Is it just me or do I feel like 10 episodes may not be enough to wrap everything up? Most of what is said in the synopsis hasn't even happened yet.
For Gu Jia, I see her story getting wrapped up within the next 10 episodes. I would love to see her get divorced because my blood has been boiling ever since her husband started cheating. However, I have a bad feeling that they probably won't because divorce is not as easy as it seems. I feel like she might choose to no get divorced because she doesn't want to ruin her image of a perfect family and especially because this will make it worse for her son as he grows up.
For Ni Ni, I thought the guy she was dating in the first half was definitely the one she was going to end up with. However, it does say that she does get married and realises the difference between her partner after marriage. I don't see this being wrapped up in the next 10 episodes at all unless they rush it. I really hope it's not the Zhang Zhi guy because I don't like him haha. I thought it would be her ex boyfriend because of one of the photos but they don't even contact each other anymore so not sure. Plus the recent episode makes it seem like she really will get married to Zhang Zhi because of her family situation. NOOOOOO.
For Xiao Qin, it says that her book becomes a major hit and she becomes the breadwinner of the family? But she's already divorced either way and even if they get remarried, I highly doubt they can wrap this up in 10 episodes.
The only explanation I see is them extending the drama (which I absolutely would love) or them rushing it. Please tell me if the synopsis here is not accurate, otherwise I'll go crazy trying to figure out everything haha.
I have also been in the biggest k-drama slump for quite a while, everything nowadays just doesn't feel the same. To those in similar situations, I recommend Chinese romance dramas more than anything (especially the high-school ones). Ever since I discovered them, I have not been able to go back to romantic k-dramas (with some exceptions).
Also, great article. Something that I think everyone needed.
in episode 2 (i think), she went to go surprise him at his apartment (and i'm assuming cook for him like he did…
Oh really? I must've completely missed this scene then. I don't remember it at all. I was quite confused with the jump they had on their relationship from episode 2 to 3.
I'm a bit lost as to how she broke up with her boyfriend? In episode 2 they seemed happy together and then suddenly in episode 3, she throws away the calender of him and her? Also from the preview, he seems to be with another girl. Did he possibly cheat?
As someone who has seen so many gender-benders where the guy dresses as a girl, it's so different to finally see one with the opposite. Absolutely living for Kim Soo Hyun's short hair and the drama poster. The first episode was much better than I expected it to be and hopefully I don't end up dropping it like many dramas I've watched this year.
All three dramas are based off a novel Zi You Ji Guang called the 'Gentleman' Trilogy. The first two dramas in…
Okay thanks, I think I may also give both of them a try. I have watched Ode to Joy but I left it due to its length but it was actually pretty good so I might get back to it soon.
How is it related to Mr Right and To be a Better Man?
All three dramas are based off a novel Zi You Ji Guang called the 'Gentleman' Trilogy. The first two dramas in the series were 'To be a Better Man' (2016) and 'Mr. Right' (2018). Mr. Fighting is the third and final series of this trilogy. I think all of them are separate stories though so you don't have to watch it in order.
HXL is not second lead, but the first ML that's why it's just natural that the 2 leads end up together :0)
Yeah I realised after I came back to look at the cast on MDL, but I mean he was the second lead as in he was being portrayed as the second lead. If anyone had started this drama without knowing who the leads us, they would think his actually the second lead.
Sooo glad she ends up with Xin Liang, I thought this would be the typical high school romance where she ends up with Ji Xiao. FINALLY a drama where the second lead who is always there for her gets the girl, been waiting so long for this type of drama.
When I watched the 1st Season, I stopped it half way and came back to it a couple of months later and ended up loving it. However, when I tried to watch Season 2, I ended up getting the same feeling again where I just think it wasn't the right time to watch it. Thus, for now I plan to get back to it a couple of months later. However, I really liked that the first 2 episodes included their future lives as I initially thought that it would go straight to the historical aspect of it.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR SPEAKING OUT FOR WHERE THE LOST ONES GO, I have been waiting for someone to make an article about this absolutely amazing hidden gem. It was such an amazing drama and it is also one of my all time favourites. I just wish it got much more recognition and credit because I feel like no one knows about it at all. While I understand that it is actually pretty common in terms of the storyline, I just personally think it really stands out from other romance dramas (maybe I just fell in love with it too much?).
In terms of chinese dramas having the best cinematography, I totally have to agree with you. I think the cinematography also plays a huge role in making chinese dramas the best out there especially in the wuxia genre. I'm definitely going to watch the other hidden gems you have mentioned.
Just started this yesterday because of this article that I read when it came out. Thank you so much for the suggestion as this drama is honestly so addicting. Please give us your opinion on other amazing dramas.
Thank you so much for your comment! And no problem! Most of the dramas I listed up here are some of my favorites…
Thank you sooo much, I was afraid you might not reply since I posted the message a couple of days after the article post. Some of them I have watched and I have to agree with you on how great they were. The only one I haven't watched and recognise is In a Good Way, I was contemplating about that one for a long time because of the mixed feelings viewers have had towards that in terms of how good it was, but I can finally definitely give it a go due to your suggestion.
Really amazing and well written article, can't wait for the female version. Also, out of the dramas you mentioned here (I've wanted to watch some but have been contemplating), can you possibly give me a recommendation of your top 10 from here?
Thank you for making this article, I also started watching this when it came out and I think it deserves heaps of attention because it really is quite good so far.
For people who did manage to finish this, honestly commend you on getting through all the schemes and evil people in this drama. I just couldn't handle it and dropped it.
