The screenwriter is juggling the forgery and the pollution storylines. It is ironic that both issues are instigated by the Wan family... Chuanjia, to be precise. With only five episodes to go, they need to wrap up both storylines fast.

I think they look down on Xiuyu because she is a female. They thought she was a failure for the last ten years, because she failed to enter university, and she failed to take the accounting exam twice.

If she had moved out, the mother would be living alone in the house. She felt that she had a home for the rest of her life. The mother had granted her the power of attorney twenty-five years ago. The 1st child(male) and the last child (female) convinced the mother to transfer the power of attorney to them, about fifteen years ago. The mother started having dementia around that time, and had full Alzheimers six years ago.

When she was at his house, it was ironic that he brought food to her, as if eating would make her feel better. He is very insensitive. The mother also brings all her favorite foods for her to eat, at the inn. Food is not the cure all, People!

The mother has been in a nursing home with Alzheimers, for six years, in Toronto. A very sad story!

I agree with you. We have to remember that the way of life in China is different from the way of life in North America or Europe. While the drama timeline is in the 21st century, when the major cities in China might have had rapid advancements, the villages were left behind.

Wanji Corporation office building looks out of place in the village. It looks more like an office building in Beijing or Shanghai. If Mr Wan built it, he must be a multimillionaire.

I worked in Los Angeles in a 30-storey building. None of our executive offices looked as lavish as Mr Wan and Chuanjia's offices.

It sounds like this was Xiuyu's second attempt to take the exam, and the first time, she was also rejected.

The only thing that an education provides is the ability to get a job with a better wage. It doesn't mean that the person can perform the job tasks effectively. A person without university credentials, would be denied employment at many companies, and have to take a menial job, at low pay.

This story is well crafted, that it evokes reactions and emotions from the viewers. It does not have drama loopholes, to some degree. It depicts the upper class manipulating the lower class, and tossing peanuts at them. Chuanjia must be pissed that the Wans paid off 700,000 yuan ($103,000 USD) to the Wangs. Guan Tao said that the 300,000 yuan was more than generous compensation for Chaunmei's crime, so the law would not compensate Xiuyu any more money.

Guan Tao said that the agreement is invalid because of the penalty clause. They need to address this illegal document in the court of law, and Xingyun has be admonished for drafting the document. The penalty is coercive and threatening.
