yeah I think Im thinking more about the writing and how we are presented with this horrible person the dad and how he is so easily forgiven. it seems an Asian thi g to prioritise career success etc over everything including children spouse. also its not uncommon to see characters like dad who abandon one family tostart a new one and leave tge original behind. Also the writer presents Ex as a villian while the dad is worthy of sympathy when in reality what dad did to ML and his mom was way worse than what ex did to FL. Just a bit weird theu way they write this forgiveness of awful parenting so often ive seen it numerous times now

Everything you are describing is the how but not the why??? There is no sense of acknowledgement from the dad that what he did was wrong or an apology. I feel the FL should be and is on the MLs side but she is obviously very clear they should reconcile why?? Why does she see the dad as a person to be so nice too and to do so much for.. Its like everyone is like look move on your dad was a terrible person but thats ok. As i said I suspect there is a cultural difference here. It seems to me that their culture is success starus and career come first especially for men. So even though the dad was a terrible father and husband its like well he was building his career. But.........couldnt you say same re her ex ?? Wasnt he just focused on himself and his career. I find these writing choices odd.

the fl being a cheerleader for the horrible ML DAD is bugging me Ep 23

im on Ep 23 and ive had ups and downs with this one but overall I really enjoy it. As a western person though I find the tendency to excuse terrible parenting quite jarring. Im not talking perse about strict parenting im talking about seriously strange parenting. In this case MLs dad basically abandoned his wife on her deathbed left his son to be traumatised as a young kid watching his mam die. Her death has basically influenced his whole reason for living especially career choice. Yet the FL is cheerleading and engineering their reconciliation. Like the dad has a new wife and kid but what were supposed to just say ah well thats life. This is not the first Asian drama ive seen where basically child abandonment is treated as not that big of a deal. Like ????

omg Ep 21 flashback to his mother in hospital he's a schoolkid she has obviously wet the bed but is completely unaware he notices by accident. How moving that tiny scene was. You were right I was too impatient but that really got me how heart breaking but also such a small amazing powerful scene

All this and you didnt mention the huge and ridiculous plot hole. The FL knows her fiance is lying but she doesnt know why. Rather than try and find out she punishes him for it and leaves him. Yet she has been lying to him by omission every single day of their relationship. Imagine have that level of arrogance Insincerity and self centredness to lie to someone every day to intrude on their thoughts without them knowing EVERY DAY but then punish them when they falter ONCE. So she storms off on a bus feeling sorry for herself. Fast forward a few years he finds her explains he was being a noble idiot HE apologises to her. She explains actually i knew you were lying etc etc. Then just callously tells him yeah im thinking of someone else not you and leaves him there. At that point he should have been enraged at her hypocrisy how she misled him and treated him so badly but he just has to sit there. She though is now trusting a guy who she knows for a few weeks a guy who lied to her about Murder no less. How could yiu root for someone like her its impossible.
