Most dramas don't need romance, the most boring genre in the world.
Romance is good as long as it's not the main theme. For example in "The Knockout" the romance element is good and realistic, it makes sense that some characters fall in love and get married, and it serves as motivating factor for certain characters to do certain things.
Though those romance focused dramas where the only purpose of the plot only serve to progress romance between mains can get boring, with the usual "happily ever after"/get married ending.
I watched this again recently because I felt like I didn't give it a fair shake the first time around, but it…
> I'm so stumped I'm never able to buy into the romance from the get go
The term is called "love at first sight" and yes it does occur in real life as well for some people. Also airheads and stupid people can get dates and get married too... romance is not exclusive for smart people.
at ep 7, it's been very repetitive so far i'm getting bored...EDIT: OMG WHAT A U TURN IT HAD AFTER EP 7 LOL it…
If every other country make a police drama and the cop does good things you would not call it a propaganda. If China does the same then you say it is a propaganda. I've been there and I know people who live there and I have more confidence in their police than in most countries, and I feel much safer from crime than in the US.
The story was good but inconsistent with some plot holes. It started right away when they introduced Lu Di, how…
If it's "plot hole after plot hole," it wouldn't get such a high average rating, just saying. It's plausible that maybe, you just don't understand the plot.
Her earnestness really won me over. The actress sold me the role.
Esther is one of the few actress that can make a naive stupid FL lead still be attractive. She just melts my heart when she acts cute and innocent, impossible to hate, just want to protect.
The ending made no sense and was frankly lazy writing. I didn't see the twist coming because it made no sense…
Mu Yan is not next in line for power. His tribe was disgraced and their power stolen by ML's tribe (which got the support from the other 2 tribes).
Also can't blackmail Qi to submission, he actually does not know where the flame is, since it got stolen by FL's dad and hidden inside FL, he only found that out very late after the whole hair disease thing.
The most unrealistic part is actually how easily he disguise himself as the prince. Surely the people around him will find out if a new person replaces him because he will have completely different memory, mannerism, personality, etc.
Just finished this drama. I'm really impressed with Zhang Song Wen's acting. He is supposed to be hated, but I…
He is supposed to be a realistic villain. Just like those so called gangster/corrupt official etc that got arrested in real life during CPC anti-corruption drive, they're not supervillains with no ounce of humanity, most of them love their family very much and treat their friends very good, that's why it's hard to hate, there is a thin line between criminals and law-abiding citizen, many are victims to circumstances. When you make a mistake, you gotta make more mistakes to cover up that mistake and it piles up.
This is the reason why this kind of drama resonates with local audience so much.
Dramas where every couple naturally only ever get drawn to their partner without any sort of love triangle/love…
It's not bad but the problem is that I'm not a fan of xianxia. That drama is basically the only xianxia drama I've ever completed lol.
There is a third wheel there though, Chang Heng. Except he's not evil/scheming so it's not too bad, but it's still love triangle because he was FL's first crush, and he later reciprocated but by then it's too late because FL is already with ML. Also he basically has a bad ending because he didn't meet his romantic partner ever.
I was excited to watch this drama after reading so many positive reviews, so I had high hopes, but these fell…
The "poor" partner here is a doctor. He has a prestigious career, high education, and doctors can be considered upper middle class in terms of socioeconomic status. In most cold CEO tropes, the poor partner is nowhere as high up as a doctor, many ended up working for the CEO (and hence subordinate relationship), so the power balance of course is going to be different.
It's funny to see when FL is much older than ML no one complains but when it's the other way around you see some commenters hurling insults like ML is a creep or grooming or whatever, and he should date women around his age instead.
General and I, Legend of Fu Yao, New Life Begins, The Legends, The Princess Wei Young, The Rebel Princess, The…
Her personality is just bad, immature, unruly, and petty. Big difference compared to Hua Liuli who is wise and able to turn enemies into friends.
Not being taught how to be a lady isn't really a good excuse, look at the FL in Fake Princess who's literally a bandit, or SFL in My Heroic Husband who's also a bandit, they are so much better as a person overall even though they are raised in the wild.
The only reason I managed to finish LLTG is because the emperor, his consorts, and the princes are all very interesting good characters.
On ep 20 and except for FL, it has been a very boring watch so far. I don't find RJL's acting convincing at all.…
I agree this is actually quite boring. There are investigation/detective period cdramas that I enjoyed more, eg. Imperial Coroner, Maiden Holmes, Warm on a Cold Night, I've Fallen for You, etc.

Some guys are into that type of girl... Esther is the best for playing the 萌妹子 role.
