I didn't like her acting at all in Blossom - too many fixed dead duck stare scenes. She is a lot more expressive and natural here. But I agree her makeup is too heavy and leaves a lot to be desired. She put herself in harms way by insisting on marrying him. And he is not killing her to just kill her, he is trying to frame the crown prince for her death. But as she shows she could be useful to him, the calculus will change.
