This is the lowest drama I have rated this year. 3/10. 1 for Park Hyung Sik, 1 for Seo In Guk and 1 for the staff (post production — cleaners, etc who has nothing to do with the writing or directing) for the effort in making this. Sorry but this is a train-wreck, hot mess. Def not watching if ever a S2 is announced. Save your 8 hours and avoid this at all cost. You won’t be missing anything, trust me.
I am having the biggest second hand embarrassment for the big names on the cast. No amount of Kopiko can perk me up right now.
The only thing I hate about this drama is the time slot. With all the yummy food being cooked, you crave at worst yet you cannot order anything late at night. I love this show nevertheless!
P.S. Torturing myself with EP35 of Chef and My Fridge 2 now. Back to back for food.
Coz he’s also the screenwriter. I feel he is venting his short lived role in the Eternals.
I don’t hate anyone on this series at all. In fact I was excited to see this since I enjoyed Squad 38 with Don Lee, SIG and the guy with the role of Doni. But this show is really not giving! I saw that they are gunning for an Eternals vibes but nope, too much frustration on their idiocy since they have lived for a hundred maybe a thousand years and used to be “gods”. The source material is the problem and the direction.
Really the writer is a lawyer too? These days law dramas written by lawyers are taking over I guess. I loved "The…
Yes BTB screenwriter is an active lawyer as per AllKPop article
“Meanwhile, screenwriter Park Mi Hyun, who is still active as a lawyer, brings authenticity and depth with details drawn from her real-life experiences.”
Kudos to the screenwriter. Found out she’s a lawyer herself and Beyond The Bar seems to be her debut project in mainstream screenwriting. I look forward to seeing more of her projects especially legal ones. I will miss this show.
This show is super frustrating to watch, all the helplessness and idiocy. Why do I feel like it has become a very expensive self-promoting Don Lee movie? Such a waste of cast.
I think this is my least fave Lee Dong Wook project. I finished if for the sake of my time investment but he clearly has ZERO chemistry with Lee Sung Kyung. I was hoping at the end, they will show how his old gang ended up.
This drama has the music aspect to it but it is not giving, half-baked if I may say. What kept me going honestly is the family dynamics. The bromance is more interesting with Park Hoon. Not a fan of the leads’ romantic arc. 7/10.
