Yes I did not undestood the fake ending too... I think it would have been more meaningful if Shima actually protected…
Hi) i'll answer some of your questions if you don't mind)
The trigger that saved Ibuki and Shima was in many detailes: people brought Jimba lots of udon. Ibuki visited Jimba, played with udon so udon fell to the floor later. The sound of falling udon woke up Jimba, and Kokonoe ( thanks to his character growth) was there. And he was so happy he sent tons of texts to Ibuki. That's why Ibuki woke up and they didn't die. That was the chain of triggers - the bonds between people.
Ibuki and Shima didn't attack Kusumi and his minion because their guns were probably taken away. One can't defeat two armed people while weaponless.
Shima and Ibuki shared a dream cause their worst fear was the same. Shima gave up his duty as Police officer - he was ready to kill - and he gave up his life - all in a hope that he'll save Ibuki, a true 'clean' officer (and so that Shima wouldn't have to deal with the loss of another partner). Moreover, when Shima said that Ibuki will wake up and won't forgive Kusumi, he was bluffing. He meant that Ibuki will arrest Kusumi. Thus, he showed that he utterly trusts Ibuki to do the right thing.
However, it was all in vain, cause Ibuki couldn't forgive Shima's death. So Ibuki killed someone, and likely was killed as well later by Kusumi's minion (in director's cut version it is said that 404 were never seen again in that reality).
The drama was cut from 14 to 11 episodes but it didn't affect the story overall - just few cases were omitted.
The director's cut of MIU features lots of new material - roughly 18 minutes of new scenes and a new arrangement of ep 6. The final episode has an extended climax scene (with Shima) - the scene reads a lot better in those version!
I'm not sure but it seems that official dvd and blu-ray will have the director's cut.
Fans are praying, today a director cut version was released but who knows? The story is completed.
Yes, he was left a mystery. But it's not clear whether it's a mystery to solve or more of a creative solution (that leaves the villain unsympsthetic). The content of director cut is still largely unknown as people still watch it.
I am wondering about it too! I've already finished the drama and I'd award it the title of the best if it was…
Yes, totally! And then there is Netflix produced dramas which are a lot more high-budget and controversial than wowow (naked director, hibana spark etc)
this drama has 11 episodes, but last week #MIU40412話 was trending, and today #MIU40413話 is trending! does…
It's because originally there was supposed to be 14 episodes. Three of them were cut (one of them would feature a weekend and we would probably see Shima's super fashionable apartment). If Miu were 14 episodes long, the 13th episode would have aired today that's why people trend the hashtag.
BTW the fanart tag keeps being updated! And the director's cut will air on paravi in two hours so I expect the twitter to blow up soon)))
I wouldn't recognise Ayano Go without reading his name!He has really aged (not saying in in a negative way, but…
I totally agree - they could have given Ibuki slick haircut and tight skimpy clothes but instead Ayano Go was sporting very realistic 'unkept hair' and baggy sweatshirts. They completely refused to 'pimp' him out.
And then he was told to play 'excited puppy' character, thus, letting go of any 'I'm too cool for you' vvibes he sometimes have.
It's a total transformation.
(And then Hoshino Gen, on the contrary, was pimped out to the max with the director admitting she specifically shot him only from his best angles. Go said 'Gen-chan has never before had so many buttons unbuttoned')
Anyway, some people likened Ibuki in the first few episodes to male version of manic pixie dream girl xD. I really love how we are shown that it's not Ibuki who would get 'the most likely to murder someoone' award.
I waited for this to air and couldn't find it anywhere. I think I took it off my watch list last week.
If you are interested, there is info about subtitles on MIU404's MDL Page in the comments - the translator is going to release subs for the last episode soon.
I think, in a month or two the drama will be available at the usual places. I guess, the pirates didn't get hold of it cause the translation is done by someone New who doesn't post their subs on d-addicts.

The ending stayed the same. The biggest difference was in the climax. I'll add comment below with the spoiler tag.

Though, I think sakuratree7772 Twitter translated it (but no subs)

Please, write what you think about Suda after you finish the drama, I'm curious))
