I'm a fan of Koshiba Fuka and I have to admit, she looks waaay better with minimalist makeup. But the makeover…
Yep - Fully agree with your analysis, it's for the plot. And I definitely agree she looks better with less 100%.
This is my first Japanese show & the only Japanese star I knew before this is Koyuki because of The Last Samurai (2003). I for some reason have a harder time watching Japanese shows, I started Korean in summer 2023 then Chinese a few months later, I have tried other Jdrama's but this is the 1st I have got passed episode 1. lol
Is it just me who thought she looked stunning before the makeover, true I find women more attractive with longer hair, though, so that is a strong reason lol
IF the ML is handsome, then I bet there will be NO complaint about his toxic attitude + character in early episodes.…
As a straight guy, I've notice something similar from commenters when they're prattling on about second lead syndrome because the actors is apparently better looking, even when the character is not very good lol.
Am like I on occasion find the 2FL more physically attractive but I have never went I prefer them over the FL, unless they are both good characters. Closest I actually came was "Dali and the Cocky Prince" both FL and 2FL are gorgeous and the 2FL is actually a nice person, she originally seems like she might not be but she isn't conniving, actually genuinely loved the ML but when she realised he was in love with FL she backed off and to certain extent even helped.
Except for the end, I enjoyed this. 54 episodes felt like 20 episodes - 9 out of 10 from me, I was tempted to reduce it due to the sad ending, but it seemed unfair.
Good, I gave it 9/10, maybe a little high, but hey, I enjoyed it.
Although it's a drama about twins, I found that Mi Ji's character is most definitely centre stage. Mi Rae is almost an afterthought; I didn't feel her character was fleshed out as much as Mi Ji's, and the show focused more on Mi Ji, so I saw her as the lead.
i know that everybody has their own opinion but the way this person before me said "why is the main lead ugly"…
As a straight guy, he was far from ugly, he just isn't a unrealistic level of attractiveness that not even all actors have lol That always bothers me they're are meant to be normal people working relatively normal jobs, not models with god tier looks.
I actually prefer when they're not super attractive it makes the drama a bit more realistic.
I know people will say it's meant to be a fantasy blah blah, but when every show is like it then that sometimes makes peoples expectations in reality way out of the attainability.
Pretty sure I read that he cheated on her with Hu Bing Qing while filming Insect Totem (2023), and was apparently…
Possible. Although I want to watch most of her shows, so far I have only watched "Love Scenery" and "Sunshine of My Life", nothing later, so I can't judge.
It could also just be wrong roles, as there's the odd Kdrama of actresses that I have liked everything they've been in except 1 drama.
And I definitely agree she looks better with less 100%.

But aesthetically I found her more attractive pre makeover.
I was only looking at the "Our Unwritten Seoul" title, didn't even notice the others. Makes sense now.

I will eventually get around to trying her older stuff, but my to-watch list is getting out of control lol
