i don't know why people are writing negative comments. It's superb drama guys.??
Agreed!!! I loved it so much.

Watched 3 episodes so far and I must say FL is by far the most female character woman I ever saw in any drama.…
I wholeheartedly disagree with you and by the end of the drama the FL is one of my favorites. To each their own I guess, but just be aware that it's triggering for many of us when you write that you're glad when a female character gets slapped by a male character. Getting slapped in the face is violent, humiliating, and uncalled for.

I think the ML is the most SELFISH BASTARD I've ever seen. Even with his condition. He should be lucky his father…
Hmm, he wasn't actually a selfish bastard at all, he had very good reasons for all of your complaints here. And you liked that he was humiliated because of his stage fright? Wow, that's....unbelievable. Did you actually watch the whole thing? The ML had some significant issues with his upbringing which caused him to be almost pathologically shy and scared of attention. I'm not sure what else to say if instead of feeling sorry for him and rooting for him to recover, you're glad he got humiliated in public.

Does Du Lei’s sister like him or something?! Because she was saying he was afraid of the dark when he was younger…
Have you answered your own question by now?

she's indeed in the longer list https://kisskh.at/list/b1zwaoVL
Sorry! And I even read the longer list! LOL. (For some reason it didn't stick in my mind.)

The OST almost made me drop the whole drama!!
Agreed!! There was no need, honestly, to play the same three or four songs every five minutes. It was better when I muted the sound and just read the subtitles.

I would add Kim Bok Joo from Weightlifting Fairy. Not only is she physically strong, but she's quirky, funny, loyal to her friends, and fiercely independent and driven even when she starts dating. There were some issues with how her character is physically portrayed, to be sure, (padding a very thin actor with extra large clothes to make her seem like she could actually lift those weights), but I had very few complaints with her character and its development throughout the drama.

I wanted to write exactly what you expressed but I see that your comment sparkled a very interesting conversation,…
Feel free to add to our conversation! :-)

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed them! "The Visual Mastery of Come and Hug Me" while it's technically an analysis…
You know, I hadn't thought of that possibility, but I will definitely think about it now. Thank you for the idea, and the encouragement. If you need any help with either of your upcoming articles, let me know.

John Mayer's flunkies were Australians with Australian accents
Yes, exactly, and I agree with you. (I've also heard the U.S. doesn't want to be part of the ICC because we want to be able to execute minors who commit crimes....which is repellent to me, but this is off topic a bit....)
It does also make me wonder how folks who play international characters in Western media are portrayed - how often are their accents completely wrong, or speaking the wrong language even? I'm sure we're not much better than k-dramas, and we should all strive to be.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed them! "The Visual Mastery of Come and Hug Me" while it's technically an analysis…
Ok, well, now you've convinced me to read your article first before finishing C&HM. :-)
And I eagerly await your article on what sounds like will be about the differences in perception of the leads, based on gender. These are very important topics and can lead to some heated comment sections. I'm speaking from personal experience here (from the Not Your Average Female Lead article, which I loved, btw, but I had an interesting exchange with a male Community Manager.) I'm excited to see what you come up with.
I also look forward to your common motifs within K-dramas article, which is also an interest of mine. I do some unofficial research 'IRL' on the fantasy and science fiction genres (mostly from BIPOC authors from Western countries) and the symbolism present in those works. I'm a huge fan of the fantasy genre within K-dramas - especially how the theme of the redemption of a past life through a current life plays out in different dramas, as well as the different ways the Grim Reaper character is portrayed.
Thanks for your contribution here.

I have that article "bookmarked" to read later because I'm in the middle of Come and Hug Me right now. I haven't read your article yet because I didn't know if it had spoilers or not but I definitely want to read it! If it doesn't lose any steam between now and the end, it will end up on my top ten dramas (and maybe top five) for sure. It's just stunningly beautiful.
I'm almost finished with Hotel Del Luna as well (I watch a few dramas at a time) and I've noticed that the color palettes chosen - of the set design, the costumes, the cinematography - all feel quite different than other dramas I've watched. They feel warm to me, with lots of different blue hues and I'm curious for your opinion of the coloring they chose. (Just FYI, it will probably also go on my top five list - that's how much I have loved HDL so far.)

While I read many of the articles published on MDL, and learn something from each one, (including this helpful one we're commenting on) I very much appreciated your articles because they were so different than the latest "which k-drama trope should we get rid of" - which, by the way, I read every one of as well. But I do wish we would see more articles like yours here - serious and intellectual, educational and yet fun at the same time. I appreciated the technical aspects of the article and how knowledgeable you were about the topics. So no disrespect to any other MDL authors out there, (because we all need some light reading, especially this year), but I really appreciate your voice and hope that you continue writing.

Yes. The female lead is really cute. She can be embarrassing too though lol. On a side note: I think your comment…
I recall that conversation quite differently, but whatever.
You said: "Seriously, I don't want to keep this conversation going" ....and yet you keep going.
