Chi Cheng to visit his parents’ grave, where they made a final promise about their future. Meanwhile, Guo Cheng Yu committed to always being there for Shuai.
────୨ৎ────CHARACTERS ────୨ৎ────
Tian Xu Ning as Chi Cheng ✩₊˚.⋆☾𓃦☽⋆⁺₊✧ 🚬🍋
Tian Xu Ning brought Chi Cheng to life in such a natural and effortlessly charming way. Chi Cheng is a rich, strikingly handsome man with the charisma of a dark mafia don. A snake lover with his own set of flaws, he comes from a wealthy family that is far from warm or accepting especially regarding his sexuality. Before meeting Wu So Wei, his free time was often spent with his best friend, competing in snake battles. The scene where their snakes fought was especially intense, and Chi Cheng’s confidence in his own snake’s victory came from his sharp observation of the opponent’s attack style.
Chi Cheng is a character often misunderstood not because his intentions are bad, but because the timing of his choices sometimes paints him in the wrong light, he is skilled in other areas too aside from having a snake business and snake pets. Meeting Wu So Wei shifted something in him Though he is always dominant, straightforward, and outgoing, he became genuinely fascinated by Wu So Wei not only for intimacy, but because he had truly fallen in love after years of holding onto thoughts of his ex. Wu So Wei’s mother also melted Chi Cheng’s heart. He showed genuine care for her, especially when she was ill.
Over time, Chi Cheng transformed into someone more caring, food-loving (thanks to Wu So Wei), and a true yearner. I also really liked Chi Cheng’s outfits, it made him appear even more manly and confident, he carried an aura so captivating it could make someone weak in the knees. Tian Xu Ning didn’t just deliver his lines, he was immersed in the role. Whether in subtle moments or intimate scenes, his performance was flawless. When Chi Cheng broke up with Wu So Wei, it hit so hard that the scene trended number one on Weibo because after the breakup Chi Cheng cried so much, shaking, unable to even light his cigarette, and the subtle shift in his eyes told the whole story. That moment shattered me; it felt like a weight had crashed into him.
I didn’t fully talk about some things in my review because I had to cut down my words. But in some parts of Chi Cheng’s character, there were major flaws like the consent issue at first and the gang assault in episode one even though it wasn’t fully shown, it was still the red flag in him . I honestly feel it would have been better if they just exempted that part from the drama, and I also think it’s best not to relate that situation to real life.
Tian Xu Ning is one of the first male leads to make me cry simply because of how beautiful he was, especially when he wore white looking almost angelic. I also admired that chi cheng was unapologetically open about his relationship once he and Wu So Wei were truly together. Tian Xu Ning’s portrayal left a mark on me his aura was captivating, unforgettable, and it changed something in me. Tian shined in every episode of this drama, his spotlight never deemed.
Ziyu As Wu Suo Wei ♡(˃͈ ˂͈ ) 🐟
Ziyu played Wu Suo Wei so naturally, and his character was humorous, bold, and charming. Wu Suo Wei, originally named Wu Qi Qiong, comes from a poor family and was raised by a single mother. Back then, when he was dating his ex-girlfriend, he was nerdy and had what she called a “cheap” mentality. Because of this, she broke up with him, leaving Wu Qi Qiong determined to get back at her. With the help of his friend Dr. Jiang, he crafted a smart revenge plan, relying mostly on his own wit and determination. Wu Suo Wei came across as sassy, outgoing, and fearless; he never backed down from anyone, not even Chi Cheng.
But as he carried out his plan and grew closer to Chi Cheng, things began to shift. Wu Suo Wei slowly started falling in love with him, and though he struggled psychologically with accepting himself as a gay man, his feelings grew undeniable. He also came to realize that his view of Chi Cheng was wrong, that Chi Cheng was not only a good person but a true man who would do anything for him. He also became a true man who would do anything to save Chi cheng.
