The mother's character changed entirely and that's not realistic at allif she was real person she would approve…
I am glad my Chinese Mom didn't act like overbearing Chinese mothers. I think it was because she was busy dealing with my Dad who could be overbearing at times. My family was dysfunctional, nonetheless. My parents were also from dysfunctional families.
Director and Producer must have been pushing that song, ...I love you, I love you.., for Song of the Year Award.…
In the old days of K-drama watching, I used to break down and sob during the heartwrenching performances. The music didn't drown out their acting. The C-dramas have so much loud singing or loud BGM overlaying the crying, sad, dying scenes, that my brain starts to focus on the music and lyrics, and I don't feel the anguish that the actor is acting.
Did anyone notice that Chen Le would run into the scene, to Yunshen, like he was a jack rabbit. Doesn't he know how to walk like normal workers. I see the trend in the costume drama where the servant/assistant runs into the scene to the ML Master.
He was sticking to Yunshen like a fly on flypaper, acting like a nanny nursemaid 90% of the time. When Yunshen told him to go, he would not budge. He was clinging to Yunshen, like Mother Jiang. He looked cute all the time, but I would have slapped him when he did not listen.
Chen Le gets Best Employee of the Year Award. Cheng Huan, Xi Zhou's assistant, gets Worst Employee of the Year Award. She always looked haunted, and did underhanded things, and always had a smug look on her face.
I know FYS is finally done with family problems, so he can go country M too.but my first thought is, ISNT IT NOT…
The writer forgot about it in the final episodes. Even the Jack Rabbit Assistant refused to leave him in the hospital, and didn't put the mask on when the doctor handed it to him. He said he was healthy, and could not get sick. That was not the point of the mask. He could have contaminated Yun Shen, not the other way around.

Mother Jiang was obsessed with her son, since she didn't have a husband around her. She hated Zhi Jiu and was jealous of her because Zhi Jiu would interrupt her relationship with Yunshen. Mother approved of Zhi Zhi only because she knew she could manipulate her if she was the daughter-in-law. Mother would be calling Yunshen every minute of the day, and he would have to run home to her. She never cut the umbilical cord when Yunshen was born.
They even "stole" the baby daughter that was supposed to Fu YunShen and Zhu Jiu's ππIve never felt so cheated…
All he did was spit venom and malice, and dress nicely in expensive business suits and overcoat. LOL Every time he grabbed Ruan Ruan's arm, I cringed. It looked like subtle physical abuse.

The five year jump was just a BTW closure ending. Did it take five years to sell Grandma's house, and Yunshen to propose to Zhu Jiu? I thought Grandma's daughter owned the house since Zhu Jiu gave her the paperwork. I guess it took five years for Zhu Jiu to become a medical lecturer, and the Danmin vaccine to be invented.
I have no empathy for Fu Xi Zhou, and I feel very sorry for Ruan Ruan. A leopard does not change its spots. He will change back into his conniving, manipulative self, and neglect his children and wife.
It was painstaking watching the main characters being tortured emotionally or physically for thirty-nine episodes. I am just relieved that it is over, and that the characters are out of sight, out of mind. I did not drop the drama because of the leads, Cheng Yi and Zhang Yu Xi. They kept the drama flowing, even when it dragged with the singing and evilness on screen. Cheng Yi is the official Melodrama King. Yunshen suffered physically and emotionally, and/or cried in two-thirds of the drama, Fu Yunshen would have lived a happy life with a different mother. Zhang Yu Xi is Main Lead Queen of the Month. Zhu Jiu put up with a lot of sh^& from Mother Jiang Shu Ning.
Final rating: 8, with deductions for the singing and the pathetic villains and their evilness
This should be labeled as a musical melodrama. The singing was extraneous, overt and repetitive. If the director wanted so much singing, he should have given the songs to the characters to sing in the scenes, instead of using phantom singers. Otherwise the BGM was very good.
It was no surprise that the two pathetic villains, Fu Xi Zhou and Jiang Shu Ning, had their redemption at the end. They were unscrupulous, vindictive, manipulative. They should have died instead of the nicer people, Grandpa, Dr Ji, Aunty Dr Addy, Grandma, Zhu Jiu's Mother and Father. I was cringing when Ruan Ruan and Xi Zhou reunited at the end, and had babies.
The singing diluted the emotion on screen. If they had trimmed the singing and some of the episodic content, it would have been effective as 30 episode drama.
This drama reminds me of the Kdramas with the drama plot and incessant singing and the song quality. In particular, Zhu Jiu and Yunshen reminded me of the Winter Sonata lead couple, Yu Jin and Joon Sang, with their emotional torture and the manipulative mothers.
