On Hong Gil Dong, the Hero! Apr 28, 2013
Was it only me? I just couldn't get to the story nor to the acting no matter how much I try to. Perhaps because Hong sisters writing style is simply not my style (so far MGIG is the only show from their portfolio I could genuinely enjoyed, and it's not my first show of them). Perhaps because I've seen KJH in his previous show right before this (Capital Scandal) where his role there is pretty much similar to his role here, so I felt dejavu many many times. But the problem is, the rest of the cast is not touch it up either (I mean SYR & JGS's acting, I won't comment on the rest of the cast, except Kim Ri Na, she did pretty good job)

I only like its supporting elements like the unique setting where Joseon period meet fantasy, the music, and the ending. That's all. Perhaps my taste is just not common.. *shrug*
It's a shame how I need to label this one as mediocre at its best, since I really like the premise, setting, and the fusion concept, and had been enthusiastly following it from the early production stage.. :(

Ahaha, don't say that, as much as I'd like to be one, I'm far from a pro in asian drama/movieland in general and even less pro in J-department ;)
There are many dramas/movies I found very tempting but haven't got a chance to watch them yet :(
Have a fun weekend!! :D

Then I'll gladly write novels for you in the future *blush blush*
Yes, the setting alone is such a plus point.
Haven't see Incarnation of Money. How is it? Its rating is high, but I need a drama with no cliche. The premise is quite tempting, but My PTW list is already a too long one :((( Is it good?

By the way, I can't stand to not tell this but your current profile picture is hillarious! :D
Wish you have fun in crushing your PTW list :D

Ah, I see. Then, if you allow me to recommend one of my all-time fave movie, I'd like to point out Death Note http://mydramalist.com/japanese-movie/60/death-note . It was a very good suspense movie and contains all things I want from a movie: smart story, good acting & directing, and most of all refreshing plot. I personally think it's a must watch to all Asian pop addict ;)
I haven't watch Be-bop High School. Is it good?

Lee Seung Gi is such a lovely actor. I love him too!
These days I'm so into Japanese actor Kenichi Matsuyama. Have you watch one of his shows? Currently I'm watching his old 2007 dorama, it makes me convinced, he is sure one of great actor out there. Very versatile!

Haha, if I am not write the criteria in detail, I will get lost when I have to rate a show :D

About Capital Scandal, oh, it is that good in biased way (teehee!), because it was very special to me. I can say it was my first love (not my first crush) in dramaland. I loved how they mixed romance + comedy + nationalism spirit into one well-blended fun series (I write it in order). Beware the promotional posters might mislead people about the overall feel it'll give you. It isn't that serious (don't expect serious show with full packed action here), but it isn't that light either. For me, the combination was just perfect. (The opening scene/title captured a better overall nuance of the series).
I also loved its 30's setting, jazzy music, colorful wardrobe, and all supporting roles (they added much value to the show). The color palette they used for the cinematography was very nice too. Perhaps its only drawback for me is the slapstick comedy they used here and there, and some cliche elements (gorgeous guy fall to plain looking girl, love started out by bet).
And I think it's important to note this is my first drama of Kang Ji Hwan. I loved him for his role here, but his later roles felt so so after I watched this. I guess he is kinda trapped to Wannie (his role here) alike roles..
Hope you will give it a go~ I'd like to hear whatever your opinion on this ;)

Ooops, sorry for talking too much! Have a nice weekend :)

Title Dolls
I wish they'd show more Sawako - Matsumoto flashback scenes.. Their chemistry back then is such a lovely bitter-sweet one..

Hi Bladey, oops, I mean Steeleye, I just finished Doll. They use the doll quite exactly how I imagine it, it's eery to an extend, because I always find dolls (esp Japanese one) is eery. Yes, it's indeed a very sad story. I love how they put 3 stories into one. I usually don't like movies with multiple story, but this one is just very well blend. I also love how they didn't end up commit suicide. Wow, such an emotional movie! I wish they do more Sawako-Matsumoto flashback though..

I'm from Asian country, and I prefer masculine look all the way.. (sigh, sometimes people forget Asia is not only consist of Japan, Korea, and China.. They are *East* Asia, I remind you..). Masculine look outside, gentle heart inside.. who could say no to these type of guy (in *real-life* world)??
Men who take care of his look is okay, but make up and flower look prettier than me? Umh, no thank you :)

Interesting article. Never heard the term 'Flower Boy' until I started watching Asian dramas, & just recently…
"That is not to say I don't like men who make themselves presentable, but if you look plastic, or if you look prettier than me & wear more make-up than me, there's a problem!" Couldn't agree more on that!

On Boku to Star no 99 Nichi Apr 21, 2013
At first sight, you'd probably think, "the main guy (Nishijima) is no way on the same level with the main girl (Kim Tae Hee)". Appearance wise, it'd probably true, I felt the same way.
But as the story goes, I felt the opposite, "the main actress is no way on the same level with the main actor", acting skill wise.
And I'm telling you, Nishijima is way hotter in real life. It was just his role here as Kohei made him had to appear as a plain looking guy :)

they could have chosen a better guy
At first I thought that as well. But Kohei was such a lovely character I ended up loving him a lot. You know what, the actor Nishijima is actually way hotter in real life. It just his role here as Kohei needed him to appeared as a plain looking guy.. (and he totally succeeded at it)

My pleasure! I stumbled upon your Nine review and decided to give it a try. Lovely page by the way. It makes me want to try Itazura Na Kiss, and I'm not the type who easily attracted to teen dramas, lol. Cheers!
