This show is messing with my emotions! EP 12 starts off kind of sweet, some breaking and entering music, scripture plagiarism then pain, pain and more pain (sprinkled with semi-love declarations). By EP 13 our poor ML and FL are just beaten bloody and I can totally see why ML rebelled the first time. These families are just so trash. Please give them a win in the next few episodes. Also JiYong seems very much a end justifies the means guy and I feel his "big picture" and previous knowledge means he'll rebel with Prince Qing, just that he'll believe he'll do it right this time.
This drama is truly the new dark horse btw!! The director tho brilliant is usually someone who works on mini-cdrama,…
This is insightful. It's only the second time I've subscribed to WeTV/Tencent to access express so I feel like they are on a roll. Also excited that this may be a breakout drama for the director and all the casts. Good to see lesser known talents elevated.
Even the SML has incredible chemistry with the FL! This director needs to teach a master class in how to do restrained…
It seems this director is good at peppering hints and does not waste scenes. There was a mention of the stepmom conducting some shady illegal financial dealings so I assume that will come into play either as blackmail or as part of the punishment at the end.
wow that entire boat sequence is π²π₯! It was a nice detail that he is still wielding dual swords at this point. Indicates that perhaps she has changed things. I love these little details. Ep 11 Ji Yong surprised me. He is such an unknown variable now. Whoever directed this knows how to end on a cliffhanger. It is a torturous 16+ hour wait for the next episodes. π
I really hope from the previews she doesnβt have to marry that asshole again. That needs to be cut off and ML…
It was gross listening to her stepmom and the prospective in-law talk of divvying up her wealth/dowry when they hadn't done a single thing to help her and now they just see her as their own moneybag property when the FL had done the hard work of accumulating it. They are all leeches and trash people and she needs to escape from them any way possible.
Letβs talk about that fake torture session that turned into a kinky/flirty session. I adore the leads and ML…
He is so soft on her already. It's cute how everyone around him is like oh you like her~~ and he denies it. When he finds out she's also the fox mask it'll be game over for him. π
The setup is so good. It's showing well how both are attacked from all sides and getting cornered. FL would rather not have been involved with all this but knowing what she knows, she even asks could she have looked away? It makes the latter strategic alliance more plausible despite the lack of trust between them. There is attraction there but it's not as important right now as much as mutual survival especially since it's getting revealed the conspiracy is probably from a higher up, even possible from the palace.
HOPING WE GET A GOOD DRAMA FROM START TO END bc a lot of similar dramas with this vibes the writers be fumbling…
NGL there was a scene in one of the episodes using a river analogy that made me reeeeal nervous about the ending. But so far I think they're doing everything right so hoping it sticks the landing as well.
I know it's a big thing to have your power couple matching each other wit for wit, but I'm really liking that…
I love this and totally agree. I think EP 5 was good at showing their different strengths. He is good at reading people's faces and body languages and suss out lies. Also good at attack against direct opponents. But he is not a schemer and she was ahead of him because whether he knew she was lying or not, this was irrelevant - her target was elsewhere, something he hadn't considered. It's easy to see why as smart and noble he was, he was so manipulated during the first life by others. In the second one hopefully he finds an ally in her who can cover this weakness.
If this was a book I am flipping through the pages like mad. What is this pace? So much is happening and 40 min goes by so fast! This is a 40 episode show but every episode is so intense so far. I'm absolutely hooked and the leads are doing a fantastic job.
About to start ep 2, but could someone please explain the politics in the story? So the Emperor is ill, and Song…
Song Mo and Prince Qing (not shown yet) rebelled against the emperor and the crown prince as part of his revenge. The capital is in turmoil because of this. Dou Zhao's husband is an official (implied as allied with Prince Qing) but doesn't openly pick a side and so that's why there was that whole show of my wife is dying so I can't see any guests thing, to prevent meeting people who might be politically dangerous or offend the wrong people. Song Mo wanted to meet the Emperor-to-be Prince Qing at the end to get the truth but was betrayed by him.
I had 0 expectations. This has a shockingly good start (watching on IQ so they are only up to Ep 4) Pacing is…
One of the first things I liked about it is that when she had the chance, she became RICH! Like if you know what will happen, of course you'd use it to make money and become independent rather than not choose (or choose) the right guy to marry. I also liked that hostage scene was reverse UNO on the captors. Small things like that are keeping this enjoyable.
I had 0 expectations. This has a shockingly good start (watching on IQ so they are only up to Ep 4) Pacing is good, no draggy moments, fight scenes are good, directing is great, characters are likable. I like the FL a lot, haven't seen much of the ML but I was excited to see the monk guy (Sikong Changfeng! π). I'm actually looking forward to the next set of episodes!
Not sure where to go but not ready for angsty shows after that sweet ending so I'll have to hold off on the recent sad ones for now. I'll just revisit some familiar ones. It has been a fun journey MDL LGIEF commenters. π
I actually like this ending. You know in every time travel dramas we have this kind of issues.Because she/he eventually…
I agree, I think a little scenes of them getting to know each other would have been nice in the credit scene. Like talking, hanging out, getting their picture drawn in a fair, etc. to show that they are starting their own story again in the real world.
What a sweet ending and a proper hero's journey. The message about 100% was right on and that everyone is a protagonist in their own story. It was a very warm fuzzies ending and I think the team did a great job.
Also the ML could wear a burlap sack and he'd still be so good looking. It's criminal.
Also JiYong seems very much a end justifies the means guy and I feel his "big picture" and previous knowledge means he'll rebel with Prince Qing, just that he'll believe he'll do it right this time.
