All speaking mandarin is about as ridiculous as "dubbing" practices like all those dramas dubbed into other languages to be shown in foreign tv channels. The even more ridiculous part is there are people who prefer bs like "english dubbing" over subtitles!

it's a pretty effective method to tell people to be wary of fraud/scam, quit gambling, avoid illegal loans, and quit playing those predatory video games. The drama illustrates how such things can ruin lives.

I don't know what people are expecting, stop watching dramas just because you like one of the cast and then complains because you are not the target audience. Just watch other dramas, xianxias, romcoms, or whatever that might strike your fancy.

It's not slice of life. A lot is law, and educative for domestic consumption. Many people will find this boring, especially younger people.

Lol, Minglan was way more boring than this and it got extremely high rating here. It's not even objectively good, it's nowhere as highly rated in Douban because it is borefest.

I think people not interested in the political/law side should really not watch this, it is mostly that and "public service announcement" that gambling is bad and be careful of online fraud... really.

Wdym better script, some romance idol web drama?? Her role here is so much more prestigious and harder to get, do you know how many Chinese actress queue to play leading role in CCP drama? This drama has a bunch of Chinese govt agencies promoting it, which is a huge achievement.

My suggestion is foreign fans just please don't watch if you don't like it, this is an educational tv drama for domestic audience (targeted mainly for old people really), not idol dramas for foreign export.

It is PH. They don't even try to hide it much. In ep 16 there is a sign selling kare-kare for 35 pesos and sinigang for 25 pesos. What even is the point of censoring the country if it is obvious where it is. In ep 1 they also censor the country but the city says Barcelona...
Meanwhile Thailand is mentioned in the drama BUT not censored, lol.

Not everyone, but many want to eventually star in these kind of dramas (which most foreign fans hate). It still depends on their personal "patriotism." Unpatriotic ones like Zheng Shuang won't play in these.

Idk which actress they are comparing Reba with but virtually most top actresses starred in one of these patriotic dramas: Zhao Lusi did, Bai Lu did, Li Yitong did, Ni Ni did, even Wan Peng got an upcoming one. Of course many younger ones haven't yet since they are new and they have to compete with more veteran actresses on the audition.

All these types of anti-corruption/anti-gang drama always end with an arrest of a big fish. But the highest level so far is like, provincial party leader. It's never above that because that's just Xi and his friends (standing committee now only consist of his loyalists/clique) lmao.

It will go down I think, it's not gonna rate higher than Knockout. These kind of dramas won't have a very good rating.

She's not A it's revealed pretty early. Even in the chart that the mains are discussing back in the office. And later confirmed in ep 15 by Mr Wang. A is probably a government official. It is not Zhao Jikai though, even though he is also villain. I think Jikai gave Xin jie a call in one of the episode.

Yes, at least one of the major villain is always "main" cast in these type of dramas. An Ni and Luyuan are obv good guys. Li Yitang seems good as well, so yeah.

All actresses need to actually play in these "realistic" dramas if they want to get treated as serious actors in the industry. You can't forever just play in romance web dramas....

He fake suicide due to debt from illegal loans, which cause him to be sent to that foreign country to pay back the debt. It was coincidence he met that streamer overseas. He didn't purposely go overseas to meet her. Actually quite logical, irl there's a lot of simps like xiao bei, that's actually not even the worst because you can see the streamer face, there's even more pathetic ones like people spending money on anime cg aka vtuber.

Him meeting the streamer overseas might be fake for dramatic effect, but "xiaobei" who got into debt due to simping for streamer are very real cases.

That's nothing, in romance dramas there's a ton more of conveniences even more ridiculous than accidentally meeting the other lead, such as "accidental kisses"...

There are other countries where those Chinese fraud gangs operate as well, mostly in 3rd world countries where the laws are weak and govt are corrupt, not just PH, but PH might be the biggest one for online gambling. But those like "elderly fraud" type is basically in many other countries. Chinese government is pretty effective in getting rid of these kind of crimes due to their mass surveillance so these gangs are forced to move overseas... where they protected by democracy and liberty lmao
