I don't think she "dies" its just wine. She left the capital on her own - she doesn't need to be moved by anyone. She leaves before he gets back because she didn't want him to leave with her she wants him to stay and complete his reforms. That is what the voiceover says (which I assume is in a letter). He is just a prince and prime minister he is not and never becomes an emperor. You must be watching a bad translation. After he finishes with the reforms he joins her in the countryside. His work is done. But if you want to believe she dies you are free to, I just think that is an even bigger stretch of the imagination.

Its not made that clear but if you watch it carefully you will come to the same conclusion. The emperor did pardon her but of course she cannot stay in the capital in such high status.. At the end he joins her at the house she built for him (she shows it to him around ep 50) in the countryside near where his mother was banished to. It is more imagination to assume she died because nothing is shown other than she drinks some wine. The only thing I concluded myself is she must have been exiled and that was the compromise reached with the emperor. Same compromise Pengcheng did with Jingling with respect to their mother.

Or pretty bad. Depends on whether you liked AOL. I didn't. :)

I just started but ymy heart stopped when you mentioned AOL but not dumb or annoying and better actress all saved me. Its very early for me but this actually reminds me more of Journey of Flower (esp the FL styling) but I didn't get very far in AOL so I may be wrong.

Yeah it felt like that to me too - I was gonna watch concurrently but I found it too hard. I don't think I will go back to it.

The last 16 episodes where he has a big part playing a general that rebels got cut - probably never sees the light of day. It was just bad luck HK was in on the verge of anarchy at the time so all of that stuff was cut. He is the ML in Love of Thousand Years.

Yeah RN is long and depressing and his role was more demanding but sadly never completely aired. Since then he seems to have taken on only a bunch of fluffy roles, kind of like Xu Kai has also. He is also in Love of a Thousand Years which is a good story with poor execution and the FL bombed out midway.

Did you finish it? I started it and gave up after 20-30 minutes.

I have been a fan since Royal Nirvana been kind of watching things bc he is in them... hence Sleepless Princess which is not my normal genre... He needs better roles, I think he is a good actor but that one seems slightly miscast...
