yesterday MDL had 7.9 ratings ..now its up to 8.0..hoping its gonna go up 📈📈📈
It won't... this has no high traffic actors. Also a genre that most people on this site dislike. The highest rated xuanhuans here were only 8.4 and 8.3, and both has big name actor like Xiao Zhan and Wu Lei, with higher budget.

its 18 so far. waiting for next episode. why people are not watching this?
Xuanhuans are just not very popular on this site for some reason.

The Wei brothers always say they won't mess him yet show up to confront time and time again.
They're comic relief like team rocket jessie and james.

Caught up to the last episode. I like this so much, ML is so cool. Very fast paced, really funny. Who cares if it's low budget drama, it's still more fun to watch than all those angsty crap.

It's great to see lighthearted funny drama with 0 stress 0 angst.
On Till the End of the Moon Jun 23, 2023
This has to be the most overrated drama ever. High production value, high traffic celebs, amazing ost, and everything except the actual story hard carrying this hot trash. The usual stupid naïve leads coupled with very annoying villain meant to annoy the viewers, nothing original at all. Title should probably called "misunderstanding" because that seems the only plot trope the writer seems to understand.

Just one of the best example of why only Douban rating matters and why the rating in this site is misleadingly bad.

I'm also an anime watcher and I watched lots of old dramas that don't have any vfx and are even lower quality,…
Xuanhuan's original demographics are males, which means you can't invest too much money into it (lower budget) since success is uncertain. If you want good cgi then stick to Xianxia which is easier to get higher budget approved since target demographic is more female centric, which means bigger audience by default. As to why that is, xuanhuan is generally action centric, similar to shounen battle mangas, while xianxia is generally romance centric, similar to shoujo romance mangas.

Agreed. Low budget but good. Wished the episodes were longer though cause it seems like every episode ends with…
This hot ML has 7 wives and like 20 love interests in the novel, but in this adaptation it doesn't even have romance tag... he becomes asexual lmao. If anything it's closer to BL with that buddy of his.

True, web dramas causing the market to be flooded with those romance idol dramas. But at the same time the rise of these web streaming platform means more titles get translated to English which is good.

There's a lot of nice male centric novel/manhua that could be adapted to live action like Yao Shen Ji or QuanZhi FaShi it would be nice if more of those type of work gets live action... I mean even the low budget adaptation of WuShen ZhuZai is really fun to watch.

It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Men read novel, manhua, watch donghua, play games, but rarely watch dramas because it doesn't try to cater to them so why bother. Huge majority of dramas are female centric. In fact in dramas that are original scripts (not based on novel), pretty much all the ML are typical of the MLs in shoujo/josei type of fiction. The only exception is some crime and/or govt sponsored dramas.

Blood of youth is like the only wuxia drama without excessive romance that is highly rated on this site.

It can't be lower budget right, the cast looks like it is way more expensive than the random actors/actresses in Dominator lol! Either way the biggest issue is that the original story is nowhere as good as Dominator. The ML here is just a loser with 1 wife, completely different level compared to the chad Qin Chen and his 7 wives and like 20 love interests, which also mean this adaptation is better by default because it can remain faithful to the original source material unlike the latter which needs to have all romance gone and censored.

Lol, males don't watch dramas, the industry don't cater to them. This is why reverse harem novel retains the reverse harem part in drama adaptation while harem novel always get its harem part removed, because almost all drama viewers are female.

Very satisfying to see the main villains getting death penalty they deserve. I wonder if the real cases ended up with the same result.

All 40 episodes done! I applaud the actors for carrying this show. The plot is all over the place as the show…
They tried to combine 10 separate cases together into a drama, it's not easy. A few couldn't even be included into the main plot, like that fake product seller one is so out of place with new characters introduced just for it that have no ties to the main plot at all.

Lol ... just watch him as the psycho in Under the Power ... creepy guy. He is very good at it.
It's easier to find people who can act as protagonist than those who can act as a creepy villain very well. Not to mention the fact that many actors avoid antagonist roles.

This is actually realistic historically when women give birth young. Girls used to be married off once they got their first period. It's even more realistic in cultivation fiction because cultivation stop or reduce aging.

Yes, this is low budget and cringe. But it's a damn entertaining show and very fun to watch!

It's just nice to see an overpowered protagonist who rekt antagonists from the beginning and constantly instead of all these stupid naive protagonists in xianxias full of angst and all their silly misunderstandings plot which frustrate you. So it doesn't matter if this show is low budget and the actors are random, for me it is still a much better show than high budget shitshow like Till The End of The Moon.

I totally agree to this. I wonder whoever rate it low actually watch it seriously.
Douban is not biased against romance dramas. The top rated one is literally called "ROMANCE of our parents." Meet Yourself is also very highly rated. My Huckleberry Friends has higher rating in Douban than in MDL. It's just MDL has a lot of cliche simple romance dramas with too high of a rating. Most people here put a lot of importance into "lots of steamy scenes," "chemistry," etc while Douban favors more mature or subtler romance mostly. And of course the actors looks matters so much more here than in Douban because the female to male ratio is way more lopsided here. Also the level of traffic of certain celebs is not always the same in China vs overseas (MDL), certain people might be the most popular here but not there and vice versa, for example domestically there are celebs like older actors who are really popular there, but here ofc people don't like those because they're old and not a pretty boy.

Also Joy of Life, a non-romance drama (because all the romance from the novel is gutted) is much more higher rated here than in Douban, so it's also not quite true that non-romance is immediately underrated here. What this site is specifically biased against is not mere "non-romance" but "non-romance" drama which portray Chinese government as good, due to many people being allergic to that.
