"Homosexuality isn't right", that's the movie. If you can bear this surprise you may want to watch just to see the photography that's excellent. (What in tarnation I just watched...?)
I analysed this movie for a college course about the different methods of criticising a text (or movie). I think…
"I think Godzilla have plenty of interpretations, it could be read as the representation of fear and trauma, THE JAPANESE WHO SURVIVED THE WAR HAD TO RELIEVE THE DESTRUCTION AND CHAOS"
Not that I was thinking about this movie, but every time I remember and think about it, see comments, it gets worse. How did "the "japanese relieved" the "destruction and chaos" of the war? Contrary to their neighbors they had peace and reconstruction. While Japan was putting itself back, with help, their neighbors were still fighting wars to free themselves from external interests. Japan even profited a lot about those wars and deaths, so how did "the japanese" exactly "relieved" anything? They didn't!
"but also decided to do something about it when they ideated the plan to kill it; as guilt"
I interpret this as "they decided to be what they became in the real world, a tool to kill others" with their fabs and bases.
I'll watch along with Netflix release, watched two episodes and want to write here me theory: Takahashi is not an alien, despite having unusual powers.
Maybe is a false flag, but for now I say it's obvious, isn't it? It's hinted at the very first scene, his powers comes from Mount Fuji. And that's why I also suspect that Kiyomi will have acquire some powers, there are some hints to this possibility.
I don't think the ending makes sense, the last scene. Shouldn't be Yi An (Ean) to go back to the past, after all she is originally from the past, and she would be back and the right physical age she should be. Neung Pa could even tell her what was her original identity, who her mother was.
I don't think "payoff" of Muruk going back to should "taxi" worked, it was cheap and dumb. Yi An (Ean) has nothing "left to do" in the present and there's no way Muruk can live decently in the present.
Hum... I can say that I liked this movie but in the end if felt pointless. I imagine with the longer TV version has more to it at the end.
And without ironies and cynicism, for a "musical" movie maybe half made to promote the singer, this movie have have a bit "too much music", and excesso of music in some moments.
ps: this movie suffers A LOT at the middle after Suzu Hirose's character vanishes.
Yuki's testimony was a very BAD defense. It made it look like she asked Hidemaru to kill the guy. Oh boys, it's another case of a japanese movie with a "speech" in the end that when you think about it doesn't say what needs to be said or doesn't make much sense.
Anyway, there's no way Hidemaru can escape conviction, it was premeditated murder.
It's an interesting movie, as expected from what I know of Susumu Hani, but I failed to understand what this movie is about. Unless that what happened is not what happens in the story...

And this is getting out of control!

This is a good show, and it's obvious Takahashi isn't an alien, which makes me expect if Kiyomi will also gain some power.

Glad I was wrong.
But still...

Taeko was played like a fiddled.
edit: actually, I noticed but had forgotten!
