Sadly, a lot of the things we read about happened to him during those 12 years and in his last couple of days might be true. There are just too many video- and audio-clips out there to be just some random rumor-monger having fun with AI. The sheer magnitude of Censorship alone, is proof that something horrible happened to him. Why else would they block all news and discussions about his death? Since there are so many who want to make money off of his misfortune, it is hard to tell which info is true. That is why so many people around the world are signing the petition. Raising awareness and attempting to pressure China into re-investigating his death.

Numbers are still rising. Its 712,885 at this very moment. I hope many more will sign. Lets never forget this gentle soul 🙏🙏🙏

Living in a society where “Censorship” is practically non-existent, it is hard to imagine how hard it is to find information in a society ruled by it. You only boycott if you have (or are able to find) reasons to do so. That is why this attempt to raise awareness is driven by non-residential Chinese and an international audience (fans or not).

I can’t verify that personally, but according to multiple sources, no mainland Chinese are able to sign the petition nor search on his name or anything remotely connected to him (homonyms, abbreviations, nicknames and the likes).

It won't help directly since they have no authority in China, but it helps build awareness. The more people who sign, the more talk it will generate. At the very least it gives people a place to vent their frustration and sends a clear signal that YML will not be forgotten, however hard the Censorship tries to eradicate him.

It did pop up on page 1 in my area, but there are so many articles/videos about him now that some might cause MDL to go down the searchlist. I guess that's a good thing since that means that the world is still talking about him. Lets never forget this gentle soul.

Alternative summary:
FL, a painter, spends the night with a stranger (ML) at her female cousin’s wedding and is scolded by her family for ruining the event. Dissatisfied with her life which is strictly controlled by her uncle, his inappropriate infatuation of her face and being continuously prohibited from seeing her grandmother - who is held captive in the backyard - FL finally decides to escape. So, with the help of her bestie, she leaves the mansion, planning to go abroad to study art.
Meanwhile, the man, the top tycoon from Hong Kong (ML), she slept with tries to find this unknown woman. A man known for being ruthless and goes by the name of “Open Sea Shark”. Although he gets words of a woman looking like her going to the airport, he fails to catch her. Sadly, FL is caught by her male cousin while visiting her parent’s graves.
Fortunately, ML finds her again as her female cousin brings her to a party in order to find a man to marry her off to - as planned by FL’s aunt who isn’t satisfied with her husband’s improper interest in FL. Soon, the two of them are entangled as FL executes her plans to leave the abusive family and ML does his best to help her.

Xu Nan Yin, a fashion shop manager, is on her way to a class reunion when she has the same dream once again of her and Pei Jing Mo, her classmate, whom she had a relationship with 4 years earlier - a relationship that ended abruptly when he got engaged to someone else. But, thinking that he isn’t attending the reunion - since she has already checked - she enters the venue and surprises everybody by having changed from an ugly and poor classmate to a well off and beautiful woman. Little does she know that Pei Jing Mo, now a powerful CEO of his family business, has cancelled all his plans in order to attend the reunion, wanting to reconnect with Xu Nan Yin.

As soon as he arrives, he goes straight towards her and later declares to everyone present that she is his future wife. But what happened back then has Xu Nan Yin on the defense, not wanting to get hurt again. So she refuses him, claiming to already have a husband and child. A choice that seems quite fitting when Xu Nan Yin runs into his fiancé Chen Wei Wei at the bridal shop, wanting to try on the wedding dress he apparently personally designed for her.

But saying no to this tenacious guy proves harder than expected and soon, the two of them are yet again entangled as he does his best to pursue her again and she does her best to refuse him.

I admit, it's been too long since I watched this one and I can't find the video. But my guess is that it's the protector who is ML and not a character who harass FL.