One of the most moving aspects of Wu Suo Wei’s story is his relationship with his mother Although her was always busy, he tried his best to make time for her, and their bond as mother and son was incredibly special. It was so strong that she even kept her deadly illness from him because she couldn’t bear to let him worry. Beneath Wu Suo Wei’s tough and sassy behavior was a soft side full of compassion not just for Chi Cheng but also for his close friend Dr. Jiang. His intelligence, dedication, and hardworking nature made him admirable.
Ziyu truly shined in portraying Wu Suo Wei. He captured the comedy, romantic, and emotional depth of the character beautifully. His eye acting stood out for me, and he made every funny moment and heartbreaking scene feel real. Ziyu’s performance was phenomenal. I laughed because of him, I cried because of him, and Wu Suo Wei will always stay with me because of how wonderfully Ziyu brought him to life.
Zhan Xuan as Guo Cheng Yu 🧠💚
Zhan Xuan portrayed Guo Cheng Yu with charisma that shone right through the screen. His charm was undeniable, and his acting felt flawless. Guo Cheng Yu owns a snake farm and is always in playful competition with his best friend, though beneath it all, he genuinely cares for him. Raised in a household that wanted daughters but got him instead, he grew up being treated like one something that shaped his unique way of caring for people.
Smart, observant, and dependable, Guo Cheng Yu played an important role in helping Chi Cheng and Wu So Wei come together. He’s also a talented cook and a sharp observer, qualities that stood out especially in the way he cared for Jiang Shuai and gradually showed his interest in him.
Guo Cheng Yu was such a comforting and funny character to watch handsome, caring, and impressively calculative at the same time. Zhan Xuan brought him to life with focus and style, and I admired not only the way he carried himself but also how much warmth came through in his smile and the way he spoke.
Liu Xuan Cheng as Jiang Xiao Shui 🤓⭐
Liu Xuan Cheng portrayed Xiao Shui effortlessly and naturally. Xiao Shui is a doctor who once went through a hard time in the past , struggling with trauma and nearly ending it all yet thanks to one of his patients, he was saved and chose to keep living. After that turning point, he met Wu So Wei and became his teacher in plotting against Chi Cheng, though later he shifted roles, advising and encouraging Wu So Wei to be with Chi Cheng instead.
Xiao Shui is a gentle, kind soul, someone who doesn’t easily place his trust, but whose life slowly began to change after meeting Guo Cheng Yu. As a doctor, he was deeply caring and dedicated, always putting his patients first because their lives mattered most to him. Liu Xuan Cheng portrayed Xiao Shui’s character and emotions in a way that never felt forced. He is one of my fav characters in this drama.
All of the supporting characters performed well, each adding something meaningful to the drama. Their stories weren’t just fillers but played an important role in shaping the main leads’ journey. I enjoyed watching every scene with Gangzi, he was always fun to watch. Yue Yue’s role also worked well for me, and considering this was the actress’s debut drama, she did a good job. Other characters like Wang Shuo and Wang Zhen also delivered decently.
Romance Between the Characters (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)
I was really amazed at how much chemistry both the main leads and second leads had. Chiwei (Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei) were fierce, outgoing, and cared for each other in their own ways. Even with their different personalities, they matched each other’s freaks perfectly. From the very first time Tian and Ziyu met, the chemistry was already there. I could see it off screen, in the script reading videos I watched. On screen, their connection felt so natural and explosive, nothing like a forced performance or actors just reading lines.
Guo Chengyu and Chi Cheng showed love differently, but both loved with such intensity that they would go to any lengths for their partners. The contrast between the main couple and the second couple really added depth to the story’s writing. One thing I noticed is that from the very first day they met their lovers, both Chi Cheng and Guo Chengyu chose to pursue them wholeheartedly. Even when Wu Suo Wei was scheming, Chi Cheng’s interest in him was already strong, just like Guo Chengyu’s determination. The last episode of chi cheng remembering everything about the tree in wu so wei’s house made me feel so emotional.

Revenged Love was an incredible watch for me despite any flaws or cuts in the drama. It’s my first BL/CBL drama that truly got me hooked and left a deep impact not because of the actor’s looks, but because I was emotionally invested. The directing and natural acting were so well done that I felt I really understood the characters. This drama is more than just romantic scenes; it’s about how the characters care for each other, their friendships, family struggles, and personal challenges in relationships. I loved the dynamics between all the characters, they all matched together perfectly.
