Hang on, it seems like there’s a double standard here. When a male lead has several women interested in him, it’s often accepted without much criticism. But when a female lead has multiple men pursuing her, it’s judged differently. Instead of focusing on whether it’s a male or female lead, we should look at how the story is written and if the relationships are developed well. If the story has changed from 5 guys to 2 guys, it will be because of trying to simplify the narrative into a short space, and still maintain ia clear storyline without overcrowding the plot. By the way, I think that it is great that they are presenting women in a more mature way (albeit her voice is quite high). Plus, it’s refreshing to see female leads having the freedom to choose or reject relationships without being portrayed as weak or indecisive.

I can only imagine that during the time of concubines, they would all have been vying for their husband's attention, even if his behaviour showed weakness by favouring one wife with affection. However, he bullies the ML to make himself feel powerful.
