I really dislike modern romance drama where the villain does hardcore shit like resorting to "murder." Leave darker things like that to serious police/detective thriller and what not.

> Zero passion, zero goals in life besides the male lead. Literally he was the only thing she cared about

This kind of girl is still high in demand even today, because for a man who is already rich and successful all he wants is a girl who's "life goal" is supporting him. All she needs is to look pretty, obey her husband, and take care of the house/family.

- They start bickering a bit- Soon they become friends- Soon again they like eachother- This evolves into a relationship…
If you're looking for Chinese high school sweet romance drama, "Meeting You" is probably the best one regardless of its rating, for very simple reasons:

ML and FL start as best friend in childhood; No breakup, no misunderstanding, etc throughout the show, their relationship is super healthy throughout. This is because ML and FL communicate very well with each other. ML is also one of those rare ML that put his love life as no 1 priority above everything else, his goal throughout the whole show have always been to be with FL, and nothing else comes close to that priority.

Most importantly, the drama is free of angst or annoying things, it's just chill and relaxing throughout the show. It doesn't have any of the "ridiculous things" that the other commenter said basically. Some people don't quite like that because they think it's boring if there is lack of "conflict" which is why the rating is not very high but for people who hate those annoying conflicts for the sake of plot, it is a good thing.

78 eps?? I've seen 2 and she's still a child.. whrn do the leads get together??
I watched 8 episodes and dropped it. Sooo boring. There's a good reason why 99.9% of other dramas, the main characters start as adult or at least high school even in episode 1. This drama might be a masterpiece but many people would also drop it because it starts out very boring and unexciting.

It's a good thing that China limits the amount of episodes in dramas now, stories should just go straight to the point and start exciting instead of it being a very slow paced biographical story.

ML is terrible, he treats his family poorly and only wake up to the fact that his family is great near the end of the story. Absolute lack of filial piety and should've been disowned from the beginning.

ML's dad is so cool, he started out poor and become very successful and rich. Yu Wei Lu and Yu Wei Lan are my favorite characters in this drama, they have amazing personality. Would be a way more interesting drama if they are the lead characters.

Exactly. 👏I love these kind of dramas too, without too many stressful factors.. Did you see my ‚ my Uncunny…
It's quite good. But it is darker than this drama, more angst for the leads safety (they feel much more vulnerable than the leads here). The villains are more evil (they scheme a lot, and turn people against the ML). In the beginning it started out tame, but the the schemes get more intense at the middle and even more at the end. But it has a satisfying happy ending.

FL is really good though, very strong and very smart.

In iQiyi this is called "My Life as a Villain Character" which is not searchable in this site. Neither does the title here searchable in iQiyi. I think the main title here should be changed.

Sighs, so true… sad… social norms…. Die hard….
"Mary Sue" is just a term used to denote "perfect" female character without flaw, it has nothing to do with romance or how many guys are after her, a perfect female character would still be a "Mary Sue" even if there is no romance in the drama at all. You can check the definition in dictionary.com.

There is a difference between a bunch of people falling in love with someone, and that someone sleeping with a bunch of people. The latter is "promiscuous" the first is not, it's just someone being popular.

"Playboy" have a negative connotation because it means he "plays" with all the girls. But having a lot of suitor itself means nothing, a handsome rich guy will have many admirers who want to be in a relationship with him but as long as he doesn't reciprocate to more than 1 person then he is not a playboy.

What do they mean by "Vulgar" life in synopsis, Is FL some sort of stripper or something. i am confused.
"Materialistic" is probably a better word to use.

The ending is a bit strange for sure. I think if they get high viewerships, they could continue another season.
Honestly they should just stop making these "fictionalized" historical dramas where they add characters and change the established history. Like it's pretty pointless, the government doesn't want it, and it makes the ending predictable for people who already know the real history anyway.

It is understandable why the government doesn't like "fictions that distort history" because it makes some people who watch actually think that certain things happened historically from the drama even though they aren't historical. Best example for Chinese context would be three kingdoms history, where many people believe fictionalized accounts taken from the famous novel, operas, etc and think that it is historical (ie. Cao Cao being villainous while Liu Bei is a saint) which is completely historically inaccurate. So yes, everyone should actually learn their history from actual historical records and not fictions.

This is why it is much better for drama writers to create a complete fiction with fictional dynasty, fictional emperor, etc where the writer will have complete freedom in how the plot goes and the overarching plot/ending is unknown to everyone. This way they don't need to deal with censorship and don't even need to pay attention to historical accuracy.

FL actress is not pretty enough to play FL, dunno how she gets casted as FLs; even 2nd FL, the maid, and Nan Xiang all look better imho. It doesn't help that the character she plays is very annoying.

It will bore you if you have no interest with how corruption works in China's state enterprises, which is arguably more boring than other "corruption" dramas such as in the police or bureaucracy/party officials. I don't think it's anywhere as good as the prequel but it is good enough for me to finish, and it definitely gets better near the end. The flashback part to the history of the company is super boring imho.

Uh, harem is not censored, there's so many cdramas with emperors, princes, nobles, etc having concubines.

The reason why harem gets removed is mostly due to marketing/practical reason, since most people who watch dramas are females who do not like it when ML have multiple lovers.

In the beginning he wasn't CEO yet and he was blind, so of course he can't act like a domineering CEO. It is actually realistic, and it would be weird if his personality remains the same given the situation. I think he learned (after she left him) that being passive won't get him what he wants.

Moral of the story: people change depending on their circumstances.