This drama might be a hit or miss for some, because no drama can satisfy everyone, but it definitely raised my expectations for BL shows. I loved how the actors were calm and friendly with each other behind the scenes their great chemistry and positive relationship with the director really made the drama shine even more.
Revenged Love made me excited to watch every episode, including the BTS. It taught me to respect others’ sexuality, make time for my loved ones, practice forgiveness, and communicate better. The journey of watching Revenged Love is unforgettable, I never planned to watch this drama yet it touched my heart in unexpected ways. It left a mark on my summer, and I will always remember the summer of 2025 because of it. They turned my ordinary nights into beautiful memories and i always think about them, Tianziyu and Xuanxuan .I would say give this drama a try after the first few episodes it keeps getting better till the end.

Frost Descent: Love That Withstood the Storm
The First Frost is an adaptation of the novel Hard to Coax (Chinese title: Nan Hong) by author Zhu Yi. While it is a romance drama at its core, it goes beyond just love. The First Frost paints a deeply emotional journey where love is not just about passion but also about finding warmth and solace in another person.SUMMARY ⋆˚✿˖°
The First Frost isn’t just a love story, it's about healing, resilience, and the bonds that shape us. Sang Yan and Wei Yifan met in high school, their friendship quietly deepening into love, though neither of them ever said it out loud. They had dreams of a future together, but when Yifan broke their promise to attend Nanwu University, it left Sang Yan devastated. On the surface, it seemed like she abandoned him, but deep down, he never fully believed it. A part of him always questioned why, and even after their separation, he could never truly erase her from his thoughts, memories of her lingered, and sometimes, without meaning to, he found himself in places that reminded him of her.
Six years later, fate brings them together again, forcing them to confront everything left unsaid. But The First Frost isn’t just about their love, it's about survival, overcoming trauma, and reclaiming one’s voice. The drama delves into PTSD, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and the lasting wounds of sexual violence. It highlights the devastating effects of predators, the struggle victims face in their aftermath, and the importance of standing up for women as a society. Alongside this, it explores the power of friendship, the weight of family expectations, and the quiet fight to heal.
Each episode moves between past and present, with moments that seem small at first but later fit together like pieces of a puzzle. And at the heart of it all is Sang Yan holding onto the feeling that their story was never truly over.
CHARACTERS⋆˚✿˖°
Bai Jing Ting As Sang Yan🍀☼
Sang Yan grew up in a loving home and comes from a wealthy family. His brother’s arc has already been portrayed in Hidden Love, so The First Frost focuses on his relationship with Wei Yifan. Some have criticized his character for lacking a well-developed arc since his story revolves around Yifan, but that’s exactly why his role is significant. Sang Yan already has everything: stability, love, and success yet he chooses to be with Yifan not because he needs her, but because he truly loves and understands her. His character embodies unconditional love, patience, and kindness. He has a high emotional intelligence, which is necessary for their love story to work. If he didn’t, their relationship wouldn’t have been possible. The way Sang Yan and Yifan match as characters highlights their relationship dynamics. He never pressured her to accept his feelings. As a friend, he was always there during her darkest moments, but he wasn’t just a friend he became her family, her backbone. Instead of hurting her further, he chose to protect her. He understood her when others didn’t, and, as he admitted, he set aside his pride to understand her more. That shows true emotional strength. Unlike some characters who make everything about themselves, Sang Yan never did, and that doesn’t make him weak or useless, it makes him the kind of person who truly values and respects the woman he loves. Understanding a woman doesn’t make a man lesser; it makes him someone who genuinely cares instead of forcing his own expectations onto her.
