Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Yeah I laughed in a an uncomfrotable way. They may have pushed it a bit too far.
This is what I'm having a hard time with. I also laughed but a bit hysterically lol.

Which is why I'm hoping the female lead has ulterior motives when it comes to pursuing him so, well, aggressively. Go after what you want, but maybe don't try to mind control a man lol. That's just wild as hell 🤣👀

I may be making too much of the female lead's "experience". But shouldn't a woman who knows men as well as she claims, know that he was already a bit into her? Her actions have only seemed to push him further and further away, so what logic is there for her in continuing to push him away if she wants a baby? I feel like she's distracting him so he doesn't spend time suspecting her. Because our female lead definitely has many more secrets.

Yeah it was a sore point with me how even in death Fang Yin paid more attention to her benefactor than her husband.
This part was so ridiculous to me. And honestly, I loved the show. It did so much right. But this part was just painful because it felt so unnecessary and overkill. It definitely felt like a scene written by a man as opposed to a woman. If you know what I mean.

If she had paid attention to her husband then atleast it would've confirmed there was some romantic development off screen, but they didn't even give the couple that. It was heartbreaking. I felt so bad for him. Everyone was off celebrating married life, and he was honouring/mourning her. It feels unfinished. I wish we had had more time to explore these two.

The writer joked that XW is too smart already to have the extra benefit of past memories. He'd probably claim…
The director's joke is hilarious. I agree, on second thought. It would've have been beautiful, but with how Xie Wei's character panned out it might not have been as much of slow burn😂.

I do like that one family scene. But a few scenes leading to that moment with her mother and ofcourse her father's reaction to Xie Wei doing the deed with this daughter would have been a nice cherry on top.

And yeah, I kind of got that YFY was talking about her "other" self. Her death was the hardest for me because I don't see why it had to happen at all.

From what I've heard of the novel, they really toned down Xie Wei and made some other changes too. Whoever adapted it did a fantastic job. There are some things that don't work as well in live-action as they do in some type of fantastical romance.

All in all its a fantastic romance and I love the show. And because they did everything else so well, it was these smaller arcs and side stories that are the only things I think fell through. Still a solid 9/10 in my books.

He looks alot better here. There were some dramas where I didn't think his looks stood out much. He's definitely…
The looks here definitely suit him. I think I enjoy the casting more than anything else. it's so well done. Everyone.

Time for a post-mortem:

I loved it! It's on my rewatch list. This love story feels new and somehow more grown up. I loved that Ning knew her way around men and love. I loved that Xie Wei fell for her hard and fast and that she took her time for obvious reasons. I loved that they both stayed true to themselves.

My only "what ifs" are these:
1. I wish Xie Wei had remembered too. Up until Xie Wei started relying heavily on the pills I was convinced he did remember. I think it would have made for a great love story. It would explain why this time around he tried a bit more to understand her. And his insistence that there's no way she could really love Yang Lin, despite Zhang Zhe not being in the picture yet.

2. I felt the loss of the extra episodes. I would have loved for some more closure between Ning and her family. We never saw her father's reason to having Xie Wei has his son in law lol.

3. Although there was tons of skinship, there were only two kisses which were intense for sure, but I would have appreciated some gentleness from Xie Wei. Or more acceptance of intimacy from Ning. I feel she did. But they never rested in that place long enough for her to show it outright. Just her giving in. And that was it. During that time we could've also seem them overcoming struggles (like gaining her parents' approval perhaps) united rather than squabbling for no reason.

4. I want to know who the Princess wanted to forget. I would love for her to have a season. She was absolute perfection. I bet its Yang Lin though - the guy she loved.

5. My heart goes out to You Fang Yin and her underdeveloped love story that was then cut short because, who knows why. Only to have her die in the arms of the female lead because even all the women have to be obsessed with her lol. Could it not have been her husband? It was clear that they both cared for each other. Even if offscreen, I would have liked for there to have been some development for them. If any couple were to get a second shot again, I would love it for it to be these two. They had decent chemistry that shocked and amazed me when it was revealed. They're both good actors that carried their parts well.

