Well, a lot of viewers are hating on these no kisses dramas and actors but for me I thought these actors who stop kissing everyone on the set once they got married are pretty cool and respectable. It's also nice to know that the company/industry are still willing to hire these people so they don't lose their job opportunity just because they don't wanna kiss every random people.

Good investigation historical drama, but too much sad/depressing moments and tragedy throughout the drama. The Imperial Coroner is still the best for the genre imo.

Chinese govt love Chinese government corruption stories they even fund some of em, if I remember right it started with "in the name of the people" which became popular in China when it airs. It's part of Xi's advertising his anti-corruption campaign drive, one of the main reason for Xi's high approval rating is the fact that the public liked this anti-corruption thing (especially the part where some of the supposedly untouchable high ranking CCP cadres actually got caught and punished for corruption, previously before Xi's reign, there was no such precedent). As a result, these "dramas" where Chinese govt stamp out corruption is very popular domestically.

Actually China is one of the few countries that is not shy to admit that the corruption within their government is a serious issue, many other corrupt countries actually "censors" such things, for example Thailand.

It's pretty dumb tbh. Like they all know that Chen guy is a scumbag, makes no sense for the leads to try so hard to save him from the explosion. For the sake of justice they should've just let that Chen guy die and then there will be no further complication and good people don't have to suffer. If I know for sure it is a justified revenge kill, I would take the side of justice over the inflexible law.

ML decision making actually made no sense, he tried to save the life of Chen villain for what, upheld law? But then immediately contradict himself by choosing friendship over law which resulted in even more disaster.

Many children do that all the time, like crying/pouting when things don't go their way, idk if you can call that emotional manipulation. It's just one of those learned behavior that humans learn since young, like when even a baby would realize that crying could get her that pacifier, it's positive reinforcement whenever someone cries and get rewarded for it, so they keep doing it.

Fictions are not supposed to represent reality, it's more of an idealized fantasy. Look at US police dramas, they are depicted so righteous and heroic there, while in reality it's just police brutality left and right.

Fan Wei acting is superb. You should watch her in other dramas where she plays "good" character, she's likable there.

ML is an adult while FL is only 2 years old and in the beginning behaved like a kid as well... literally grooming. He even read a book on how to tame her. If this doesn't have the "interspecies" tag it would be so disturbing.

Probably 9 out of 10 people who watch these dramas are females. It's pretty obvious from the comments on this site, like dramas with reverse harem where a bunch of pretty boys are chasing FL no one complains, but if it's the other way around all these "self-insert FL" watchers all complain.

The contrast can be seen in fictions where the majority of audience is male. There, MCs with harem full of female characters chasing the ML is a common trope. Or the usual male fantasy where a beauty is interested in an "ordinary" average guy.

In the end it's all about catering to the demography, romance serial dramas (and romance novels where many of these are based on) have always been targeted at females, while the Chinese 2d world (video games, manhua, anime) are mainly targeted at males and will always contain more works that are catered for that demography.

One of the funniest unrealistic cliche that is obviously targeted for female audience is the young handsome CEO falls in love with some ordinary poor girl plot. But in reality, we know these ceos are mostly old ugly bastard who would be in a relationship with multiple women.

I like how it's considered normal for female idol fans (like FL and SFL) to put a bunch of pictures of their idols in their bedroom. If it's the opposite, like males putting female idol pics in their bedroom he would be deemed a creepy pervert.

Speaking of which, money is also the reason why ML has a young stepmom and a young aunt that comes with it who became his babysitter lol. Imagine if ML dad is poor, ML is like screwed and hopeless realistically speaking. Oh, and his dad would probably be a single widower.

SML and SFL band disbanded also because of money, with the members realizing that "making money is more important than fulfilling your dream."

SFL mom is also another character who's only contribution is... asking her daughter for money.

In the end FL also forsake her dream and her radio show that her dad liked died, seemingly end up as an obedient housewife.

This show is actually pretty interesting because there is a lot of portrayal of ugly realities. It's a pretty depressing show throughout, blindness, autism (both ML and the boy), even FL got mental disorder near the end, death on dad and best friend, etc. The drama doesn't even have villains at all, but so many sadness and tragedy. It shows that life is hard, even when there's no evil people around.

The male actor is 46 years old. The female actress is 25. It is 20+ yo gap, she's young enough to be his daughter. Regardless of the plot, maybe they should cast people with closer age gap...

1. Watch minute 38 in the last episode, that mental illusion said goodbye, hence it is presumed that FL is cured.

2. Just a scare, turns out the baby is fine, ML said so after FL wakes up.

3. The usual timeskip in some cdramas, kid suddenly grow up in the ending.

4. Old self is his original "normal" self before he turned "cold and antisocial" due to trauma after he witnessed his mom's death.

I really hated the ML in the first 16 ep, then started liking him after becoming the bossy ceo, and by the final 3 episode he becomes relatable. I like the character growth, he started as a helpless loser and becoming a successful man in control in the end.

I want to comment about the mother part, in my opinion, as much as that make her sound like a bad person, irl I would say there would be more mothers who would make the same choice as her than not.

Like it's pretty logical for her to be against her daughter marrying a blind orphan, while quickly changed her mind the other way around once she saw that he is healthy, handsome, and rich. In fact the only thing that makes this remotely realistic is that the ML is supposedly really good looking, which was why the FL fell in love in first sight, otherwise yeah, no happy ending.

So which actresses do you think will fit these roles better?

ML personality is always shit from the beginning though. In fact, his dad, step mom, aunt, FL, her families and friends, etc all have better personality and all would make a better friend irl. Like the way he treated his step mom and aunt from the beginning of the show is like how an unfilial villain would act.

ML is super entitled, selfish person, acts like everyone owes him while taking everything for granted, but the show wanted me to sympathize with him like oh he's disabled and sad, but meh, I actually sympathize much more with all the other characters around him. Just because he was traumatized in the past doesn't mean he should get free pass for everything since.

You mean you don't like the actress? Damn, I mean, she's my 2nd most favorite actress...

Yeah, this drama succeeded in making me feel bad for the ML so many times throughout the show. I much prefer shows where the leads have a much healthier relationship. I watched many CN historical dramas and CSS still top the list as the most worst written FL I've ever seen.

LOL so true... so many reverse-harem dramas and no one say anything. Just like how all these female viewers complain whenever they encounter ML that are controlling and try to dominate FL, but if it's the other way around, eg. henpecked submissive male characters (very common trope), no one would say anything.