Sang Yan is not a stalker. He visited Yifan’s school more than once three times, to be exact. He never made his presence known, never disturbed her life, and never forced a confrontation. He also appeared on her graduation day, but rather than approaching her, he simply watched from a distance. Yifan even saw him that day and ran after him, but he was already gone. His actions weren’t about obsession or control; they were moments of longing. He wanted to talk to her but couldn’t bring himself to do it. Even after they separated, he quietly kept memories of her achievements, like the first article she published in Yihe. He cherished these moments, but he never crossed a line or did anything to harm her. This isn’t the kind of behavior that can be classified as good or bad stalking, it was simply his way of holding onto the past without forcing himself back into her life.
Bai Jing Ting’s portrayal of Sang Yan was spectacular. His micro-expressions added depth to the character, making every moment feel natural and real. His acting was effortless, capturing Sang Yan’s flirty, caring, teasing, kind, funny, supportive, and understanding nature. I can’t imagine anyone else playing this role. Sang Yan was made for Bai Jing Ting alone, and I absolutely loved his performance.
Zhang RuoNan As Wei Yifan/ Wen Shuangjiang ₊°。❆
From the start, Wei Yifan is a character trapped in a cycle of expectations whether it’s from the people around her or from the audience watching her story unfold. But what makes her so compelling isn’t just her actions; it’s how people perceive her. She’s constantly under scrutiny, often judged more harshly than how male leads are judged for making decisions that, while flawed, are incredibly real.
There’s this idea that a female lead has to be a certain way strong, decisive, never uncertain. And that’s where the criticism of Yifan gets frustrating because she isn’t written to fit that mold. Her story isn’t about being a perfect heroine; it’s about surviving. She went through so much she’s a sexual assault survivor, she grew up without love from her mother, and she lost her father young. The trauma she carries isn’t something you just “get over.” And yet, people act like she’s weak for not handling everything in a way that’s "ideal." But the truth is, Wei Yifan is incredibly courageous. It takes real strength to keep going after everything she’s been through.
That’s why the Hong Kong arc mattered so much. It wasn’t pointless at all, it was a turning point for her. It gave her the space to realize who her real family was, to finally start letting go of the fear that’s been holding her back for years. That fear of being abandoned, of not being enough, of never really belonging she started to outgrow it, and that shaped her into a better version of herself.
Her love for Sang Yan was also beautifully explored. She wasn’t just some passive love interest; she actively cared for him, took care of him, and when she finally opened up about the things she’s been carrying for so long, it was because she found warmth in him. He was someone who made her feel safe enough to share her pain, and that’s not something she ever had before. Yifan isn’t weak, she's just someone who has spent years protecting herself because the world hasn’t been kind to her. But when she finally found someone who wouldn’t leave, she allowed herself to be vulnerable, and that’s such an important part of her growth.
Even outside of romance, she’s a strong character. As a journalist, she faced mistreatment in her workplace but still kept pushing forward. And even though there were bad experiences, she also met good people along the way, co-workers who respected her, moments that reminded her why she pursued this career in the first place. That balance was so well done because it showed that she wasn’t just defined by her struggles; she also had moments of hope and support.
Wei Yifan is shy and quiet, but not weak. That’s just how she grew up after losing her dad, but it never stopped her from voicing her opinions when it truly mattered. She’s not someone who demands attention, but when she speaks, it counts. She really suffered so much, and if there’s anyone who deserves happiness and sunshine, it’s her.
Zhang Ruonan portrayed Wei Yifan effortlessly. Everything about her acting was real and authentic, whether it was her emotional moments or the softer, cuter sides of her personality. And it never felt forced or cringy; it was natural. She fully embodied Yifan’s workaholic side, her reserved but loving nature, and even those little mini housewife moments that made her character feel so lived-in. She brought Yifan to life in a way that made every moment, whether heartbreaking or heartwarming, feel genuine.
Wei Yifan is a character that deserved better not just in her story, but in how people talk about her. She wasn’t weak, she wasn’t useless, and she wasn’t a “bad” female lead. She was just real, and that’s what made her one of the best-written characters in the drama.
EXPLAINING HK ARC ⋆˚✿˖°
I want to explain the Hong Kong arc that so many people criticized Yi Fan for because I keep seeing people say it was unnecessary or had no impact on the story, when it actually did. I’ll add some lines from the drama later to back up what I’m saying, but first, let’s break this down.
