One thing this drama really fumbled is the sister's character, there was so much potential with her but it was all wasted to make her this one dimentional petty villain that only cares about sabotaging her brother and preventing him from rising to a position higher than hers. And they didn't even commit to making her fully evil like they had to indroduce a completely useless new character because she couldn't even be fully evil on her own lmao It's super weird because when you think about it her childhood was as difficult as Juhyeok's or even worse, like she suddenly discovered her mom was her father's mistress, then her mom died, her dad took her to his first wife's house who tried taking her own life as soon as she moved in and her brother never showed her any sign of affection as far as we know...it's so weird that they only showed Juhyeok's and the mom's povs but completely glossed over her struggles when she's probably had it worse than them (sorry for the essay lmao it's just really frustrating to me)
Also can’t believe the author gave up on writing the rest of the script and just made the mc go “oh you want…
Nah that’s not why I’m not completely oblivious to context clues, like sure he got to the present because of the torn page from the book but how did he show up to her workplace wearing an impeccable suit and a new haircut like he was perfectly acclimated to present life? How did the whole kitchen staff conveniently show up in the present and end up taking up the same roles they had in joseon? It’s pure fan service which would be fine if the show hadn’t tried to take itself too seriously at the end but it kept trying to juggle between a serious and dramatic tone and a campy ridiculous one which wasn’t working imo
Also can’t believe the author gave up on writing the rest of the script and just made the mc go “oh you want…
How does that explain anything lmao? Idk if the ending was adapted as is or if it was changed for the drama but it’s still lazy writing regardless of whether the writer of the show or the artist who made the webtoon is the one who wrote it
Atp I lost hope in finding a historical time travel kdrama where the final episode doesn’t make me hate the…

definitely agree. Most kdramas have these side plots that have no place in the story. But this aside, loving this…
the thing is we already have many issues that give the story a more serious and mature tone when needed, like chiyeol's anxiety and how he's struggling to grapple with what happened in his past, the horrible moms, the obsessive classmate, the korean education system etc. but all these problems still feel so real and believable which does not apply to this random murder it feels like I'm watching another drama
I'm really enojoying this so far but am I the only one who feels like it didn't need that person being murdered side plot at all? It just feels out of place to me like it doesn't fit in with the general atmosphere of the drama
*episode 7* ...did they really kill off the most interesting character in the most anticlimatic way possible? he better get a miraculous revival like niragi and aguni idc edit: he's still alive that's so embarassing for me lmao
Well its a taxi driver, a priest and a police officer combinationWhat can we expect?🤣
Aren't they? one of them is a police officer and a good one at that the other two are very smart too but they just do dumb and impulsive things when it's convenient for the plot (I just saw your replies cause I was trying to figure out when I watched this drama sry lol)
I was sure I would dislike this drama because of how widely hated and critiqued it is so I watched it with korean subs (I'm learning korean and I do that occasionally with dramas I don't anticipate to like so that it wouldn't matter if I miss some things) and I was very pleasantly surprised like I was plastered to my screen for all six episodes and couldn't stop watching I genuinely don't understand the hate it got? yes the monsters look goofy and cartoonish which takes away from the horror but in the end it's a character and plot focused story which was very creative, well-crafted and unpredictable. I see a lot of people saying it was not well-executed but imo it was better executed than other highly appraised mystery/horror/supernatural dramas we've gotten recently (eg aouad, happiness) I also cared about the characters even ones we've seen very little of (the mom in the last 3 eps) way more than all the characters in said dramas. Anyway I will be seated for Hellbound vol.2 the boy who lived
This was the perfect gateway chinese drama for me!! It has it all; a really gripping and unique plot with amazing execution, top-notch acting, great characters. I love that though it was very tense and sad there were a lot of moments that added levity and humor when they were needed so it was not just super stressful to watch all the way through
