I enjoyed the drama mostly. The one thing that bugged me is that the FL's acting really took me out. I don't think she does a very good job of portraying certain emotions like sorrow, grief, etc. When she cries it reminds me of angelababy where it looks like she just had eyedrops in her eyes.
I think ML did a great job though and the plot was good even if I've seen similar plots before.
Angelababy is very pretty but man girlfriend can not act. Her crying scenes were so bad and really made me want to drop the whole thing. I do enjoy watching SWL though so I tried really hard to finish but between the flimsy plot, bad acting, and lack of chemistry, I just couldn’t bring myself to finish.
I enjoyed this more than moonlight mystique surprisingly. The OST was great, the chemistry was there. Watching this drama made me realize that there aren't enough FLs that are flirty and direct and I enjoyed how mischievous she was. My only complaint is that it started dragging a bit from 30-36 but then got back on track
I absolutely love how supportive and loving the main couple were towards each other. They were such a healthy couple and frankly that’s rare in Japanese dramas lol
I really wanted to like this more because I love love love Bai Lu, but the drama was okay. I found myself skipping through at some point. The OST is one of the best I've heard, but I noticed they played it every few minutes and it was a bit much.
Is anyone else disturbed that a nearly 30 year old is interested and dating a 19 year old?? I'm in my thirties I could not imagine ever being remotely interested in someone that is barely an adult.
Outside of that, I think that the drama was really cute and funny. Li Xian is so handsome and hilarious. But yeah, kinda hard to ignore the age gap between them. And the rushing to get married bothered me too.
This was just a string of abusive, cruel, and violent relationships towards the FL. It was questionable whether or not the ML even loved the FL when almost every single scene he is assaulting her or being straight up cruel. It was really exhausting watching the FL get treated like a punching bag between all the different men and 2FL. Gross.
I had very low expectations and was so pleasantly surprised how easy of a watch this was. Nothing overly complicated or dramatic. It was a nice mellow, romantic drama. I loved how they depicted conflict in the drama and how it was addressed. Cute, funny and sweet.
I am probably in the minority with this opinion. I wanted to like the drama more because the cast lineup was so good and the directors did My Journey to You. In the beginning the "dramatic" or fight scenes were spectacular and interesting. However after awhile, it just felt like everything was dramatic and it got really repetitive. If they had just made certain moments really stand out, everything else would not have felt overdone. I did enjoy the storytelling at some parts and the character development was great. I just wish it didn't feel like it was constant rinse and repeat of the same crying, conflict, and fight. Neo did great in this role and I can't wait to see him in more dramas.
The way this drama got me out of my long drama slump. I was really pleasantly surprised at how well written and captivating the drama was. I know there were some criticisms around the slow burn romance but I enjoyed the dialogue and dynamic between the two of them. I do think it's odd that Allen Ren has a stipulation about no kissing/skinship when he keeps going for the main lead of romance dramas. But outside of that I really think that the brooding, dark knight character suits him and he does a good job of playing that role.
At some point the angst reminded me of Goodbye My Princess and it put me in all sorts of feels. The pacing, character development, and the sentiment of the drama was executed well. I will be rewatching this again.
I really enjoyed this drama more than I thought I would. Writing, pacing, OST, chemistry, and casting were wonderful. It got me out of my drama slump. This drama was better than Story of Kunning Palace. I think the relationship between the leads was healthier and more endearing. Did not like ZLH 's character in the other drama. I did however find that the back and forth between the ML/FL was a bit annoying at first but after understanding the FL's background and upbringing, it made a lot of sense. Overall, a solid 8.5/10
Loved the well written story line, the cinematography, OST, and leads. I do think that viewers were robbed of a proper romance as it was the slowest slow burn I've ever watched- holding hands at like episode 32? One kiss the whole drama? They did have chemistry though, and this drama could have been a 10 for me if it leaned in the romance like it promised.
Seriously wished they had casted just about anyone else for the ML. He was so stoic and cringe in his acting. The lack of any real expression in his face took away from so many of the scenes. You'd think his acting would have gotten better by now???
Otherwise, the story, the relationships, and the slice of life theme were heart warming and the FL alone is enough to carry the entire show.
