Some people just read the title of the article and just scroll through photos then go straight to the comment…
Lol the best response is to kill them with kindness.
It is a little disheartening especially considering the amount of hours that go into writing an article. However, I think as a writer it stings less if you mentally prepare yourself and accept that once you hit the submit button the article is now fair game, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

1000% agree with you, like I mentioned in the article there is a plethora of female personalities in the world…
You are right, I should have been more specific in my title, although I did go more in detail in the intro about personalities and the actions the ladies in the list take. I do understand your point of view.

There has been an increase in number in females who are outspoken, with a difficult childhood/past and are fashionable. This is starting to become a standard which is true. I also agree that many of the ladies in my list fall into this category.

Idk If I would describe every the last three as fashionable though. Or the last two as having a difficult childhood/past.

To me Ma Hyeri, Song Ma Rin, Byung Hae Young, Sung Shi Won, and maybe even Chong Song Yi didnt seem cynical, but rather more cheerful. However, this could also be subjective.

1000% agree with you, like I mentioned in the article there is a plethora of female personalities in the world and there is no right way to portray a woman or a wrong way. Women are as you said multi demensional.
I do want to point out that this article is not about “Strong female leads” or “Badass female leads” or “girl crush female leads” because those discriptions to me are subjective.
Rather than a single rich girl who is outspoken I find characters who are single mothers like in when a Camilla blooms to be strong characters. But I can bet you not everyone can agree on this with me which is okay because like I said what makes someone strong can be subjective.

The article basically focuses on different and unique personalities or FL leads that do things that you normally don’t see a lot in dramas.

Like I’m IONTBO KMY is flawed and damaged as a result of her upbringing. She is impulsive, obsessive, can be violent, and has no filter. She does not think twice about physically hurting people she sees as threatening. But regardless of how psychologically damaged she is at the end of the day she is still functional and successful and kind. That’s a personality I personally haven’t seen a lot in K-dramas.

In Hotel Del Luna she is money hungry and probably trying to fill a void in her heart with materialistic goods. She is unapologetic about her spending and doesn’t simply do things because she is kind hearted. She does it knowing it will financially benefit her every single time. She is not exactly selfish but she is also not self-sacrificing or go out of her way to dedicate her time and effort to help others without Gaining something from it.
It’s just a very different personality than I am used to.

I personally like the evolution of how women are portrayed in dramas now. I want to think of it less as a trend but more as stories of different women being told and hopefully a result of more female writers becoming popular and being hired by production teams.

I completely understand, I definitely think that there should be an article on strong female leads although there are so many out there now.
365 is starting to sound more and more like my type of drama.

And speaking of Lee Seung Gi, I loved King2Hearts a lot, (like a lot), but it had the MOST ATROCIOUS "American"…
OMG not just this drama, ALOT of American people potrayed in Korean dramas are so bad at acting and their accents never sound American. More like Europeans/Canadians masking their accents. I guess Canadians can be considered American geography wise.

i think female leads from suspense thrillers like the flower of evil, 365: repeat the year and signal were much…
I can agree with that Ji Won in Flower of Evil was very strong. I never watched evil, 365 but if the female lead was anything like Ji won then it sounds like she is worth the watch. This list isnt about strong female lead its just ones with unique personalities if that helps understand the list better.