People keep saying, “She’s terrified to lose him, but she left him.” That’s exactly the point. Fear doesn’t always make people hold on tighter, it can make them push others away. And this wasn’t about her not valuing Sang Yan. It was about her believing that being with him was selfish, that she was ultimately going to hurt him, and that leaving was the better option. That’s not the same as taking him for granted.
And about the whole “She left him holding the bag with their apartment and her cat” thing let’s talk about the cat. People act like she dumped the cat on him without care, but she already left the cat with him multiple times before. This wasn’t new. She left the cat to keep him company, even when she was trying to leave. That wasn’t abandonment. That was Yi Fan, in her own way, still wanting to stay connected to him even as she tried to walk away.
The argument that she would’ve never come back if Si Qiaoand Su Huoan hadn’t tracked her down doesn’t hold up either. Because the drama makes it clear that she wasn’t happy in HK. She wasn’t thriving. She was stuck. Even if no one had come to find her, she would have eventually realized that running away didn’t fix anything. The thing about trauma is that it doesn’t follow a logical timeline. Just because she’s been independent for years doesn’t mean she suddenly knows how to navigate love without fear. And the thing is, she did realize running wasn’t the answer. In one line, she even admitted that at the end of the day, running away doesn’t solve anything, it only hurts others more.
Before her friends even showed up, the ballet teacher’s story had already touched her, making her reflect on her own choices. Yi Fan had always been attached to the idea of escaping when things got overwhelming, but this time, her friends and Sang Yan people who already saw her as family chose to look for her because they didn’t want her to be gone for too long. And the most important part? They didn’t meet her with anger, they didn’t punish her for running. They simply reminded her that she didn’t have to run anymore.
As for Sang Yan, people say the Hong Kong arc made him unrecognizable, but it didn’t. He wasn’t suddenly a “neurotically desperate” person; he was someone who knew Yi Fan better than anyone else. That’s why he didn’t move on. Because he understood her fear, even when he was hurt by it. If he had truly believed she didn’t love him, that’s when he would have given up. But he knew the way she left wasn’t because she didn’t care, it was because she cared too much and didn’t know how to handle it.
And finally, the idea that “if she really valued him, she would have quickly realized she screwed up” ignores how deep her fears ran. She was healing in her relationship with Sang Yan, but healing isn’t a straight line. She had already come so far, but this was the last hurdle learning that she could trust herself in a relationship, that she could stay instead of running. The Hong Kong arc mattered because it forced her to finally face that.
OST/ CINEMATOGRAPHY ⋆˚𝜗𝜚˚⋆
The OST was really good, and it matched the tone of the drama perfectly. It was used thoughtfully in certain scenes, enhancing the emotional impact and making the beautiful moments even more memorable. The cinematography was stunning, with shots that captured the leads perfectly. The dreamy, ethereal vibes it gave off fit the drama so well, and I really liked how it all came together.

The First Frost is a well-written drama and a masterpiece for me because it doesn’t just talk about love, it deeply explores trauma, SA survivors, and friendship. Sang Yi Fan’s love story beautifully portrays the unconditional feelings of first love and how they aren’t easily forgotten, depending on how strong that love is. I love how yearning is depicted in this drama, and Yi Fan’s journey felt incredibly realistic. I’m happy she fought her great battle alongside Sang Yan and found a new home filled with happiness and warmth to shield her from the cold,I never felt bored or skipped any scenes.
One of the things I really appreciated about this drama is how the dialogue is just as important as the actions. We often talk about how what characters do shapes the story, but the way they communicate, the things they say, and how they say them, can carry just as much weight. It’s through dialogue that we really get to see their personalities, vulnerabilities, and intentions. What stood out to me is how every line feels purposeful whether it’s a small quip or a heartfelt confession. It adds layers to the characters and deepens the relationships, making everything feel more genuine. It’s a reminder that words can move the plot just as much as actions can.
