he was a bully as a kid but this was too much. I hope he get killed in a bad way.
I don't think that will happen. Initially, I thought that too but it seems like the desposed emperor was jealous and very upset that the other guy is free while he is not so he killed him. I don't think the emperor has what it takes to live on as Zhang Mo and Xie Huai An will never let him live as the real Zhang Mo.
I have a question about episode 3. I did not understand what was meant by the Chen Valley incident? What happened? What did Huai An's uncle do that made the Huai An's father angry?
And when you look at their profiles, they’re clearly fans of one actor. I checked their profiles because I had…
Haish sometimes I really wonder what are they feeling so threatened by? Based on data, their idol is number 1. Yet, the fans feel so threatened by CY...Maybe deep down they know the answer.
This is a darker, political, revenge-driven drama. From this genre alone, the ending probably won't be a happy one. But I could it be wrong. This is an original script so noone can know the ending until it's finished.
words can’t describe how happy i am to see this drama exist. this type of drama is what brought me into cdrama…
Sameee, I'm so happy! My favourite drama of all time is Nirvana in Fire. I even bought the physical books in China. I'm really liking this show so far!
Just finished ep 2 and I just want to commend Cheng Yi. I'm not just saying this as a fan. CY's versatility is insane. I cannot see Li Xiang Yi, Li Lianhua, Xiao Qiushui, Wangquan Fugui or his other past characters in Xie Huai An. It's crazy. I've never seen this side of CY before. His crying scenes are so different from for example, Xiao Qiushui or Li Lianhua crying scenes. The ending part of ep 2 where he says "I have returned," while crying...there were so many emotions in his eyes. I had to pause at that scene 🥹
Of course, the other actors and actresses did so well too! I have previously watched Xu Lu's other dramas, typically romance ones, and her performance had never really impressed me much. So far, her scenes here are pretty good and she's so beautiful too! The new emperor, Xiao Jingyang is a veteran actor that I have watched a few times before and he never disappoints at acting. I could feel the tension in his and Huaian's scene. He really gives of a domineering aura.
Chancellor Gao is a really interesting character too. I like the interactions between him and Huaian. Kind of gives off a teacher-student vibe hahaha
I feel bad for Zhou Mo. He genuinely seems to be a decent guy and truly cared for Xie Huaian, but they are on different sides. Huaian really shocked me when he so decisively and ruthlessly killed Zhou Mo, but I get him....General Yan Fengshan is also confusing. Is he the good guy or bad guy because in Xie Huaian's POV, he's definitely the bad guy that betrayed his father who is the original founder of the Huben Army? But at the same time, he got so many people that are loyal to him. Can't wait to know more about what actually happened 15 years ago!
Side note, Zhou Mo's actor did really well here! I remember him from Yanxi Palace.
This is seriously my kind of drama!!! I love crime, thriller, law, and more political/strategical kind of dramas. I've watched ep 1 and now I'm halfway into ep 2 and I'm like literally holding my breath in some scenes. I forgot to breathe because it was so intense!! So many veteran actors that I recognised too, the acting is so far excellent.
Where are the female led dramas in Cdramaland? Why is it always male led though I love Cheng Yi
There has always been plenty of female-led dramas in the history of cdramas. For example, Yanxi Palace starring Wu Jinyan. More recent, Sword Rose, starring Dilraba, is a police drama (non-romance) focused on the main female character and trafficking. Yang Mi's recent drama this year is also female-led. Sun Li, another good veteran actress also has many female-led dramas. The Glory starring Chen Duling is also female-led if I'm not wrong. It's just that most in female-led dramas, the female lead usually has love interests. Zhao Liying's Princess Agents and Tiffany Tang's Princess Weiyoung are also female-led. Zhou Ye is also currently filming a female-led drama. There's just so many.
I know it's a revenge focused drama but I hope there'll be some lighthearted/funny moments as well, maybe between Xie Huai An and his allies! Really excited for this drama!!
I like how most people here are rational, only blaming the people in charge like director, producer, and scriptwriters.…
Right!! I am so shooked, it's like a hate army, they call it the water army (水军) 😩 As a fan of over 30+ actors/actresses, I feel like I'm stepping on a place with many landmines everytime I open Weibo.
But yes agree with CY and LYT. They have been friends for 5 years and have cooperated for 2 projects. I hope the hate doesn't ruin their offline friendship 🥺

Sameee 😭🥹 I hate how Weibo fanwars kept ruining friendships between actors and actresses. Why are the fans or anti-fans there so toxic 😭 Like you, all I just want is to get updates on the drama and my fav actors/actresses but I get bombarded with hate posts...
Wait I don't think Hong Ye wants every demon dead? Or did I remember smth wrongly? I only remember him being very…
Ohh I see thanks for explaining! I don't really remember that but it makes sense because the I'm sure Madam Yin had sent many spies into the Wangquan Manor before. Naturally, Hong Ye won't show mercy to demons invading his territory.
I only remembered the livestream where Hong Ye's actor answered a question on whether he would really kill Qing Tong then. Ken Chang said most likely not haha
It was a promising slow burn between the main leads from ep 1 to 18. It could've been further developed into a fleshed out romance in the latter half! However, the scriptwriters and director kind of ruined it. It seems like different people wrote different parts of the script. Second-lead couples have more romance.
I'm on ep10I truly can't feel their connection I sense nothing between them and everyone in the drama says oh…
Wait I don't think Hong Ye wants every demon dead? Or did I remember smth wrongly? I only remember him being very upset because he viewed Fugui sparing demons as a sign of weakness, not that he actually believed all demons should be exterminated.

I actually don't know much about Wang Yixu, but I liked some of his dramas. I'm also not on Twitter, but I do think at least Twitter bans people? Somehow on Weibo, those crazy hate accounts and people spreading hate never get banned...
Is it true that Cheng Yi refused to do any romantic or kissing scenes in this drama?
That's not true. CY doesn't have a no kissing clause. It really depends on the character and script. If I'm not wrong, the original also doesn't have a kissing scene. It really depends on the script of the drama.
Zhang Mo 🥹🥹🥹 He was so kind.
Kudos to the actor though, he made the two roles pretty convincing.
