People totally forgot (or in case of the millenial viewers - whom I suppose are the majority of those who complain about the speed of this show, gut feeling - probably never even have ever known) how to enjoy a slow-burning, character-driven drama where the slow nuances, long pauses, subtle gestures, economic dialogue, meticulously detailed cooking scenes like here, symbolism and objects have dramatic functions and, like you said, they tell stories. They want action after action, abundance of plot, otherwise they are skipping. I seriously feel sorry for them to miss on those elements you detailed so eloquently.

The problem with the noticeably popular theory that Mario is the father of Yoon Oh is that Mario mentioned the name of the woman he loved in the presence of Yoon Oh, and Yoon Oh did not react to that in any way. If she was that woman, Yoon Oh would have got his head up hearing her name.

And Mario did not say that after the 49th day the ghost becomes an evil spirit. He said it is a possibility. Big difference.

Quite a few viewers, especially millenial ones, tend to have short attention spans and no patience for a character-driven drama. They need abundance of plot and action.

She was not happy that he was over-enthusiastic about it, but she did not mind he was cooking, like when they were cooking together. It was quite obvious that while growing up he also helped his mom at the restaurant, hence the girls were so familiar with him. It is highly unlikely she would be upset if he uncertook this job as a temporary one. She is not a control freak Asian mom, as we saw, she wants the best for her son.

They were cooking together with his mom at their family restaurant while he was at home and they were fine. His mom knows the he loves cooking and I don't think his mom wants to take cooking away from him completely, neither I think she would be upset if he was working as a chef till he graduates.

But for the time being he can still work as a chef until he graduates from business school. If he decides to please his mom instead, he can still resign as a chef.

Btw I don't get people who complain about the speed of this show. Yes, it is slow, but effectively, substantially, subtly, tastefully and calmingly slow. I have never felt a dull moment, nor have I felt any scene to be a filler.

I honestly don't understand Aek's dilemma here. He is already working as a delivery man. Cannot he change that job and work in the restaurant while continuing his studies at the uni? He can make decisions after he finished studying.
