One thing about tharntype is no matter all the problematic stuff and all the hate that it gets today and even in the future, we have to give it the credit for paving the way for far more progressive and healthy BLs that we see being made today. It became so popular and so much hated at the same time that whenever something bad and problematic happens in the bl world, bl watchers allude to it because almost everyone who watches BLs have at least watched tharntype once. Tharntype feels like an ancient piece placed in a separate dark room in a bl museum which people want to hide from the world cause it brings bad luck and has a troubled past but its influence in the bl world is undeniable and people can’t help but make references to. There are so many mewgulf stans still today and while I cannot say for every single one what their opinion on the problematic part of the show is, their number is a testimony to the influence it has had. Mew has become an artist who has gone kinda international and makes kid bop music. Gulf is also advancing in singing career. Both of them get huge brand deals. People still hate on them a lot but I also see many stans who still support them. This drama has still maintained an 8 rating on MDL which is a better score than many other BLs inspite of truckloads of hate it get every single day. See I’m not trying to defend this drama at all and it deserves all the hate that it gets but it’s like if all that problematic areas could have been erased by any means, this wouldve likely never gotten all that hate and become one of most likable drama very ironically. I’ve heard from some of the defenders of this show who opine that this show is often mistaken for glorifying or saying okay to the problematic stuff when it’s actually trying to bring up the issue in terms of realism. It’s like the past which we condemn and want to forget but we should remember that no matter how much we do that, present and future are only a becoming of the past so instead of hating on it, we should just let it be and move on towards better future while learning from it because the past is already done and cannot be reversed. The chemistry is insane. Both the lead actors are so pretty I cannot. I haven’t felt this tingling in my body for many bl couples and this one did that aahhh. So much happened in the first episode. I’m trying to like this series but much of what I remember from the first episode is win screaming and shouting (a bit excessively) at his family and korn while they just passively let him throw his tantrums at them. It’s kinda gave brokeback mountain when they were looking after the farm animals in their farm wear in the countryside. Also that yellowish filter isn’t helping coz when I watch it at night, it’s making me sleepy lol.
But there has been so many bls from Japan or Korea or Taiwan which aren’t available on YouTube and some of them we had to wait for 3-4 days for correct English subtitles so just because now suddenly gmmtv has decided to do this, it’s very unfair to give it a low rating just because of that. Gmmtv has been uploading quality BLs and shows “for free” for so long now. So now it’s only understandable they want to expand their biz and try other platforms. Gmmtv made a deal and I suppose going by some of the cons of that deal, they won’t be able to upload it immediately. But they did say that they stil would upload it soon. See I’m not taking the side of a company here. I dislike gmmtv for various reasons as well but there are somethings that should be seen in a more realistic and logical way and not just from your crazy bl Stan eye. Like tweeting under various gmmtv artists and low-key harassing them when they don’t even have anything to do with it or have the power to do anything is really bottom tier behaviour.
