Lack of intelligence in the decisions of the female and male leads.
I'm just 11 episodes in, and so far, it's okay. However, as with many Chinese dramas that have a large number of episodes, there are a lot of unnecessary scenes that do not contribute to the story.
What annoys me the most is the lack of logic in the main character’s decisions [Master of the Wan Lu Sect, Li Chenlan]. His actions often seem irrational and unreasonable.
For example, if an entire group of guards you sent out was killed, wouldn't you, as a leader, go with them the next time to prevent the same outcome?
Another instance: You take in a girl who tried to kill you and notice that she behaves like two completely different people. Wouldn't you investigate the matter yourself, even if only for a day? Why not ask specific questions to expose her ? Moreover, the person assigned to spy on her seems to be absent in key moments—many of which would have exposed her or at least raised suspicion. Somehow, despite claiming to be watching her day and night, he always manages to miss the most crucial moments.
There are many other scenes that also highlight the lack of intelligence in the main female character’s [lu zhaoyao] actions. Why does she not use her brain. Everything li chenlan has done was to please her. She suddenly changed 180° degrees and wants to kill him. Like girl, logic? He would most likely sacrifice everything for you and give you whatever you desire. Since I appreciate logic and clever decision-making, this drama has been disappointing in that regard so far.
