Are webdramas with BL impacting you in any way? Theres literally multiple Joseon kdramas releasing with straight romances each year and like 16-21 episodes on actual Korean tv. These webshows all have to make do with online streaming. So calm down and watch Bloody Heart or something instead if you're tired of BLs.

Yeah tends to happen with older Japanese shows. For those cases its usually faster to just learn Japanese.

They DMd me to clarify it was indeed just asking if it ended gay and not about the sexual aspect. I know and have talked to the user who asked the question for a longer time (friends on MDL) so thats likely why I interpreted it differently since I know the type of BLs we usually discuss. I do completely understand how explicit can be understood as both ''very clearly gay'' and ''sexual''.

It is indeed super cute ^^ but yeah the kiss could've been better. I think I knew it was one because I had read the manga where it also happens in the end.

They are boyfriends at the end, come out of the closet to their parents and kiss. This happens in the final episode which can be missed by those only watching the first 10 minutes.

The male characters literally kiss in the last episode and come out of the closet to their parents so idk how much clear it has to be.
But in the sense of explicit as in bed scenes indeed its not.

To those new here, it is very much gay. But yeah if you're not willing to watch the entire show then it may not be for you. I know life can be busy sometimes but 8 episodes is not a ton.

So update for those looking into it, since I did DM about it. Iwona ha did have the full raw file and part 4 subbed. But from reading above comments it seems that this is now also available online (the full raw and subbed part 4). Why only part 4 is subbed I don't know.

Looking up the mangakas Twitter and the Japanese Wikipedia page for sources I would hardly call an obsession but bare minimum effort lmao.

But to each their own, if you want to follow your own set of rules for the genre that aren't in line with the ones in Japan then enjoy that.

Thanks for the info! I'm not much of a BL manga reader myself as I usually check out solely live-action adapted mangas so I wasn't aware of any official listing places.

Japanese BL fandom is a lot more complicated than many realize as I've noticed myself as well even within just my world of watching live-actions which is a tiny percentage of whats produced in reading materials. It did take some studying of books and wiki pages to understand parts of it and I know 100% I still don't know a lot since I specifically focus on 1 type of product while BL is so much more diverse than that.

Misunderstandings between international and national fandoms happen constantly so I do try to remain open to different perspectives. However, this is just clearly a case of ''its a BL''.

I usually believe the Japanese sources, a lot of the sources on Wikipedia itself for the page also mention ''boys love''. Its true Wikipedia isn't 100% though so I looked up the mangakas Twitter page.

How do I know this is the mangaka? Also wikipedia but you can backcheck this as the Japanese versions of the Pornographer manga will have the authors Japanese name (丸木戸マキ) on the cover.

There are still movies with gay romance without fluff released in Japan, they just are often explicit and don't garner a great audience since its not as easy to sell commercially to a lot of platforms.

Thats why this type of BLs is gaining popularity, because its just so commercially succesfull and able to show on tv without much issue (aside from unfortunate timeslots). Its really not related to SJWs as international fans have very little to none influence on what Japan decides to air in the current Japanese live-action media landscape.

Perhaps the freedom of expression you're looking for is in Japanese gay pink films as those are not commercially viable but they do allow as many themes as needed for its storylines.

The Japanese wikipedia page of that series mentions Pornographer as a BL. While its true everyone can have their own perspective on things, its labelled as BL in Japan. You can check by searching the Japanese title of the series in combo with the word ''wiki'' and then Google Translating the page.
