I love this one a lot. Very endearing and the main lead is a very caring, kind person. The ending fragment in the final episode as the credits rolls/ after the credits is such a nice touch. Ay, Tsumabuki made me love him in this drama.
This is exactly how you should do family dramas in Korea. I love all the characters and the cast is very good. I'm tired of seeing all of those incapable idos and popular oppas but none of them are here.
The parents are amazing, so loving! adore them! And right after the parents I love Kim Sam Joon's totally endearing character. There is also the eldest son and his story is very touching, if difficult and rife with heartbreak for various people involved...A lot of heartbreak in fact. Depending on your perspective, you will either hate him and his homsexual lover or try to understand where they are coming from.
It's a story told with affection and warmth and depicts love in various its forms and various problems that come along with it. But the parents, who are at the center of the family life, stay constantly loving and I love watching how they are so supportive of each other and of their family. They are real parents. They both had sadness in their pasts but that they found love with each other is a beautiful thing. They are a treasure, it's really nice to see how they are so loving and understanding.
All in all, the characters are all very engaging. A pleasant surprise after all the trite and contrived productions Korea dishes out in the dozen. But..you may not like some things if you're very sensitive about certain issues... Still, I think there is a lot of humanity and understanding poured into this drama, rather than rash and one-sided reactionary judgmentality. And that's why I love it.
I really like these special dramas. They often tell very interesting stories and one episode is perfectly enough to tell a good story. I liked this one. Ha seungwook is the type of character who resembles TaeWong from Reply 1997 or Thrash from 1994. Very responsible, caring type. I really like him.
I liked the broad perspective the drama adopted. It remains one of my favourite dramas and certainly a saeguk I loived, despite some blunders here and there. I have one name to add to the deserved praise for this show, and that name is Seo Yi Sook. That woman had few moments only in the show but she stole them with her great dignity and power of presentation. I loved her Empress. She is charismatic but sadly underused actress.
She has charisma on screen wherever she sppears. I like her a lot. What few moments in Jejoongwon she had, she stole them with her strong presence.. She's so sadly underused it;s not even funny.
This is such a lovely film, Visually ethereal but with a simple story, and a simple but haunting music theme running through it. I do like films like this. Adjectives to describe the story have already been used in comments below :) For me, it is magic. The simplicity is so heartfelt, it's beautiful; the things that really matter are quite simple.
I have seen this drama when it first aired but rewatched it recently. My favourite was the father-son story among all the aspects of this drama. They ended up developing such a very loving bond. I was a little disappointed at some of the developments but ultimately you are family because you become one, not because of blood and the "biological" father was no father, too selfish for me. I was disappointed they intoduced him in the first place but in the end that made that bond between KangCheol and his son even more touching. They did somewhat overdo the story towards the end but well the overall impression it leaves is very good. It is a lovely drama and I don't think the cast requires commentary. It is very well cast and acting-wise it's all great as far as I'm concerned. .
Now this is my kind of drama. I love Eita, Tsumabuki and Mitsushima.. and the writer wrote both Kazoku Game and Densha Otoko so this one is really looking good at the outset.I have high hopes for this.
This is a drama about how people want to change, essentially. Most of the enjoyment comes from the central pairing: Han Ga In and Yang Dong Geun are very contagious together. They can be both joyous, playful and in general very tangibly "together" for me. The Prosecutor is so awkward as a human being, it;s almost cute. Lee Jong Hyuk is an okay actor for me, at least an uneven one, he is quite subdued but that kind of thing fits here. At least he's better than his character in Green Rose, by a mile. But the good gangster "doctor" here is what can really draw you in. Well, possibly ladies mostly. Yang Dong Geun is very credible as a gangster- it's not difficult to imagine he was running around beating people. He;s not a bad guy though. He wants to leave his past behind but then something happens again. Oh, there is also the good doctor Bong. His entrance to the drama was hilarious. There is a nurse who has a crush on him and I really liked those two. Overall a surprisingly engaging drama. I ended up really liking it. The main couple was strongly engaging and the side characters were also rather sympathethic. This is a 7,5 drama but extra points for excellent portrayal of DalGo and for likeable characters, essentially.
I love this one. Saku is such a kind guy. While this a sad love story, this drama acomplishes so much more than that. I like how the focus is more on the people left behind. It features some really beautiful images and has a lot of delicacy. It is quite lyrical and the acting is just right. I loved Yamada here and his older self as well. Haruka is well suited to portraying fragile characters. Beautiful, nostalgic, sad, painful but also hopeful. It's about learning to accept that humans move on after the saddest moments in life- and how. they do it. Much as I loved 1 litre of tears, it is Crying out Love that is my most favourite drama of this kind. But that aside, I find that 1 litre of tears is quite different in feel to this one. I find that Crying Out is more..contemplative, where 1 litre of tears was more strictly inspirational. And I find Crying Out to be more evocative. I just love how delicate it all is, despite being so sad. it's just beautiful.
But nothing less to be expected from the screenwriter of Tonbi and JIN. I do like her dramas a lot.
Stupid. Lacks principles and the whole concept is problematic. It doesn't even remotely compare to either of the…
Well thank you for being nice and communicative about it,
I prefer Reply, particularly 1994, a much better drama and one of the best Korean dramas I have seen. And I watched quite a few dramas.
I enjoy light dramas too, but not this one. In order to avoid being too harsh, I'll just say that the premise requires too much suspension of disbelief. From currently airing light dramas, for me Trot Lovers is much better. King of Savvyy will be popular only or mostly because of Seo In Guk, I believe. If it starred anyone else for instance someone older or less popular, a lot of the comments may be vastly different. And for me just Seo In Guk is not enough to be crazy about a drama, though I like him overall.
But keep enjoying and having fun if you find it to your taste. Ultimately any story is a matter of taste :)
Very nice watch about people who lived with imagination. Even under worst living conditions, they always had imagination. About holding to dreams. And passion for working and living. I really enjoyed this one.
I loved their relationship between Shigeru and Fumie and their families. Such a good match, at least in the drama. Shigeru was quite the quirky character- I liked him and I really liked his portrayal overall. A quirky man, scarred by war, very serious about his work but his family too.
And I really like Fumie. A quiet sort of woman with a lot of positive energy, humble and supporting her husband and family from the back. A lot of interesting things were happening too, with the manga, with the people around them. I loved Fumie's Dad a lot too and Shigeru's parents. This was very enjoyable.
Stupid. Lacks principles and the whole concept is problematic. It doesn't even remotely compare to either of the Reply series. Reply series has a bit of wisdom and a lot of heart. This one doesn't have even an inch of the same things Reply has. The whole premise of King of Savyy is ridiculou and gratuitously fan-servicy.
By the way, Seo In Guk stars in Reply 1997 not Reply 1994.
I liked the drama. I like age gap stories and stories which feature cast with age gap between them (as long as they are capable actors, like here) as love is not limited to hot young idols or people of the same age. I liked how the mutual interest was executed between the leads. I found the concept imaginative in some ways. Lee Bum Soo is an excellent actor and good for this role. I always found Yoona very likeable.
I did have a problem with the last couple of episodes, though I think the ending itself was just right.
I am glad dramas like this are made, but this one could have been a little better.
Good drama, the stories were interesting and amazing acting by Kim Myung Min, as always. I was satisfied with the ending; it wrapped up at least one aspect of the story. It could use more episodes in this case but it was okay nonetheless.
