Note to self: sometimes it's better to read the comments before watching and get spoilers instead of getting a heartbreak at the end and cry for 2 hours.... πππ
I want to share my thoughts on Fu Yong Jie. I'm not defending him, the dude has obviously a lot of issues. However,…
Also, Yong Jie reminds me of the main male character from the k-drama Cheese in the Trap. They are so similar in the way that they get fixated on one person, they show their true selves only to them, and they are cold distant and revengeful over others who either try to take advantage of them or their loved ones.
I want to share my thoughts on Fu Yong Jie. I'm not defending him, the dude has obviously a lot of issues. However, there are people like him who get overly fixated on something or someone for either a long time or for the rest of their lives. He is very gifted on the academic level, studies everything thoroughly, has a very sharp logical mind, but these people tend to lack a lot in the emotional compartment. I'm not even sure he is able to feel more types of love, his ability to express emotions is close to zero because he is used to solving problems in a cold logical way. He has zero patience unless that patience contributes to a better result overall. He would be the perfect type of character who becomes a serial killer, kidnapper or at least a solid creepy stalker which he kind of was already. I think he was lucky to have his mom from whom he got his good intended mind from, and Xing Si who was too nice for his own good and who probably kept Yong Jie's heart warm enough not to become a total creep. But, because of the childhood trauma and the fact that he only relied on himself, he grew up with a huge gap between his deep feelings and how he acted based on them. I'm not impressed at all of how the story went between them two, I wish there was more development on both sides because one is hella charismatic and the other one is as dry as a wall, and no real issues were actually solved between them, instead the story focused on the family's acceptance of them. I would've liked to see Yong Jie becoming more "human", if not through therapy, at least them influencing eachother's behaviors through a series of events. (And, yes, I've intentionally left out the step brothers issue as it has been discussed enough in previous comments here)
I was actually surprised of how good this was. For anyone who wants to see many kisses and intimacy, this isn't that type of story. However, I loved how the story went for all couples, even if it was a bit slow. My fave characters were Pai and Pure because they were consistent and their development felt sturdy. My favourite moment was when Pai's parents asked a specialist (a psychologist I guess) about this situation because they wanted to understand their son and his choice of partner.
I'm on ep 4 and I cannot stand Pete and his spoiled brat attitude and jealousy π... Does he get better?
I haven't watched the prequels, and honestly I don't know if I want to see more of this type of behaviour. Can someone tell me if I should watch the prequels too? I will definitely finish this one because I love Sun & Mork.
Loved this series. The pace was maybe slower than other series (depending on what the watcher expects), but what I really appreciated is that none of the characters suddenly turned 180 degrees when they realised their feelings, and that they've kept their personality traits wothout becoming a romantic mush.
During the pauses between scenes I've noticed there is a drawing of a 3rd couple, but that didn't happen unfortunately. However, I can't complain, I got sweet cute secret love come to fruition AND a player with a tsundere guy π€ Gotta say the second couple kind of made me more excited, but that might be only my preference.
Also, the OST... I could listen to it all day long and not get tired of it.
This was cute AF π³π₯Ίπ I've watched it because I've only seen her play in secondary or minor roles, and I've loved to see her as a main character π Will try other dramas where she is main π
I've seen people here saying that the main couple is boring. I can't disagree, but I do see what their initial intention was with Sun's character. For someone who has read a fair share of yaoi manga, I was able to complete in my mind the missing pieces that would have made their story line more spicy and exciting. It wasn't bad enough not to leave space for imagination, so I'm not complaining.
Gosh the hype and expectations for this drama are so high... I really really hope they'll deliver everything we wish for. I really don't care how much is delayed if it's as good as it seems.
I loved Ai's character, she was brilliant, fun, full of energy, she was PERFECT. However, the level of chemistry between her and Sousuke wasn't good enough for how good she was.
When the news of Nubsib and Gene's relationship got public, I was expecting Aey to wash away the mistakes he did intil then and be mature about it. I liked the chemistry he had with Mhok and I really thought they would go tell the public they are a couple too, so the other two don't have to carry the immense responsibility. I was really looking forward to a happy ending for these two too.
I loved the butterfly symbolism. When I started watching this series, the story was making no sense to me, but after watching it, it practically gave out all vital information.
From my pov, the butterflies she was ripping appart were those in her mother's brooch, she wanted to get freedom from the connectione between mom butterfly and baby butterfly. At the same time, she was aware of the "monster" image that her dad has projected on her, during her childhood, because of her mother's actions. Therefore, to the person who came to confess romantic feelings to her, she was completely honest in her action of ripping butterflies appart. She has metaphorically shown her own essence to the boy who came to tell her he loved her.
Brilliant!!!
Also, although I have no real knowledge about autistic behavior in adults, I do love how the autistic brother was portrayed in the first half... in the second half I feel they kind of romanticised the autism behavior.

I have patience for anything that's good π