Bai Jing Ting and Zhang Ruo Nan had such natural chemistry that never felt forced, and their characters’ love story never came across as one sided. Every member of the cast played their roles well, and I’m grateful to the director for guiding them so effectively the hard work truly paid off. The First Frost became one of 2025’s best dramas and a certified hit.

OUR GENERATION: A JOURNEY OF FRIENDSHIP, LOVE, GROWTH, AND RESILIENCE
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ Our Generation, also known as Cherry Amber (樱桃琥珀), is a youth slice-of-life drama that explores themes of friendship, family conflict, romance, and enduring love. While it features familiar tropes seen in other youth dramas, Our Generation stands out by taking a different path set in the 90s, it highlights the influence of the Qunshan community on six childhood friends. Each of them grew up with different personalities that initially remained the same, forming the foundation of their strong bond. But as they matured and entered adulthood, their experiences began to shape them in new ways, showing how growth and change can influence their lives °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・STORYLINE 𖡼.𖤣𖥧𖡼.𖤣𖥧
The story begins with Yingtao’s childhood as leader of the “Qunshan Squad,” introducing the close-knit group and their personalities. Qunshan is a small community where neighbors care for each other. Yingtao’s life changes when Jiang Qiaoxi joins the group after warming up to her. Despite their different personalities, they bond over shared interests like Yingtao’s special rabbit, Chunlu. Our Generation has well-written characters: Yingtao is kind and lively, supported by loving parents; Jiang Qiaoxi is quiet, smart, and gifted but controlled in childhood; Qin Yeyun is hardworking, caring for her injured father; Yu Qiao is athletic and protective; Cai Fangyuan is the funny helper, like Du Shang. Though different, they all get along well.
The first half follows them growing into high school seniors. After Jiang Qiaoxi moves to the city, he cuts contact with Yingtao, who misses him and her friends deeply. Learning something is wrong with her letters, Yingtao visits the city and finds him, but their reunion ends with misunderstanding. Her parents then decide to move to the city, marking a new chapter for Yingtao, Jiang Qiaoxi, and the squad.
Before the second half, Yingtao reunites warmly with her friends and clears the misunderstanding with Jiang Qiaoxi. She faces struggles keeping up with expectations, while Jiang Qiaoxi competes and balances school absences but still meets his friends. Yeyun cares for her sick father, highlighting the drama’s theme of friendship and support. Jiang Qiaoxi works hard but faces pressure from his demanding mother, which deeply saddens the group. Though misunderstood at times, his friends begin to truly understand his struggles. Before the second half of the story, Yingtao reunited warmly with her friends. Jiang Qiaoxi explained the misunderstandings between them, allowing their friendships to restart. Yingtao struggled to keep up with high school and expectations from friends and teachers. Jiang Qiaoxi was often absent due to competitions but always found time for Yingtao and their friends. Yeyun cared for her seriously ill father, showing how much Our Generation talks about good friends and supportive family. Jiang Qiaoxi worked hard, smart, quiet, and humble but his mother’s constant demands made him feel like he wasn’t enough. Though the Qunshan group sometimes misunderstood him, they grew to truly understand his struggles.
Yu Qiao focused on sports but always made time for friends, while Du Shang and Cai Fangyuan built a website and helped out. High school was full of adventures and heartbreaks, especially for Jiang Qiaoxi. After winning an Olympiad, he decided to stop living in his family’s shadow and to be seen as his true self. The second half starts after Jiang Qiaoxi and Yingtao share their first kiss and confession, right after her exams as she prepares for university. It was emotional because Yingtao believed they’d attend the same university. This marked their last meeting, with many blaming Jiang Qiaoxi for leaving, but this time his decision came from deep depression Yingtao didn’t know about.
When Jiang Qiaoxi left without saying goodbye, Yingtao was heartbroken, and the whole Qunshan Squad felt it too. They focused on school, hoping he’d come back. The story then shifts to Yingtao’s university life, where she meets new friends and seniors who support her through tough times. She sees one senior’s painful breakup, making her think about Jiang Qiaoxi and relationships. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad follow their paths: Yu Qiao trains to be a pilot, Du Shang becomes a doctor, Cai Fangyuan studies literature, and Yeyun cares for her dad. They eventually find out where Jiang Qiaoxi is but keep it from Yingtao until Yu Qiao visits him and decides it’s time to tell her.
