I too hate dumb FL. A total turn off for me but I was patient with Xuanji because I knew she was the so called god of war so I knew there was more to it. I'm in for smart FL. I have no problems with love triangles but the one with Ashes of Love had no solid reason for it's existence. Fighting for the heavenly throne would have been much more interesting than fighting for a woman with no solid reason to do so.
Thank you. I enjoyed Love and Redemption so much that am tempted to go and watch it the third time. Btw Do we have handsome men here like in love and redemption? I just can't forget the mermaid guy, the dragon snake guy and Wu Zhu Qi. I can't forget Wu Zhu Qi. I remember his name to this day.
I noticed the toxicity the show had but I just ignored it and I watched to see where all this love would end. The toxic part was how clingy Run Yu was towards Jin Mi even though he had someone who loved him. It was hard for me to see the poor girl loving Run Yu on the side while he himself is clinging on to Jin Mi and how the brothers tore themselves apart for a woman. I found it way too unnecessary. I felt like Jin Mi was tome a kind of a Mary Sue because she had nothing special to attract such handsome men like them except her bubbly personality whereas Xuanji was much more than just a woman. Anyway I completed it and contemplated what moral story could we get from a story like Ashes of Love.I loved the love triangle between Sifeng and Bailing Dijun. There was a reason behind it.
I finished it because I wanted to know how the lead characters ended up while fighting for their love and how much more they would sacrifice and how Run Yu would end up. Btw, Run Yu was my favourite character 🤣. He was much more intriguing than the lead and his story was the most interesting thing in the whole series. So it was curiosity which drove me although I had little interest.
I enjoy all genres. All of them and I love political dramas much more but epic romance with solid plot isn't bad but I don't want to watch a drama where romance is the focal point of the story. I have watched many of those already in kdramaland. Liking something new isn't a crime . Thank you for bowing out.
PS : Those who love to pick on things are also human beings and that's how they're. They enjoy watching something without plot holes and we have no right to judge for who they're just because we don't like how they view things. Being respectable and humble is true peace.
Love and Redemption has a solid plot and romance wasn't the focus unlike Ashes of love. I had to witness female god of war, character development of Xufeng and I saw countless handsome men there. So I pretty much enjoyed love and redemption than Ashes of Love. I even rewatched it twice.
It's because I love the actor Cheng Yi. I liked him in love and redemption. So that's why and I didn't say I don't romance. I love romance if there's a reason and when it's not the focus of the story.
You're very wrong, it's not true that people who watch romance based dramas, don't enjoy political dramas or crime thriller or people who watch BL series don't enjoy straight dramas. Personality has nothing to do with what people want to watch. For some people, all it would take would be curiosity and would end up enjoying certain series. As for my case, it wasn't personality which made me switch from Hollywood to Asian dramas. It was curiosity. So I ended up loving Asian dramas and again it wasn't personality which made me switch from Kdramas and visit Chinese Wuxia. So don't judge people that they watch a certain genre based on personality alone. So instead of judging of whether Avenue X and myself have same tastes, it would be constructive and enjoyable if people who have already watched the drama would tip me off on certain elements. Go See my watchlist. You will see all kinds of genres though I take romance dramas as light drams.
So there's some kind of plot like in love and redemption. I loved love and redemption beacuse it had those typical sects and artifacts. Let me ask you. Are those artifacts being kept in martial sects?
Don't insult people just because they don't like what you love. That's being childish. It would be mature if people respect other people's opinions. If my comments offend you in anyway, ignoring them would be better than judging if am sour. Everyone has their own tastes of dramas and I had honestly put this drama on my plan to watch list. So asking to be convinced and to not make the same mistake isn't offending anyone. I don't see why you would call someone a sourpuss. Let's be classy and avoid fanwars. Btw, following some one on who is a native Chinese and who knows more than me who is an international fan isn't having the same taste, there are dramas she likes that I don't. Thank you
I would like romance where characters have reason to fall in love but I hate dramas like Ashes of love, where leads just fall in love, celestial beings behaving like mortals, leads fighting for their love. Like having no plot so to speak. I don't want to watch such on my screen despite the stunning costumes.
Y'all are really missing it. Obviously it's definitely not the way you think unless you have read spoilers already.…
They tried to pull that Dexter kind of thing which put me off totally ( The reason I abandoned Hollywood movies) To me it was the most boring crime thriller drama to date. I even on put it on hold. Not my cup of tea
I just don't want to waste my time. I'm more of a heavy plot drama watcher than silly romance watcher. I don't want to repeat the mistake ma de with Ashes of Love. most people here love romance based dramas which aren't my cup of tea. So I guess I will take years to watch this. I already got a bad review from Avenue X about this drama. So I'm skeptical. Thanks anyway
Is there something different this time which makes it unique from other silly Xianxia dramas? If it's better than love and redemption, then may Igive it a chance but I'm not ready to sit for many episodes sans plot

To me it seemed like some villain who came to terms to know his mistakes like most kdrama villains are. Thanks to some unrealistic brain surgery. It would have been thrilling if he didn't change one bit up to the end.
