Actually Mr hori had asked them to write about their future and if you remember there was a scene in which minato's mom goes out to get groceries, we see him writing something, he was writing about his future and he put yori's name there but when his mom comes he immediately erases that. But yori on the other hand wrote minato's name in his future and it obviously didn't catch Mr hori's eyes before but then he sees minato's name on what yori considers his future he immediately realizes the whole situation. Yes honestly at the end of the day this all was just the father's fault. You had a wife and a child and I can clearly see that by the actions of his sister, she clearly misunderstood his love for her as a sister as something else but the fact that he didn't stop her and did that shit just proves he was the worst and then he even leaves her.