The final arc is emotional Jiang Qiaoxi’s flawed choice and Yingtao’s brave decision to find him and reunite. Before officially dating and focusing on their future, everyone found success: Yu Qiao became a pilot, Yeyun got a car and grew happier, Du Shang became a doctor, and Cai Fangyuan pursued writing. Yingtao also learns the full story about Jiang Qiaoxi and his cousin and encourages everyone to stay strong.
When they all reunite, they reflect on how fast time passed and how much has changed. They finally set off fireworks they missed in high school. Though their paths changed, life brought them back together. Despite fights and disagreements, Yingtao married Jiang Qiaoxi. They knew the future would have challenges, but as long as they were together, they were ready to face it and stay side by side.
────୨ৎ────CHARACTERS ────୨ৎ────
Zhao Jinmai as Lin Yingtao / Lin Qile ִֶָ𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶָ🐇་༘࿐
Zhao Jinmai portrayed Lin Yingtao in a very natural and convincing way. Yingtao’s life was lively and full of joy because of her upbringing. She had loving parents who cared deeply for her and valued her happiness above all else. They never pressured her with unrealistic expectations whether it was for herself or for her relationship with Jiang Qiaoxi. Instead, they encouraged her to follow her own path. As the leader of the Qunshan group, Yingtao always cared for everyone around her. Even though she loved Jiang Qiaoxi, she still made time for her friends and her pets, something that also brought her closer to him. Yingtao is a well-written character who grew into a courageous, outgoing, and friendly young woman. She is the kind of friend who knows how to calm the storm. While she wasn’t the smartest student at first, her determination to stay alongside her friends pushed her to prove her teachers wrong, studying hard to achieve good grades.
Her character reminded me of Sang Yan from First Frost, but with the roles reversed both characters showed dedication to their partners long before officially dating, often through acts of service. Unfortunately, Yingtao was sometimes misinterpreted simply because she is female, and societal perceptions tend to judge women more harshly. However, if a partner understands the other person’s situation, it’s possible to work things out unless there’s no love in return. In Yingtao’s case, Jiang Qiaoxi did love her, but his circumstances and introverted personality made it harder for him to express himself, especially next to Yingtao’s more extroverted nature.
Zhao Jinmai captured every side of Yingtao perfectly from her happiness, to her sadness, to moments of joyful tears. She brought Yingtao to life, making her dedication to friendship resonate deeply. Her portrayal of Yingtao’s clumsiness and funny moments made it easy to see why the Qunshan Squad loved her so much. Yingtao has officially become one of my favourite modern female characters, because she made me cry and smile while showing how much she cared for and cherished her friends. She never stopped them from doing what they loved, even when it made her feel sad.
Zhang Linghe as Jiang Qiaoxi ⋆⭒˚.⋆🪐 ⋆⭒˚.⋆
Zhang Linghe portrayed Jiang Qiaoxi in a perfect and well-directed way. Jiang Qiaoxi is a quiet, smart, and deeply introverted character, someone I truly understood and felt pity for because of everything he went through. His childhood was shaped by a controlling mother who dictated what he liked, from his favourite food to his preferred colours. Because of this treatment, he became reserved and struggled to express himself. But meeting Yingtao and the rest of the Qunshan Squad changed him. For the first time, he began to hope to be seen, loved, and heard. Jiang Qiaoxi is often misunderstood because of his choices, but I found him realistic. His personality and upbringing made his struggles believable, and he needed a source of strength, a motivator which he found in Yingtao. Through her support, he learned to face life’s hardships and keep moving forward.
Jiang Qiaoxi reminded me of Wei Yifan, as both are flawed characters shaped by different traumas and imperfect decisions. Those experiences ultimately helped them grow into stronger people who learned to fight for themselves. One of my favourite things about Jiang Qiaoxi was how he remembered the little details about each member of the Qunshan group, never forgetting them. He would give them special gifts as a way of showing how much he valued their friendship.
