We should thank everyone who contributed to the Comment section. I finished the drama five days ago, but I have checked the new comments daily, to get more insight into the viewers' POV. This drama was really thought provoking. "We hate them! We love them!" I don't know the final reaction to the drama in Mainland China, but it is one of the better costume dramas, and all the actors' performances were very good.
Thanks for the occasional replies to my comments. The virtual conversations were productive and constructive.
FL, Weiran and Ningfei were orphans, wondering the streets before they were captured to Death Camp. Later all…
The writer didn't specify the characters' ages, but Jin Yan told Xi Yang something... "in all my twenty years...", which is assumed he meant he is 20. I didn't think Jing Shi would ten years older. To be tortured by the baby brother would be demoralizing. Empress Jing appears to be in her mid to 30s, which is feasible if Jing Yan is 20. The whole Jinxui arc sounds very fishy and ambiguous to me. LOL

Jing Shi appears to be in his mid-20s. The death camp was founded more than a decade ago. I think he selected Yi Xiao twelve years ago. He would be a preteen when he started the death camp. If that is true, he was unhinged then.
Currently at eps 2, and nothing seems to be adding up, i wonder how they would end up failing in love they shouldn't…
I watched episode 2 two weeks ago, so I don't recall the exact details. Has she been tortured brutally by Sui Ge? At the time, I was asking myself, how will they fall in love? That amounts to physical abuse.
I know Prince Jingshi was a eunuch in novel. In the drama they showed a scene with Yi Xiao getting a marriage…
It sounds like Book Jing Shi was obsessed and desired Yi Xiao, but was frustrated that they could never share any intimacy. He was leading her on, and deluding himself. In the drama, she might have assumed it was love because he had protected her for twelve years. Didn't he promise to marry her some day? That day didn't come.
We should have seen Feng Suige and Yixiao becoming Emperor and Empress like it happened in the novel. Why the…
This book recap is more plausible than the drama plot. Jinxu kingdom is orphaned, without a ruler, and the army is leaderless. Someone mentioned Jing Yan had children, but he was only twenty years' old. His children would be little. Neighboring kingdoms can invade it. Empress Yi Xiang could potentially go off the deep end like her father, and invade Jinxiu for revenge. I wonder what Sui Ge or Yi Xiao would do in that situation.
I want to see CZY play as a demon lord so badπ₯Ή Directors pls make my wish come trueπ
He has very good on screen presence. He just needs motivation to stretch his acting range. He can take acting lessons from the brother Xia Jing Yan (Qin Tian Yu).
