If you knew I read the novel, why do you think I asked questions out of ignorance of the content of the story?! I asked questions in argumentative way because you came proving that what I said was wrong while writing your comments openly without spoil tagging them .

Ofcourse I made it an issue because it has reached a point where it's nolonger a discussion but one proving their points are correct. I simply explained why the gender was swapped. All people who read the first 97 chapters know why it was made. It's not just an opinion but the fact is written in the novel. Why so ?Readers will find out . It's not a mysterious reason why they changed the gender but we all know why. No need to go into details . It was irking me to be honest. I know everything about 2ha. Let's leave it at that. No need to answer questions after all, I'm the one who did the explaining as to why the gender was swapped. You chimed in as if what I was saying was wrong which resulted in to you spoiling the whole thing for the future readers. I don't want anyone to spoil the fun for the future readers to prove their point that they know more than others. It was irking me to be honest.

As a person who read this novel twice, your explanation was unnecessary. Instead it's acting as a spoiler in this thread which ofcourse irritated me. This wasn't Q and A session as you're implying but an argument which isn't going anywhere. I know how the flower affected Moran but even after all that, Moran still regarded Shimei as special. He didn't put Shimei and Xue Meng in the same circle. I respect your opinion but it was unnecessary because the answer was simple of whether Moran and Shimei were just more than Shixiong and Shidi.

PS : nobody is arguing Moran and Chu Wanning aren't the main couple but the first 97 chapters clearly show why Shimei's gender wa swapped.

You're re-explaining the novel which is not necessary because I read it twice. The point here is did Moran have feelings for Shimei or not?! If Chu Fei did help, he would have changed way before the heavenly rift. Why after the heavenly rift?! Ofcourse Moran couldn't become Taxian Jun the second time because of the altered flower which is why I said the flower was partially responsible in the second Life.
Moran did help anyone in need but it was different for Shimei. Shimei wasn't anyone in Moran's eyes. Moran became a better person after knowing the truth behind the heavenly rift and the Wontons. It wasn't the flower which was
lessened by Chu Fei only. People who read the book and understood it know why Shimei was changed into a female in the drama. Let's give a chance to future readers to find out themselves if Moran had feelings for Shimei or not in the first 97 chapters.

If you say Moran never had feelings for Shimei. What made the drama crew to change Shimei's gender? And what made Moran love Chu Wanning again if the flower was in effect till the end as you say?!

For me I say the flower was partially responsible for Moran to become what he became in the second Life but Moran himself played a part to make a fate for himself too and the author never excused Moran for whatever he did just because the flower had effect on him. That's your own understanding and your opinion.

Moran's lack of love in his childhood played a part psychologically. Even if Chu Wanning saved him both times which we all know but after he knew the truth, he still didn't know what romantic love was. He was still treating Shizhun as his master although something had changed somehow. He thought what he felt for Shimei was love since he was the only one there for him. Chu Fei lessened the effect of the flower even before the first heavenly rift, why do you think Moran didn't change even the slightest untill the first heavenly rift ?! Why do you think he fought to protect Shimei till the end?! He would have chose not to love Chu Wanning. After all the flower was in effect even after five years. Right?!

Any way my point wasn't what made Moran have affectionate feelings towards Shimei but did he have feelings for Shimei or not ?! The drama crew would have chosen not to change the gender after all the ML had nothing to do with Shimei but he did and on an emotional level. That's why I said in my previous comments that their relationship was vague and one sided. The readers will know what made Moran what he was and what changed him for the better and why didn't the author excuse him for whatever reason although he wasn't entirely responsible.

I know Moran hated Chu Wanning both life times because of the flower since Chu Fei altered it half way through but he still mistook whatever Shimei was doing for him as love and kindness and that's how their bond started and he was the second most important person to Moran after his mother even after the first heavenly rift. I doubt the flower would have worked even after the first heavenly rift. So in short Moran initially had romantic feelings for Shimei. He didn't even realise his feelings for his Shizhun.

Also during the butterfly town and lake illusions, those illusions showed the affected person the people whom they had romantic feelings for. It wasn't purely the flower. I know the flower is the main plot of the story but as far as I know, it created hatred not love. So I believe Moran shifted the love he had for his Shizhun to Shimei due to the kindness Shimei showed him.

I'm not writing this in support of Shimei but according to my understanding of the book. That's why I answered the question of the other person asking themselves why in the world did they change Shimei's gender when he's not the love interest of Moran.

