It means the new scores must be consistently high, in order to maintain 8.6 average. Btw, only three gay romance tagged productions, be it series or stand-alone movies, are at 8.7, and the other four plus Triage at 8.6.
Drums, please....! Triage has just surpassed ATOTS in quality ranking on MDL at the time of writing. It jumped quite a few notches in just a few days π
This is a short, but informative, interview with Sammon who talks about her books: MoD, Transplant, Bite Me, and Triage. It took place more than a year ago, so she was still pretty tight-lipped about Triage being brought to the screen
Maybe it is a MDL glitch πCheck Out ratings are seeping through to Minatoπ€£? I think only single episode ratings should be accepted on MDL during the run; no overall ratings nor reviews should be allowed until the last episode is broadcast
I hope that what the competitors take from kinnporsche is not that mafia stories are in now . I wish the other…
TBH, I am not overly concerned with potential copycat BL mafia dramas. It requires serious bucks and resolve to bring anything close to KP in scope to the screens. What I am really wishing for is for the producers to understand creativity and bold ideas are the key elements to succeed in the BL market nowadays, that became very crowded, in Thailand especially. Provide captivating storylines that go beyond college campus shenanigans, or entertainment, or both, then you'll hit the jackpot with KP, or Triage, or Not Me
I hope Dr. Bun (Tul) will poach Dr. Tin (Tae) from the ER residency to his transplant team, if TV Thunder is serious about bringing Transplant the book to the screen (otherwise, why this post-credit crumb?). It would be super cool to have MaxTul & TaeTee in the same series. If also Inspector M (from MoD) gets a promotion to the same town as Dr. Bun, while keeping his one size too small uniform on, that would be a guaranteed blast! Tul is supposed to start his delayed Master's program in NYC this fall, and he's involved in The Ocean Eyes the series too ( I think they are shooting it now...). That would mean Transplant going into production no earlier than late spring 2023, and released no earlier than fall 2023 in the best of the circumstances. The only thing you could bet on there will be close to zero effort to market it outside Thailand in any meaningful way.
I am saying it in jest! However, I saw on KP BTS all the cast and crew members were tested for the virus every morning and those deemed okay to work had green stickers on their clothing + masking if not performing, even outdoors. If you notice, in many current BL series, other than Raikantopeni intro, there's opening message the shooting and production took place according to the on-set sanitary rules
I totally dig the vibe of a quaint Japanese seaside town that I get from the series. You can almost feel the sticky air of a late spring afternoon, when you go shopping in the same places around your neighbourhood, and meet chatty customers at your laundromat.
It is one of a quite few instances in Jpn productions when acting is totally natural, rather than cartoonish. I really like how Shin is fierce, and how he doesn't question his feelings, whereas Akira is quite apprehensive, with valid reasons in his mind. For Akira life came a full circle... He was exactly in the same spot as Shin ten years ago, but times have changed. Youngsters like Shin are much more confident nowadays, I guess in Japan too. I keep fingers crossed Minato Laundry doesn't lose steam on the way...
Sadly, it's is over, but Triage delivered, and then some IMHO. It didn't overstay its welcome, if you get my drift! Other viewers are def better at doing a detailed summary, so I'll limit myself to giving it an overall score in the stats above. What a journey it became...! If I can be honest, I sorta liked the first episode, but I wouldn't say I was overly excited. It looked good, but somewhat chaotic at the beginning... Then the loops started to multiply, and I've been sucked in! I salute all involved in making Triage for keeping me, and many others, utterly fascinated, and eager for each episode to drop on Monday. The formula stayed fresh, the energy carried to the very end. Maybe its success is in being a BL that is not really a BL in the standard sense, which doesn't take viewers for granted.
Re: final episode... I may be in a dissenting minority, but I consider ep. 13 very satisfactory in my books. It started black, as in the first poster, then the real final minutes became dazzling white, as in rebirth, and as in the second poster for the episode.
I found those final scenes oddly moving and relaxing: Gap and Sing touching arms ever so genty in the ER room, Mai with her bf and her mum, hotpot dinner banter, the clock tower encounter... I think we needed a slow and, shall I say, sweet trot to the finish line, rather than a sprint and the full stop... πππππ
Writers and directors shall take note that you do not need to: - make boys drive around in Beemers, Audis or Merces; - have the umbrella over the other ML's head when it is pouring cats and dogs, usually outside the uni bldg. or the dorm; - have one ML trip over another and plant a meek kiss accidentally; - have an ex-gf who's borderline psycho; - a full first-aid kit out in order to attend to one of the ML's knee scratches; feel free to go the whole shebang and show open-body wounds, blood, and tears, with the proper ER equipment (scalpels, catheters) when the story really calls for it. Just be bloody creative, and we'll be more than grateful for it!!! Triage did it!
If you just look at MDL, considering there was no effort from the producers and distributors to market it to interfans through any means whatsoever (just look how Cute Pie was promoted and pushed on twitter for audiences abroad for a contrast), Triage is a resounding success, with 8.6 rating and ranked at # 236. To compare with the direct competition: ATOTS 8.6/ranked at # 229 Bad Buddy 8.5/ ranked at # 322 Not Me 8.5/ranked at # 333 KinnPorsche 8.3/ranked at # 714, but with a very solid popularity at # 245.
I see that Sammon's book, that may be the basis for a follow up series, is translated as Transplant, rather than Euthanasia. Maybe some cross-over cameos from Triage?
MDL, get fucked and get your shit together. There is absolutely no way this is STILL at an 8.3.
As I have posted it elsewhere, a Nobel prize should go to that person who cracks the reasoning behind the MDL algorithms for BL-themed series. If I were a malicious thinker, I'd say they put "brakes" that overall rating doesn't go above certain threshold. How is it aversge scores per episode are 9.++, whereas the overall final one is stuck in low eights?! It is not the first time, nor the last, I am afraid. In the end, it is the overall success that counts!! Btw, IMDB rating = 9.1/10 Google reviews = 4.9/5
Ep. 13 black poster to the right, and the white one to the right.... Like in many other languages, you read Thai from left to right... What if this is a hint for the things to come...? I believe somebody has commented on it already... I am usually wrong with any plot theories across the board but I'll go for another shot... We are still in a penultimate loop... Every character has experienced travelling across several circles of Purgatory, or Hell, while retaining some crumbs, bits and pieces from previous loops. TinTol and GapSing will all die in this current loop, I am afraid. Hence, the black poster. However, all the righteous ones will be resurrected in the final and happy one . That's why the white poster! it's interesting that it is Tol and Jinta on the foreground. I think they'll all retain the good memories from all the past loops and move to living happily ever after.
Tankhun should be the one to head BOTH families - he could even lead the whole gang to go fabulously legit; daddy Korn should retire and go to looking after his health and playing chees more; KP should concentrate on growing and nurturing marital bliss; 'Chay on serious musical studies; Kim on really finding his life goals; VP should spend serious time on therapy, if they wanna lead happy life together
Isn't it interesting Korn can be assessed as a devil puppeteer only upon conclusion of the ep. 14? He was giving this aura of a somewhat unwell older mafia don adept at chess playing... Maybe that prop of a chessboard was a major clue, after all? If there is S2, I would not be surprised if he became the ultimate target for revenge, being a master manipulator who made lives miserable to those who are even closest to him
