I really want to like this show since it seemed interesting at first and it is long which is a plus. But so far…
Trim the drama by 25 episodes (25*60 minutes), remove all the filler and flashback. Reshoot the final scene, so Gi Tan and Soo Yoon, kiss and make up. Let Gun Woo live. Kill Byun Il Jae, Kwang Woo, Mrs Chairman, and Vampire Lady with purple lipstick. Elevate Jung Bo Suk to the star of the drama. Rename the drama, Monster Jung.
So far watched 24 episodes and I'm hating Byun Il Jae so much. I can't believe how evil this character is. I thought…
2016 had a harvest of evil, despicable villains. The actors are the most skilled K-drama actors, to pull off these roles.
In order of appearance; Nam Gyu Man of Remember, was Master Evil Kim Gil Do of Master God of Noodles, was Master More Evil. Byun Il Jae of Monster, was Master Most Evil. Hong Joo of Mirror of the Witch, was Mistress Evil. Choi Yoo Jin of K2, was Mistress More Evil and Mistress Most Evil.
A production company should cast the five actors and actresses in one drama, and make them all EVIL villains who kill off each other. I loved Jung Bo Suk, but I could not bear to see him on screen in Monster, after five episodes. I loved Song Yoon Ah, but I could not bear to see her on screen in K2, after one episode. Now I will never watch the actors in future dramas.
Still looking for a revenge plot where there is actually a revenge. Basically all I see is: 1) a main character…
I agree with your points. I assumed that Monster really referred to Byun Il Jae, played by Jung Bo Suk, who was really the star of the show, and should have been given that distinction. He is the most skilled actor in the entire cast, and was thoroughly convincing as the despicable villain, who was relentless and evil.
The casting of this drama is screw up, age difference is so much different but they make him transform older than…
The characters' aging process did not make sense. I liked the two actors who played the lead male and female characters. The drama was tailored to Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yu Ri, otherwise, there was no reason why the two younger actors could not have continued the drama. The main male character, Kang Gi Tan went from 19 years, 5' 7 to 30 years, 6'3. Men usually stop growing at 20, but Gi Tan sprouted 8 inches. The growth spurt is usually in the teenage years. Not a very convincing switchover of actors! The young actor was 26 years old, and the older actor was 37.
These two together again? Ooh, I might just watch this. My only qualm is that Korean dramas with 30+ episodes…
Yes, snoozy in the middle! The first 20+ episodes flow, but after Sung Yuri returns as a lawyer, it turns into K-melodrama, for another twenty episodes. It starts to pick up the pace in the final stretch. I marathon-watched the first 20 episodes. Waiting for the weekly dose of 2 episodes was a killjoy, more so when the plot dragged and went around in circles. When is a villain not a villain? The worse time, was when the drama was preempted for two weeks by the Olympics, which meant the finale was preempted for two weeks.
Like you, I grimaced at the 58 episode length. I delayed watching it for a week. Once I started, I was sucked into Peach Blossom Valley and the other worlds. Since it ended, I cannot concentrate on any C-drama or K-drama.
I was just scrolling down the page and I've got to say, I'm surprised by the lack of any negative comments.…
I agree with you, on all points. I hesitated for a week to start this drama, but after I marathon-watched the first ten episodes, I was waiting every day for subbed episodes to post online. Since it ended, I just can't seem to get back into the K-drama mood, and I have two K-dramas on the back-burner.