No, its not just you. Mr Legs aka LYN is the best! Still baffles me when people call him ugly. You should check…
I'm blown away by how well his different looks in this show fit him. Sometimes he looks super young and at others not. He and the female lead actress are similar that way. They compliment each other very well.

To complete my objectification of him lol - Other than his height and build, he has a very striking and distinctive face that manages to be very handsome. I think what happens with tv is that people get so used to seeing the same features bandied about courtesy of plastic surgery. This guy, if he has gotten work done, it's subtle.

ML is a giant lol, he's like 6'3, him towering over his FL counter parts always funny to me like him pairing up…
There are certain actors that always hit it out the park. And some not so much. Zhao Lusi is fantastic in everything she's in. Even when the writing is questionable, its brilliant.

This actor is definitely going on that list of mine. And yes, it might have something to do with how good looking I find him lol

Thank you! Yeah, I want these two as leads in a show together lol. He’s funny so I can only imagine them given free reign. It would be brilliant.

Okay that is tall lol.

I haven’t watched the long ballad yet. Do he and Zhao Lusi have a lot of screen time?

I would watch for these two. She’s one of my favs.

Hehehe he's really attractive and since he's tall, has broad shoulders he looks good with those costumes.😊
That he does 😂

And yes, I love that he has those shoulders. His build works for a soldier/guard. It’s believable.

Uhhh early in ep6, were we supposed to take that moment at the well as a *literal* representation of (ahem) *significant*…
Him drinking the water like a dying man?? lol I think so. Gosh that scene. I love that he’s affected but doing his best to hide it. And yet, he can’t stay away from her either.
On A Journey to Love Nov 29, 2023
Is it just me or is the male lead unbearably attractive??

I was basically screaming at my tv, that I understand the female leads insistance that he be the father of her child.

Like who wouldn’t want to carry over those genes??!

A bit more - his introductory scene, where he walks off the battlefield was beautiful and he managed to look good even looking so run down. I could have watched the entire series with him dressed like that and still understood the female leads obsession lol.

There’s something about the actor, maybe his charisma or perhaps his eyes. I don’t know what it is. But it’s mesmerizing.

Ren Xin's Empress was a kind/wise woman. The task she gave her before she passed was to help her get her humanity…
I totally agree about the baby part.

All I'm saying is, I wouldn't be surprised if her pursuit is also complicated (i.e.: mean to get her a child but not a partner/husband) and perhaps meant to deceive him (i.e.: distract him from something else too). She remembers the empress' words about having a child, but she also remembers the part about not falling in love with a man.

I love former "women of the night" characters. They're always so jaded that when love comes it's so beautiful to watch.

Yes, that is clear. The empress was definitely smart with that. But I'm talking about the FL's pursuit tactics - her perspective. She doesn't know what the empress intended with that remark.

All the FL had to do was let the ML continue to come to her. As he was doing. He gave her admiring looks and compliments, brought her into his group, and gave her some rare sweets. The latter says a lot.
I suspect that the reason she took initiative and continues to press speed is either to (a) turn him off completely or (b) make it known that s*x is all she has to offer. Maybe both. As she is in pursuit of a child and not a lover per se.

Which is sad to me, and tells me their love story is unique and worth watching.

I love our FL pursuit of the ML.

But for a woman who claims to be soo good with men, the way she's going about it seems to not jive with her level of experience. It's almost like, after sensing his interest (because he was very interested and fighting it from the "first") she is purposefully trying to push him away.

Or at the very lease she is trying put him into a box. Only the physical, but no love. That might be it actually. It's like he says, she is naive when it comes to anything but killing. She may not understand why he rejects her. Because to her love it is not real. It's so interesting, their love story.

That sounds like it fits.

I also doubt that she was born a nobody. I suspect she may have been a princess or atleast a noble lady by birth.

Why do I feel like end of ep 5, Ruyi has got more up her sleeve than her ticking clock?? I can’t put my finger on it, but I had a suspicion that she’s trying to distract him from finding out something.

General love(r) is going to betray her. My heart already hurts for the girl.

Him basically planting the idea of her being an envoy so she can pay her own dowry/collect her own fiefs is suspect. Not to mention that he’s seemingly already rejected her but strings her along anyway. I could be wrong, but let’s see.
