I think you put your finger on why this is working for me. No one character, actor or romance is being asked to…
I set my TV to movie/filmmaker mode - it gets rid of most of that problem.

I am sure they will. The problem is in China people with jobs work 12-15 hours 6 days a week. If they are in tech its 9 to 9 x 6. So must employed people with money have limited subscriptions bc they don't have time to watch. Then there is huge unemployment in the 16-25 age group - most of them live off their hard working parents and grandparents. They watch lots of idol dramas and flock towards traffic actors. They don't have that much money to pay so its largely funded by ads. There are also lots of older dramas about older folks that people on here don't watch that targets retirees. But in the middle which is where most normal working people live there is very little content.

The writers will boost his evilness really quickly and for no reason. Fear of losing FL ? Another obsessive 2ML.
He already thinks he is emperor with all the attendant privileges.

Either drop it or watch it properly bc no one is gonna waste time helping you understand a story you didn’t…
Its my pet peeve - peeps who FF through dramas and spam the comment section with silly comments/questions.

Exactly - he tasted power and decided he likes it.

They just need to start writing more mature lead roles for their established actors. Then we don't get the aging out 30+ crowd (men and women) trying to play teenagers and make room for new talent. We are starting to be a lot better roles for older actors these days, they just don't pay as well as idol dramas bc view counts are low.

Well they are each willing to sacrifice something or someone the others care about under the bus to achieve their common goal so it is going to be hard for them to work together.

Idk maybe the teenagers/consumers of idol dramas do. I just think its hard to introduce unknown actors to secure the amount of investment needed to make dramas. Even though they are aged out, a lot of big name actresses are needed to anchor projects. But they no longer look the part and end up being heavily made up and filtered. Its a totally unrealistic beauty standard that hopefully is just a phase.

Limao has ambitions. He always prioritized the throne over FL. So it's not clicked if he turns evil after his…
I think he has seen the writing on the wall with Jiayu. He is just lying to himself so he can move forward with his plans. As she said, he never knew what he wanted in the past. But now he does and what he wants is power and he is going for it. He is really not that into Jiayu or he’d have chosen her long ago.

lol - I remember Jing Tian being so heavily filtered in some otherwise forgettable drama that they practically erased her nostrils in most scenes.

One question though…what was the point of the father allowing the FL and SML to get close to each other growing…
I think the Grand Tutor is very diabolical and scheming and he plays a long game but I think that was somewhat inevitable when he decided to be his son’s tutor. In Chinese culture a master is treated with the same filial piety as a parent. I do think however he later on groomed his son in the image of a man Jiayu would admire and that was deliberate. Remember she said initially she resented Ah Mao until he turned into such a charming young man.

Ai Mi took this script knowing it is a romantic drama and HMH is ML at 28. At 17, she is above the age of consent…
I think you still don’t get my point - it is Ai Mi’s and her parent’s right to choose. Respect it instead of trying to trample on their free will and agency just bc of your personal views on what a teenager should or should not be able to do.

Title Key to the Phoenix Heart Spoiler
Mao is very selfish. Why would he think Jiayu will be safe..loved.. and care free in the palace when that lady…
Indeed but I think Jiayu is already on to him. He has already lost her, she just won't admit it to herself yet. I do respect how he is willing to step up and sacrifice to protect his sister. I think in his heart he knows Wuyi is right and Jiayu would never agree to share him with a Cui daughter. The only way he can go forward with it is to lie to himself that he can make it work, that Jiayu would understand bc it is for Lejun.

I think after ep 11 and 12 I have more or less figured out Li Mao and Li Lejun's back story and titles - the earlier posts on this topic are too far down the comments so I just made a discussion post on it above.
