as someone who doesn't like historical dramas , is this worth watching? should I give it a chance?
Hi! I'm also someone who generally does not like historicals, but this one is genuinely very good! I tried to get into The Double because it was similarly hyped but couldn't get into it. This one had me hooked since episode 1. It's beautifully done - kudos to the whole team behind it!
I heard that sang zhis parents are pretty much against their relationship. if that is true then do they interfere…
I loved the portrayal of Sang Zhi's parents. They did indeed have (reasonable IMO) concerns and communicated them to Jiaxu. However, Sang Zhi stood up for herself in a mature way, and they stepped aside afterwards. Overall, it was realistic and sensible - nothing overly dramatic or angsty.
You know I find I it funny that they say that the actress is so childish just because of her natural voice, yet…
100% agree. I think it comes down to cultural differences and expectations for teenage/young women's behaviours. Personally, Esther is THE cutest c-celeb for me at the moment. She's so effortlessly adorable both in real life and in this drama, and everything she does makes my heart do happy skips lol.
Absolutely underrated GEM. A buried jewel of a show.
Love the depth and maturity of it. I feel like it is most suited to viewers of university age and older, who may better appreciate the subject matters.
This was a treat to watch. It's beautiful how the characters balanced career/dreams and their love for each other. Many people are put into positions where they are pressured to give up one for the other. This has been such an inspiration for what is possible between two mature partners.
I dropped this faster than a hot potato. Was prepared for xenophobia to a certain degree, but not like this. I also morally stand against the destruction of the girls' mental health and existing self-confidence for the sake of 'entertainment'. The performances did not make up for things either. Perhaps I've aged out of the viewer demographic.
Love this drama so much except the ending. What was your favorite scene? Mine was after the battle in episode…
1. Shiyi and Zhou Shengchen's honeymoon boat ride in Nan Xiao. 2. The iconic goodbye scene where Shiyi touched Zhou Shengchen's nose. 3. Shiyi's jump. Heartbreaking but in that moment, she was finally at peace.
Shout-out to all the scenes with Pingqin Emperor and Longkang Academy's master too LOL.
