Finally I caught up to episode 18.
So many things happened in the last episodes. Almost all events before episode 14/15 became blurred shapes, and Sun Woo/Ah Ro moments became a pain to watch. Not only because I am all for Ji Dwi/Ah Ro, but because the actress is forced to act slightly obsessive because of "orabeoni" in some episodes. Neither I hate Ah Ro nor Sun Woo, however, I have the feeling of them being forced into romance. Honestly, it would have been better for them not to get romantically involved but create solid friendship and go through character development separately united – if you know what I mean. I think that Sun Woo would have protected Ah Ro even as a friend with everything he has since he is very loyal.
Probably going to hell for saying this, but I liked Crown Prince Chang. The actor did a good job. I liked the episodes 14 and 15 the most, the Crown Prince and all the confrontations in Baekje were a breath of fresh air.
Ji Dwi watching Sun Woo and Ah Ro kiss tore nearly my heart apart, while Soo Yeon and Ban Ryu were too cute. Ban Ryu’s emotions seem so real, it is amazing indeed, and one can almost assume he fell in love with Lee Da In for real. lel, jk He has a very bright smile, and I wish BR/SY will be accepted and blessed as a couple at the end of the series.
Han Sung’s death made me cry like a baby, but I like Dan Se as a character. Cannot tell exactly why, I guess he is a likeable guy as a whole. Too bad the boys’ parents force them to do horrible things.
The Queen is too cruel for making Ah Ro a Wonhwa. I think Ah Ro will survive somehow, though. She cannot die.
Ji Dwi approaching his mother/the throne and revealing himself as the King impressed me, the way he slowly walked past the officials was pretty badass. Finally he left his cage, I nearly started to get a bit upset because of the whole coward-talk. Sun Woo/Mo Myung being the son of a Sacred Bone makes Ji Dwi and Sun Woo rivals... *sigh* They aren't meant to be friends I guess. But who knows, maybe I will be surprised by the developers.
There are only two episodes left, but somehow it feels like the whole series just started, so I'm on tenterhooks.
I’m a bit addicted to this. Started watching Hwarang because of the history part I guess, and have become more and more interested in Ji Dwi’s fate. Apart from Ban Ryu, who is quite adorable, Ji Dwi/the King is my favourite character. Both of them are rather complex beings, at least from what I can tell.
I have only watched ten episodes so far, and even though Ji Dwi kissed Ah Ro first, I think she will end up with Sun Woo. I really wish, though, Ah Ro would return Ji Dwi’s feelings. There are things that I dislike about Ah Ro, but alltogether she is likeable, and, gosh, look how much the King is into her and how many precious moments they shared together. Nothing wrong with Sun Woo as a character, I’m interested in his personal development, but I do not feel the couple at all.
Enjoyed this one a lot, actually.
Though I wish it had a few more episodes for greater development (not only the main characters) and explanation. Nonetheless this is a very a good drama series.
I really wanted to like this because I was overwhelmed by the costumes and the make up, the colours, the beautiful faces, and the story. However, I dropped this drama because some scenes' nonexistent logic was too much for me to bear. I do not ask for total realism and I'm aware of the fact that this still is a drama, but there were things that irked me on an higher level.
After I stopped watching this, I only read that how good this drama is :') Should I give it a second try?
If I were you, I would give this drama another try! To me, it's a great drama and has lots of funny/silly/romantic scenes, but also elements of suspense.
I really, really love this drama. At this point, I'm more interested in the lost brother plot and Hyeon Woo/Jeong Eun, but I find Seong Joon/Dong Hee likeable as well. I have to admit, though, some scenes are challenging to watch since I dislike a lot of characters. I know they should act the way they do, but I can’t stand Mi Joo (I think you know why), Hee Sok (dear God, her son almost committed suicide because of her!), her husband (he behaves like a toddler) and the annoying, naive Matriarch whom I dislike the most (falls for Hee Sok’s tricks/always nags at Hye Joo/wants to marry off Seong Joon to Mi Joo badly/somewhat threatens poor Dong Hee/and so on). Maybe some/all of them will change their attitude a bit in the future. That would be great character development. I can’t wait for the next episodes to be aired. At the same time I’m kind of scared because... well. I hope they won't turn the last episodes into fillers or something, because right now it's 10/10 since the acting is good and I consider the plots to be very interesting.