Zhang Linghe’s performance was exceptional and flawless. I cried with his character, especially during his time in Hong Kong. He portrayed the shy yet mature high school student so well the intelligent one always willing to help. His emotional and happy scenes felt so natural, and there were so many moments where I just wanted to hug his character. Jiang Qiaoxi has become one of my favourite youth male characters to watch grow from high school to adulthood. He overcame his past traumas, worked hard, cherished his friendships, and remained determined. And through it all, he never forgot Yingtao, loving her until the day they reunited. In summary the other qunshan squad also had their very good characteristics I resonated with, all the supporting characters acting were good and not forced. I loved Yingtao's family and how they took care of Jiang qiaoxi.
Explaining the Hong Kong Arc and the Romance Story 🍒💌🤍
The Hong Kong arc in Our Generation reminds me of The First Frost. Both stories have flawed characters who distance themselves from the people they love. Jiang Qiaoxi suffered a lot during their two years apart he dropped out of school after his cousin’s injury, worked multiple jobs, and cared for his uncle. The writer made sure Yingtao’s words weren’t just about her but were meant to help Jiang see the bright side and hold on to those who cared, especially the Qunshan Squad. When she tried to leave Hong Kong, he realized he couldn’t lose her and ran after her taxi. By the end, they became a couple.
The romance arc for the main leads was written in a way that made sense to me, even though the script had flaws. We didn’t get to see many scenes of Jiang Qiaoxi thinking about Yingtao, but I still understood their relationship. It began when they met as children and never forgot each other despite years apart. When they reunited, their love story naturally continued in high school because they already knew each other well, and their personalities hadn’t changed. Yingtao never forced her feelings on Jiang Qiaox, she simply included him in the Qunshan Squad and cheered for him because of how smart and capable he was.
During their high school years, their crush grew as they cared deeply for each other, often sharing quiet, intense glances. Yet, they prioritized their studies and futures before anything else. If the drama had more episodes, it could have shown more of their adulthood era, since Our Generation is about much more than romance.
The Hong Kong arc itself had flaws, as some scenes weren’t shown in full at first. But I later understood the purpose it was meant to show Jiang Qiaoxi learning that life has ups and downs, no matter whether you’re successful or poor. You can lose anything, money, family, friends without warning. Yet, even with these challenges, there are better days ahead, and the sun will rise again. Yingtao wanted him to remember that, and to never forget that his name carries a good and hopeful meaning, not something bad.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS ⋆ ˚。⋆୨🍓୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Our Generation was a good watch for me despite its writing flaws and short episodes, mainly because I wanted more for all the characters. It reminded me of my own childhood and friend groups. The drama was more than just a romance, it highlighted the growth from childhood through teenage years and into adulthood. It focused on the importance of friendship and trying to resolve issues with good closure rather than leaving things hanging. This drama made me cry many times with its inspiring and sad quotes. It really made me reflect on my friendships, both in real life and online. Our Generation reminded me that being an adult doesn’t mean we have everything figured out. There are times when we make mistakes, get misunderstood, or even get wrongly accused. I have made mistakes and been wrongly accused myself, but I always try to be forgiving and grow into a better person.
One thing I truly appreciated about Our Generation was its emphasis on studying. It shows how we can be smart but still lose everything due to life’s hardships. But when we hit rock bottom, we have to stay strong and hold onto hope for better days ahead because bad times can always turn into good. The drama’s ratings don’t do it justice, but it’s definitely one everyone should watch and judge for themselves. It’s not a show for everyone, but it deserves a chance. It feels like a slice of life with heartwarming characters. The family dynamics were another highlight for me. The drama shows how bad parenting can damage someone, but if we stand up for ourselves, life will improve. Maybe it takes years, but the light at the end of the tunnel is always better than the darkness in our hearts. Jiang Qiaoxi never fully reunited with his family, but he learned to let go of anger and focus on his present and future. The Qunshan Squad will always be dear to me. They made my summer youth drama worth the wait.