Ofcourse in the last empress the girlfriend would have recognised his voice but as I said it's a Makjang drama, it was for dramatic effect that she didn't recognise it untill the last moment. Ofcourse this drama will never write unrealistic tropes but in most criminal dramas I
have watched, there's always a lead character who has some ability.

In all four dramas I have watched, some lead characters read memories, some have superhuman memory, so Kang centre's hearing ability is some how realistic compared to memory scanning. Another OP who is a doctor said people can survive gunshots. So it's not so unrealistic to bring him back if they pull it off properly. You said I should get over it but I think it would be good to respect each other's opinions than telling others to get over it. It's not a crime to like a character or having hope to see the actor again in another season and I believe I'm not the only one. Still, am okay with it if they bring Derek with Jang Hyuk. My essays may not be deep to you but it's my opinion not a debate.

Moran ofcourse fell in love with Chu Wanning at first sight but he didn't go the peak beacuse of Chu Wanning. Shimei took advantage of that but I don't think it was because of the flower in the second Life, since second Life started when Moran was already at the peak and the flower was already altered. After the punishment on the sin and virtue platform, Moran never went to brothels. That only meant Chu Fei had already altered the flower in Moran's second life. I remember Chu Wanning altered the flower when Moran was in a certain brothel. So how come the flower was in him even after he stopped going to brothels?!

After the heavenly rift, still Moran didn't care about Chu Wanning untill he knew the truth behind his Shizhun's death and the Wontons. If he had the flower in him, he would have chosen not to believe so, but since the flower was altered already, he started to rethink his choices and he had to do everything to repay and revive Chu Wanning.

I remember the flower was altered way before even the butterfly town arc. I doubt the flower was in effect in him even during the lake arc.

Ofcourse we know Shimei didn't love Moran and all he cared about was revenge with Hua Binan but in Moran's perspective, he thought the feelings were mutual. That's why he was surprised when his Shizhun opened the box.

Even after Moran knew the whole truth, he wasn't sure if he really has feelings for Chu Wanning untill the village arc. My point here is, Moran had romantic feelings for Shimei untill the first heavenly rift. If he didn't have those feelings, there was no reason for the drama to change his gender to begin with.

Moran was this kind of character who cared or more so who had romantic feelings with someone who would care for him on an emotional level like Shimei since he didn't receive love in his childhood. So he confused care, admiration and love all at once. He put Shimei on a pedestal and he believed he shouldn't touch or sleep with him without his consent. He believed he shouldn't be tainted in any way sexually.

True Shimei manipulated some parts but after he was whipped by his Shizhun, the only person who cared for him was Shimei.

And for the flower in the second timeline didn't have much effect since Chu Wanning of the past timeline had remedied it somehow. So the attraction towards Shimei wasn't due to the flower
only. This can be proven on heartpluck technique during the hourglass arc where Moran saw Shimei saving him from that hourglass thing in the lake and after the chaos, he grabbed Shimei's hand. Another instance was when Moran was tasting who Shimei liked with how new divine weapon. Chu Wanning had to witness all that.

About the box of the ever yearning, it was about mutual romantic feelings but Moran believed Shimei would open it since he believed Shimei loved him and vice versa. Moran joined the peak because some guy replaced him with the real young master of the peak. He didn't even know Chu Wanning was there untill he fell in love at first sight when he was choosing his Shizhun

I don't want to spoil you but your hunches are spot on. I didn't even realize any of it untill I read it myself.

It's ridiculous how a 300+ chapters book has an adaptation of 40 episodes. Then what about eternal faith which has 60 episodes and yet it's source material is shorter than 2ha ? At this point, I won't have high expectations. It's so unfair to the crew who gave their all for this series.

I guess you've forgotten what kind of writer Kim Soon Ok is. She writes only Makjang based dramas. Do you expect logic in Makjang genre dramas?! If the body wasn't shown in penthouse, that only meant that person is alive. All the dead bodies shown in penthouse were actually dead characters however this a thriller drama not a Makjang drama, so people expect some degree of logic here but since they didn't show Team leader Do's funeral like other officers, there's an open possibility that team leader actually didn't die. People do survive gun shots and it's very possible to loose weight if good efforts are put in. Human life is unpredictable. Even Bang Je Soo survived a fall from a cliff. If not, it would be better to bring Jang Hyuk back.
