If I were Akk, my curiosity would be tickled well enough that I'd google Uncle Di's name trying to find out more about his whereabouts at this point. Could it be due to his steadfast adherence to no-cellphones for non emergencies policy?
Absolutely kawai'i!!! A very Japanese BL on one hand, but also refreshingly different in many other aspects. I didn't mind the slow burn of a story at all that sorta matched the languid vibe of their seaside hometown. Asuka, Shin and Akira all found love and happiness. This is what counts ultimately. I concur with an earlier post than teens were adults here, though. Kudos to the producers about the age gap that's been approached in a very refreshing and non-jugmental way IMHO. Maybe it boils down to cultural differences and to the fact it seems Japan hasn't been afflicted by the moral panic in this matter. Btw, it is not just the outro, but also the intro that has been altered. I couldn't really resist giggling at Asuka's moves π€£ Edit: Shintaro is an absolute BL MVP international edition.
Can anyone plz explain this to me that how did tiew & mork die? I'm still confused π₯²
I think the reasons for their deaths are glossed over for a purpose, in order not to distract the viewers too much. They wouldn't bring much story-wise, except quenching our curiosity imho.
I think the only styling First should be allowed on the set is in sleeveless t-shirts, like in Not Me. Hot af... His short-pant suit is way too geeky π€£ I really appreciate how many current Thai BL series take more and more digs, be it veiled or more obvious, at persisiting societal stigmas and political issues that Thailand continues to face nowadays. I find it quite courageous if you confront it with what's considered subversive in Thailand. The Eclipse entertains, but also let us learn...
It's interesting Minato Akira sports more often than not simple t-shirts emblazoned with various Japanese foodstuff names: sushi, sashimi, natto... keep it local!
Why are their dorms so nice and spacious I'm jealous I wish my dorm was half as nice as Pran and Pat's
The dorm scenes were shot on location in one of the hotels/golf resorts close to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok. If I am not mistaken, the same location appears in Meow Ears Up too. In any case, in the Thai BL fantasy word uni students live in pretty digs, often with marble-clad bathrooms. Good for them!
Fresh from ContentAsia award ceremony: "BL programming continues to gain ground in Asia. Stories of secret love, heartbreak and healing are finding broad audiences as Asia's LGBTQ+ filmmakers reflect their reality on screen. And as the world embraces diversity, same-sex couples and families are making their way into fiction and telling their stories in factual programming. " AND THE WINNER ISβ¦ Bad Buddy Series πͺππππππππππππ Btw, it is the industry jury, rather than a fanvote!
Bad Buddy Rerun EP1 is coming on September 4th.Does anyone know anything about this?https://twitter.com/fangurks/status/1562733516458459137
Thai GMM25 tv channel will show BBS reruns starting September 4th. My uneducated guess is that doesn't matter to interfans much, as Bad Buddy is always available on YT for our rewatching pleasure, but perhaps it's geoblocked for viewers with Thai IPS
Having just finished watching ep. 2, I started wondering whether Punnasak Sukee is, perhaps, a big fan of Fellini, Antonioni et al. At some point I even expected a sudden cameo by Marcello Mastroianni. Heck, Wang IS like a young Mastroianni... Def not your usual Thai BL, but a full-blown gay drama in a ligue on its own, so far at least.
After the first episode I had this uncanny feeling it looked more like a stage play. I checked the director's bio, as some of you did it already (I encourage others to do so too, to understand his background and accomplishments better). Lo and behold, this is his first venture in the tv/film universe. It is entirely possible that was his deliberate choice to blend stage-like directing with the new medium, i.e. camera, for him. For example, I've observed all the conversations in the first episode were static, not much actors' movement across the plan. So far, it works! I am eager to watch the second episode. Btw, I don't know why, but August: Osage County play and the movie adaptation came to my mind...
I am in love with some orchestral bgm passages, especially when they drive out of the city, then in the woods, and in the house. Also, I find the camera work well done. Even the drone shots aren't overdone and feel appropriate to the story. Somebody has commented on it already, but the delivery is often stage-like; something straight from a play rather than a free flow of a film set, especially during the house scenes, but maybe that's a deliberate choice. I find there is enough introduction to get the rough idea of the main characters, but also there's enough elements that are left to future interpretation. Too bad I don't understand Thai to get all the subleties about addressing each other with the correct honorifics, and about putting nephew/uncle in quotation marks in the subs...
Seriously, maybe it's just me, but some frames from Shin & Minato's beach walk looked like straight from a Flemish painting. Shin is a champ, helped by his boundless teenage optimism. Thinking of Minato, I wouldn't be surprised it there were more people like him IRL... self-doubt, low self-esteem, afraid of societal stigma, maybe general shyness too....

For Tonnam & Title fans, there are some more details about Wish You Luck: https://youtu.be/nkiSjf34qao (subs available, even if they look somewhat messed up) I thought it is a movie, but it is a BL series, actually. Get ready for 2023! Btw, both are reuniting on the screen once again, since they were portraying brothers in The Yearbook, Tonnam being a secondary character.
#197 as we speak?! That's the highest rank it has ever been! ππππ Incoming votes are surely consistent at being in high eights! That must speak of Triage quality if the rank is improving even after the series are over for a while!
OhmNanon's unique relationship, whatever you wanna call it, is much more interesting IRL than majority of Thai BL writers could ever come up with. Kudos to them for not being ashamed of showing their emotions in the public. πππππππ
